    nice to watch an actual review instead of an AI bot running through tech specs of generic laptops

    Thank you for making this video. Hubby and I are both writers and he's in the market to upgrade our old offline laptop. Same as you said, when we go to that laptop our brains go right into writing mode, which is excellent. Cheers, Ivy.

      Yeah! Some authors say simpler is better, but there's a particular enjoyment of discovering the right tool for the job.

    Cheers. I bought mine back in the day too. I used it for a few months and then switched to a Yoga X1 3rd gen, for its 2 in 1 form factor, pen support and also better TB3 port that allowed an eGPU to be connected reliably. It's been sitting on my shelf since and I recently switched it on to test it. I connected it to mains and it showed as low battery and then shut down. I couldn't get a charging light to show after resetting via the pinhole, plugging the battery in and out, testing other chargers. The other day, I decided to let it sit without battery for a few hours and then put the battery back, plugged it in. No charging light until I looked at it again five minutes later. Not too sure what happened, but am glad its back. I didn't know that you could charge it via the USBC! That's useful. I thought I was tied to the big brick.
    Not too sure about it being the best laptop for writers but the keyboard is nice. I am editing a book and I need multiple windows/ monitors for my reference documents, google searches etc. So I'm currently tied to a desktop set up.

    SUGGESTION
    if you want a smoother UI, if possible try running Linux on it

    Excuse me, what do you use to write your novel on this computer? Does it come on the computer? Is it free?

      I use an application called Scrivener. It's a 1-time purchase - not a subscription.

    The trackpad on the 25th aniversary is certainly better than the older ones… some of them sucked so bad id just use the trackpoint anyways. Trackpoints are also nice for being pretty good if you have RSI and for accessibility, plus its better than a touchpad for scrolling.

    Still the best laptop keyboard for me so far. One thing that turn me off about this 25th edition is the absence of thinklight. With the seven rows keyboard, thinklight make thinkpad thinkpad

    Damn, after watching this video I want to buy it. I am not a writer, but I want to be a writer or editor one day. But this anniversary laptop isn't available in my country. I do looking for a laptop with removable battery, is there any alternative for this laptop ?

    I have an old Lenovo laptop and it's finally about to die, so I'm in the market for a new one. This one ticks all the boxes, except maybe for price. Do you have any thoughts about the keyboards on any of the other Lenovo laptops? I see that lots of models from recent years can be had refurbished from companies, schools, government so I think one of those could save some cash... but how's the typing experience?

      The newer Lenovo keyboards are wonderful as well, and I actually type a bit faster on them because of the greater key separation. However, I still prefer the feel of the older keyboards. It's more satisfying. I don't think you can go wrong with most Lenovo boards, since they're generally better and more consistent than ones I've tested from any other laptop manufacturer.

    Lenovo is king for their keyboards alone. So much buttery travel.

      Agreed! I was so worried when they bought the business from IBM, but they proved me wrong.

    Getting any older Thinkpad that was own by IBM are pretty good. The red nub is very useful when you’re using the laptop on your lap or in bed. You’re not straining your hands to reach touch pad to scroll. Though I did wish it had the MacBook three finger drag. The older Thinkpad and MacBook have a screen ratio that allows to see more lines of text which is good for coders and writers. The recent lines of thinks and dell xps have wide screen which show a decent less number of lines of text/code but has the advantage of showing reference material and document side by side. So for researchers and beginner programmers the new laptops is better but for sole writing and experience developers the more square screen is better.

    1:27 they've ruined the entire ThinkPad line. making the chicklet design the standard with shallow key travel and be aware that a replacement keyboard will be so overpriced to a point that it's not reasonable to buy

      @ajwriting  Год назад

      Yeah, it's unfortunate. I wish they'd bring back the older design!
