There definitely is something to be said about your personal connection to a book. It's difficult to explain why a book speaks to you at such a visceral level.

to me it starts at a 2.5, but same! that means that I give out 2 star ratings semi-frequently, but I'd rather have more space for variation in the higher categories :)

This WAS satisfying because that’s literally so honest and relatable and now I don’t feel like if I try to annotate I won’t feel guilty about not wanting to color coordinate the sticky tabs because I too simply just love how chaotic the colors on the aide of a book look. 🙅🏻♀️
love your chaotic use of sticky tabs. I do something kinda similar: I chose 2 or 3 colors of sticky tabs that match the cover so it looks pretty. I refuse to write notes on the pages as I read, though, because I'm sure as hell not gonna flip through it all again just to find out what I thought, so I just write all my notes on the very last page of the book (which is normally blank, anyway)
You know what, I actually appreciate her extremely high standards so when she gave a book a 5 star I know it will be amazing straight up instead of having a lot of list to choose from. And that’s on slow reader problems 🙃

I feel the SAME about Bunny and I’m Thinking of Ending Things, I gave both 4 stars too but I consider them both favorites and I think about them all the time but they just weren’t quite five stars for me, but I love them so much more than other books I’ve given four stars so... 🤷🏻♀️

I have a werid recommendation for a book. It's called "I am Princess X". It's a mix of a book book and a graphic novel. It follows a girl how loses a friend in a car accident, but she isn't really gone. The character they made when they will little will help alot along the way. It's a fun read and I would recommend checking it out!
obviously this video is already getting old in the world of the internet but i use sticky tabs / color-coding in a more manic way. i use a coral-pink color to mark just chaotically beautiful and/or chaotically relatable language; blue/purple/indigo for mental illness related stuff (of course blue lol); and the rest are just random based on what vibe the annotation is giving me. so they all become pointless later. only when i want to quote a part i loved do they come in handy, because i just flip to all the coral-colored tabs. if i don't have a fresh set of sticky tabs... best believe i'm taking pictures of the passage and dealing with it a month later, maybe noting down at least the page number somewhere lol
