I can give you some advice as an ‘old dealer’. Strike while the iron is hot. Just like the stock market, you can never time when the prices will plummet. Never look back with regret, crying about, I should have waited just a bit more. Hoarding will only get you death piles. If you collect for yourself, then buy what you like. There will always be a market for buying back your childhood at a premium. Thanks!
It's so good to see and hear you, Mike! I love your beard and your glasses! The info today was killer! Thank you! I pray your beautiful wife and family are well!
Very informative. Thanks for all the research that you do to make these kinds of videos. Just want to give you a lighting tip: Don’t use a window as a background as the backlighting makes you less clear.
Oh man! My sister was the My Little Pony collector & I was the She-Ra collector, but the toy I probably wanted the most, begged my parents for, dreamed of, asked for, & wished for the most, was the Nintendo Entertainment System! I felt like I was the last kid to actually get one (probably not, but it felt that way at the time). Once in a while, my parents would rent one from the local, small town, movie rental store. We could rent the whole system w/Mario Bros. (that was all I wanted, nothing more)! I would beg them to rent it on a Saturday because the movie store was closed on Sunday (almost everything was closed on Sunday back then) & I got to keep it one extra day!! The problem was, they only had one or two systems to rent out & if it wasn't returned on time, you were out of luck. Cheapest babysitter for the entire weekend ever! Then finally, one beautiful Christmas morning, I unwrapped my very own NES & it was on! DOOT, DOOT, DOOT...DOOT-DOOT-DOOT!
I LOVE these stories! Nostalgia and memories are something that links us all together. Our local Ayer’s video was closed Sundays and I would love renting games Saturday and returning Monday! Kind of miss that experience of the joy of finding the movie/game you really wanted and knowing you can play/watch it for 3 days. 😂😂
@@66uniqueantiques Ayer's was the place I was talking about lol! I remember having anxiety when we didn't get there very early to see if one was available to rent & the disappointment when it wasn't returned on time, but yes, the joy & excitement when it did work out to rent one for the weekend! These are some of the memories we don't think about often, but watching this video brought them right back! Thanks for the video!
There are items from the 50s that are really worth a lot of money. I remember reading in Arts and Antiques Weekly about a Japanese space robot complete with the original box, but not unopened - price, $180,000. I suspect the high prices of space and electronics toys are driven by tech millionaires who played with them as children and now have $100 million.
(Fancy intro!)---Us kids were all born in the 50's (except baby sister in 64') so most of those things were between us & my own children, born in the 70's. Nerf was just coming in, and Atari was still a thing!
Mike , I don't think there is a person out there who was a teenager during the 80's that doesn't remember the Super Mario Brothers jingle that played during the game and quite a few adults that were playing it .
Mike , you nailed this one . If anyone watches yard sale picker channels . The first thing they ask is if the seller has any video games for sale .
I do as well but being in that market for so long you could start to see it a few years ago

That wouldn’t surprise me at all.
