      Absolutely. Bluepoint Games & all involved with this remake did such a good job making the world look as realistic as possible. Even more than 6 years later, the PS4 remake holds up very well graphically. Not everyone was happy with the new look of the game & yes some of the other-worldly feel of the original is gone. But considering what we did get, it's hard to complain. Now might we get a Director's Cut in 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary? Let's keep our fingers crossed.

    Risky move

      Yeah, actually I was intending to end the video with a nice shot using photo mode. But I forgot to enable it before recording & as it was it took probably close to an hour or more of trying just to grab that particular seagull. As for making a risky move, now that I think about it I've died more times playing this game than I did in "Dark Souls". But that's the price you pay when jumping & throwing yourself all over the map to see what will happen. Of course Nomad I know you don't need to be told that. :)

      @@vacantile Yes, it really is impressive & maybe just a bit insane when I think about just how many hours I've put into this game. Not sure of the exact amount, but if I combined PS2, PS3, PS4, it's well over 50,000 hours by now. That includes foreign versions too. The PS4 remake alone I've platinumed from all 6 regions. But that's how you discover new things. And amazingly after 19 years, there are still new things to discover & new glitches to experience.

      @@vacantile I play S.O.T.C. almost every day. I'm working on some special videos for the 20th anniversary next year & it will take the rest of this year to get done what I need so I'll be ready. Off the top of my head other games I like are... "PRAEY FOR THE GODS" "RESIDENT EVIL 4" "JOURNEY" "THE LAST GUARDIAN" "THE LAST OF US" "GHOST OF TSUSHIMA" "ICO" "ARCADE PARADISE" "LOST IN SHADOW" "D" "D2" "CASTLEVANIA: LORDS OF SHADOW" "TWISTED METAL" "FORTNITE".

      When the day comes (which it will) that I finally stop uploading content for this game, a compilation might actually be a good idea. The thing is I have no idea when that would be. I've got at least one boss battle planned (something I've never done in a video) & several more things to show for the remainder of this year, plus things for the 20th anniversary next year. So if a compilation happens it won't be anytime soon. XD

      Thanks. It took a while to find another location where I could basically do the same thing as before. Once I found it was possible to do it again in a new location in the Forbidden Lands, I thought why not do a sequel. I might make it a trilogy if I can locate a 3rd place to do it yet again. :)

      @@timmadone8930 Although this game is another way to play the same amazing game it just doesn't capture the same mystique as the original.

      @@holyboy1 I agree. The way the majority of the landscape looked in the original gave off an an other-worldly vibe. It looked almost like an alien landscape yet at the same time looked like some places here on Earth. When you look at some of the baron stone mountains with no vegetation on them, it looks like maybe a nuclear war happened in the Forbidden Lands & wiped out almost all plant life. Got to admit though I really like how the PS4 remake looks.

    • @holyboy1
      @holyboy1 4 месяца назад +2

      @@timmadone8930 Back in the day the original would have looked somewhat normal as what to expect from the hardware capabilities and limitations at the time, despite SotC being like nothing we had ever seen before but I generally agree. The remake looks more realistic, I prefer both for different reasons. The remake looks so much better although not sure about Wander's doll-like appearance. However, given the choice I would like to experience the discarded colossi in the original over the remake.

    • @timmadone8930

      @@holyboy1 I don't have a problem with Wander's face in the remake. Just don't zoom in too close. I do feel like his eyes looked much better in the original. If you zoomed in on them they had a wet glossy look just like real eyes. That's not the case in the remake. As for playing the game with the cut colossi using the original graphics or the remake graphics, I can go either way. I mainly just want a physical release should the game get a 20th anniversary edition.

      Yeah I was pretty stoked when I discovered you could do this. Prior to trying it I just assumed that the birds flying over the cliffs wouldn't have any collision. But as with many other things involving this game, if you keep trying different things, you end up making some interesting discoveries. This is a sequel (hence the part 2) to my other video where I do the same thing over by the great waterfall.

      I'll assume that means good (or great) video & I'll agree. It takes a lot of time & patience to fully explore such a big map (big by 2005 standards anyway) & lots of trial & error to see what things you can & can't do that go beyond just taking out the colossi. But that's the job of a Secret Seeker & it always feels rewarding when you discover something new, & even more rewarding when you can share it. :)

      So true. While my videos for "Shadow Of The Colossus" are taken from the PS4 remake, the original version of the game had an other-worldly look & was visually amazing for what it achieved all the way back in 2005 on the PS2. Even though I miss the look of the original, it's hard to deny the visual feast we get from the PS4 remake. Bluepoint Games & all involved went above & beyond to make the game look the best it could possibly look in 2018. 6 years later it still holds up nicely.

      Yes Wander is a male even if he does look a little feminine in the face. A lot of people seemed to be unhappy with the way Wander's face looks in the PS4 remake. I'm okay with it. It looks alright as long as you don't zoom in really close. The one thing I do have an issue with is the eyes. I think Wander's eyes looked better in the original version of the game. They had a wet glossy look like real eyes.
