    I believe the fit of the Jacket is paramount, even if a jacket is with level 2 armour and does not fit well, it will not serve the purpose! Always best to try a jacket locally than going for a well known brand and not trying at all. I for example, as per the Rynox website, should fit in a small size, however when I try it on, I need a medium! That's the best available locally and that is what I will have to settle for the time being. Cheers for the awesome information through your channel

    So all
    EN1621-1:2012
    EN1621-2:2014
    EN1621-3:2018
    have L1 & L2 for each of them? Just that in each of them the amount of force transferred through them is less. Also certain level of armour is enough for different parts of the body. Did I understand it right?

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 года назад

      Your summary of the standards was right. Could you clarify what you meant by "only some parts need protection"?

    • @Mr.Ramjuju
      @Mr.Ramjuju 4 года назад

      @@OggyF I mean for the shoulder and the elbows required level of protection is L1 but if you wanted you could upgrade to L2 whereas for chest and back the minimum required protection is L2. Knox or d3o is upto us but nothing less than L2.

    • @thinkride3873
      @thinkride3873 4 года назад +1

      Hey Bharath. CE2 is the highest standard but CE1 is also updated for the chest in 2018. The force transferred is about the CE level itself. CE2 is better, nevertheless. About the parts of the body, see the armour marking for limbs. (1621:1) for example - S/E stands for Shoulder/ELBOW and so on we have S/E/K. Just let me know if there are more questions.

    I don't go for ride often or should I say, my parents don't allow me
    My daily ride is to and fro from college and I have bought the best quality leather gloves I could afford and a good quality MT helmet but riding jacket is something which I would love to own and wear but storing it is really tough during my daily commute
    What should I do in such a situation Oggy?

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 года назад +1

      It really depends on the distance you ride and the speeds you do. If you're stuck in traffic all the way to college and back, then a heavy jacket and all may be overkill considering you won't really need that level of protection at 10kmph. A helmet and gloves should be enough considering we put our hands out immediately to save the impact when we fall.

    Hi Oggy F!
    Nice and informational video about the CE-marking.
    About Rynox that you reefer to in the video
    Cant find any information if their clothes follow any standard. According to their website they use 1680D material in their clothes and talking about that 2000D might not be knitted properly in other fabrics. Why should we believe that their 1680D is knitted properly. They do refer to other professional manufacturers products (CE EN 1621-1 approved) aka protection that they use in their products, and that's alright. But they fail to provide information about if their own fabrics material used in their own clothing.
    The European Standard, EN 13595:2002, covers protective clothing for professional motorcyclists, whereas proposed new European Standard, prEN 17092, is for clothing used by non-professional riders; for example, for commuting and leisure use. The two standards will operate alongside each other until at least 2023.
    I think this is mandatory to check out when buying mc-clothes, especially when they are made by unknown makers.

      it costs ₹11750 and comes with sas-tec armor, level 1 on the chest and level 2 for the rest. no, I've not gotten the chance to try them out as there are no proper riding gear stores where I live. I've tried on a Rynox one for a min, but that wasn't the model I'm looking into.

      @@sourajyoti I've done a bit of reasearch and the level of protection and the price range of both jackets are very similar. Personally, it would come down to the fit. Even the best jackets won't do much for you in a crash if the armor is lose when you hit the ground. Considering you live in an area where you don't have access to try one out, my suggestion would be to use the sizing charts on both websites and decide.

      @@OggyF thanks, yeah. the solace jacket has a reputation for being lighter and better ventilated, which is why I'm looking into it. on the other hand the rynox one is widely preferred and also the better looker. I think I'll be going for a solace as being lighter and cooler will make it much easier for me to actually use.

    What if it is safe tech?????

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 года назад +1

      Great question. My guess is that you've got a Rynox Air GT 2 jacket. Safe-tech is the name of the Italian brand that manufacturers the armor. As long as it provides you with CE level 1 or level 2 protection, you're good.

      I usually stay away from recommending riding gear because it largely depends on the way it fits which would be different for different riders. What I could do is share details about material to look for and features and so on.
