I just purchased a 2006 AP2 MINT MINT with 22369miles on it (No accidents, no dents, no repaint, ALL STOCK, no RIPS on the convertable top) for $37629 USD Tax in. Let me know if you think this was a good deal. (Colour: Silverstone Grey)
Bought my '06 with 145K miles for $9K last year in the midwest. No rust, needed ~$1K in body work and some new tires to get it looking fresh. That being said, I didn't discover that it had a blown head gasket until after a month of ownership. I had not interest in doing the labor myself. Luckily, I know a guy. $400 in parts and $400 in labor later and we're back on the road. That's ~$11.5K for a clean 145K mile '06 S2K. All in, I think you could have done much worse. Glad to see you enjoying this awesome car, I hope you never look back.
I bought a 05 with 163k miles, one adult owner... 100% stock for $8000 in Houston Texas, in the last few months Ive done myself a few minor things.. (like tct, some gaskets replacements, I fixed the torque sensor and refresh the gearbox and did flush all the fluids and adressed the clicking at the rear axle) also Did a three stage paint correction with a coating and an intensive interior and engine detail..
$9k ain't crazy. I think you're in California? I paid about $11k for a 2002 with 100K miles..east coast..good bit cleaner than yours and clean title but missing 2 VINs..I know yours is high mileage but as long as you keep oil in it you should be able to take it to 250K and beyond no problem. You may have paid a grand too much or something..but as long as it's still fun to pop VTEC, who cares.
I got my s2000 Early March 2019. 2005 133k miles from a private seller for $13.5 9 vin tags and didnt need any work to start vtec-ing all over town. Clean carfax and no mods, soft top in excellent condition, all four wheels have rash.
I would have only paid 7k at most for your car, but even then I'd probably still walk away. Tho I do applaud you for buying what you want. Crazy to think there was only 1 s2k around you in Cali.
got my 2001 with 78k for 12k which i found was pretty cheap. Clean tittle no rust one owner was an older man only thing was the paint because it's berlin's black which i'm not bothered by it since black is hard to keep clean. no mechanical problems
dealerships overprice them ! mine had 118k and got it for 13K 2001 ap1 and had a couple problems and payed like 1.8k , Any s2000 less than $10k will have problems for you to fix and high mileage !
Just bought my 17 year old son a 2002 with ap2 tranny and diff, new oem ap2 convertible top, buddy coil overs, millennium exhaust with test pipe, professionally installed sound system, the body is fair with a fair paint job, aftermarket wheels with good tires. It does need a clutch and maybe an injector or spark plug coil, overall very decent. Paid $7500 plus TTL.
Who is the "We" that you keep referring to? Values on most collector or enthusiast cars have experienced a nice bump since the pandemic hit. Values for S2000's in particular were already on the rise before the pandemic and they've really taken of since. So as long as you're happy with the car, the price paid will soon enough be water under the bridge. I wouldn't lose any sleep at all over the price you paid if I was you especially given your location. You might consider investing in some tools and learning how to do more of the maintenance tasks on your own to save yourself some money in the long run. I recommend this as one of the great things about any S2000 is that they are very convenient to work on (and therefore also a good car with which to learn how to work on cars - a true win-win).
I got mine in july 52k miles 2002 suzuka blue from the original owner for 15.5k in basically perfect driving condition with a few wear and tear things on the paint. Interior was perfect and no rust as it was garaged its whole life. It already had upgraded sound system and new wheels and lip kit and side skirt basically it looks stock+. Honestly couldn't have found a better one it seemed like fate once i found it.
just got my 02 s2k 3 weeks ago for 13500. 110k/red/black clean interior/clean tittle/bumper conversion/HR coilovers/testpipe/exhaust. Has throwout noise/cracked windshield.

in 12/19 i paid 6400GBP (7850USD) in the UK for my 04 s2000 93kmi exact same spec as yours but in very good condition (aside from TCT, tyres and v small tear in mohair), with the extra oem lip and boot spoiler, decat and sony player. these are a great buy in the UK but I also found myself a bargain
9000.? you buy s2000 for 9000, here in my country if you can find anyone who would sell s2000 the price will be around 40grand. don't care the years are, but the condition is mostly in great condition, cause it's freakin rare. and the one who have it is almost like having lamborghini or ferrari. i wonder how about first gen nsx.? how much you should pay.? here is about 135grand..
I got my s2000 for $7,500 socal area it came with invida exhaust, hks suspension, and gram light wheels it had 190k miles on it I brought the car summer of 2017 it has not given me a single problem
Naa bro. That's a good price. I paid $30k for my 2007 S2000 Silverstone with red interior. The car only had 43k miles. It currently has 49k and I've had it for 2 years. The car came completely stock and still has the original windshield and clear bra. I love the damn thing! Taken it to autocross a few times. For those that have an S2k, take it to autocross/ track! You'll learn so much more about the car and the car loves it. I beat the shit out of mine, I'll be honest! hahahaha The car is amazing!
184,000 miles? Have you budgeted for a new engine and transmission? That's not an S2K bash, ANY car with 184K is going to need a new engine and transmission.
I agree with everyone, you got a good price. I just bought mine 3 days ago from Cali and had it shipped to Phoenix. 03' AP1 with 135,000 for 10k.
@Azael its not a steal thats what they should go for, its a fuckin Honda, convertible at that.
@@SuperJoobers it’s a total steal. That would sell for 17-19k where I live

If you like the colour of interior + exterior you did ok. Maybe a grand or two too much.
You can easily fix that clear coat on the trunk

False. JDM cars are well made
“Well made” does not mean “won’t need a new transmission after being driven HARD for 200K miles.”
