The difficulty in building arenas/indoor stadiums is that as you widen the perimeter, you will be needing to place some beams or the roof would collapse. Since no one wants steel beams in the middle of a concert or a match, engineers work around this problem by suspending the roof in different ways. You can see this in semi-covered stadiums as well, eg. the visible ribs in PSG stadium or those poles in Juventus stadium.
For this reason, arenas are usually smaller than outdoor stadiums since you increase the possibility of collapse as you go wider, especially in an earthquake-prone location such as in the Philippines.

It's not bad as we just started. By 2024 in Paris our mission is to have more medals. Engaging Filipino in sports we lacked for so many decades and years due to lack of facilities. We now have the basketball courts/arena, tracks and fields, volleyball and tennis courts/badminton, football fields, swimming facilities, weightlifting etc. In football, we won but until Asia only, maybe the worlds tomorrow. Actually from what I know it's originally requested to have a 100,000 sitting capacity but with only 5 years of construction it wasn't possible 55,000 capacity is already a lot to make in just 5 years when massive buildings like that are usually made in 10 years. And so they proceeded to make half the capacity to make the 5 years deadline but still of course with care of the craftsmanship since it also needs to be earthquake proof.

The arena is capable of holding a range of events from boxing, basketball to live music performances There is clear "line of sight" for every seat from each tier, even for various arena configurations such as church ceremonies, boxing, tennis, concerts or indoor gymnastics. The Iglesia ni Cristo allows non-Iglesia tenants to use the arena.

That arena was not designed for sports such as American football or whatsoever. It is not a stadium wherein you will have an oval track. The owner of that arena is an independent nontrinitarian Christian church. It is built for staging an event and particularly their religious annual activities. It can also host other events such as concerts and the likes.

From observing the layout, it’s not a half bowl, it’s more like 2/3 bowl. Also the do have seats on the opposite side, but a very small fraction of the other side. I would think the sports they play is basketball. However you are driving your self crazy not a full bowl (at least in equal proportion to the opposite side), that is because this was setup for religious gatherings. Remember you can’t design stadiums perfectly for every purpose, it’s kind of like having a concert in a baseball stadium, it’s a little awkward, but it works.

Its indoor arena. Meaning it has roof and stadium is usually open air. That's the difference. That's why the stadium that you're saying holds much more people but they are not the world's largest arena because they are not in the same category.

Hello guys, I am from New York, although I agree that it is weird that the audience is just on one side during a sporting event, it actually happened here in the US as well at least temporarily, meaning when Madison Square Garden was undergoing renovation, they had some WNBA games played at Radio City Music Hall which felt weird when I watched the games being that the audience is only on one side but I actually experienced that. Not only that but I actually saw boxing matches done at Radio City Music Hall with the audience just on one side as well.

The stadium is way bigger than the Philippine Arena, but the two are different, the stadium is not completely roofed but some of it has retractable center roof but not fully airconditioned. The Philippine Arena is fully airconditioned and has a power generator that can handle 100% of its total load. It has an air quality monitoring system the would release the air from inside and suck new air to maintain the air quality.

Configuration looks a bit strange to me because its called an arena and looks like arena from the outside, but the seating configuration looks more like a ampitheatre which is normally only used for performances/shows rather than for sport. Therefore, im not sure if this can technically be called an arena if its main purpose is not for sports.

According to google, the Philippine Arena is the biggest INDOOR arena. Also, according to google, the biggest arena in the US is the Carrier dome in NY which seats 35,000. Stadiums are generally open-air structures that can seat 100,000.
The design is something that needs to get used to. Regarding to your discussion about seating on opposite sides during sports games, the arena is so wide to accomodate opposing fans. As you pointed out, the only difference is no one is watching on one side. Basketball and volleyball games has been played there before. It was kinda award and it needs time to get used to. But the design is great for concerts. U2 performed there a few years ago and it was great! Also, watch the 2019, SEA games opening.
By the way, there is also a stadium built next to it, which is for other sports like soccer/football, baseball, athletics, etc.
