Chocolate Hills is real! I am from the island provice where it is found. It's called chocolate hills because it turns brown during the summer and its green during the rainy season. And about the volcanoes, we had a recent one for Taal Volcano.

Trillions of dollars of China’s economy passes through a route called the Malacca Strait. The US and some members of the Allied Nations are doing military drills on to carry out a blockade at said route. So if you are China you might need a defensive plan or even offensive if needs be. Ph is considered an ally of the US and has military bases in said country. The Philippine trench is the most strategic position to attack China’s Eastern coast which in seconds can wipe out entire China Economy(using Ohio Submarines armed with nuclear weapons ofcourse). That trench is exactly in those contested waters. Experts in geo politics even say that China will undoubtedly go to war for this, Nuclear or whatever. If you are China and a couple of not so weak nations gathering and practicing to forcibly collapse your entire economy, will you go down without a fight for your people? If you are Ph, will you let an ally use your country to launch a nuclear missile which China will not miss to retaliate or even attack first that could be made like Hiroshima and Nagasaki? We all hope that it’s just a matter of which owns what instead of this big fuss about controlling the world! But we all know it is not as simple as that! In this equation only the Ph is wo capacity to defend itself thus wanting not to be used by anyone.
BTW, Vietnam also claims a lot of the islands.

Guys, on the islands thing; Basically, in the Spratleys, Mainland China was the only claimant who did not have an island/s in the area, so they built 5 of them. Most of the islands are actually garrisoned by either the Vietnamese or the Philippines, with one claimed by Brunei and several more by Malaysia. So, why is the area important. TRADE. Over 40% of the world's trade passes thru the South China Sea. Who controls those trade lanes could control international trade. They could, for example, stop oil bound for Japan or South Korea.
on Volcanoes, The biggest explosion in recorded history was the explosion of Mt. Pinatubo in Central Luzon in 1990. It covered much of Luzon in ash, shut down what was then the largest US Air Force Base outside of the US, Clark AF Base, and caused world wide temperatures to drop by 1 Degree Celsius for over a year. Recently, Mt. Taal blew its top and covered a few provinces in ash a few months before the COVID lockdowns. This explosion was a reason why it was so hard to find masks in the Philippines when COVID happened.

The issue between the territorial seas has been going on for a very long time the reason why the country who has a part on the territorial seas fight for it, it's because that part of territorial seas has a lot of rich natural resources which can bring a lot of benefits for globalization just like corals, that is why these countries especially China don't want to give up and would really want to claim there rights on their territorial sea.

I'm a retired U.S. military Texan!, living full time in the Philippines. Been here for many years. The majority of Filipinos and Americans are close, and get along very well together. The Philippines KNOWS we have their back, and count on us for that. Same for S. Korea. I am the ONLY American living in my area for about 40 miles. I have ZERO problems. My wife is a beautiful Filipina, and we've been together for 16 yrs now. We have one son. He's a teenager, and almost as tall as me already (I'm 6'3", 210lbs) I have a very good life here. I do miss some "conveniences" in the States, BUT I get fresh fruit (all around me, and in my yard!), fresh fish, fresh pork, etc...delivered to my house daily. So I eat healthy. We have drinks and sing karaoke on a normal basis, for birthdays, parties, holidays, etc...Not a bad life! And not a rat race like in the States.

Most of the local dialects in the Philippines have Spanish, Greek and Latin mixtures. In 1987, Cory Aquino abolished the SPANISH subject because they thought it was useless, and in 2007, UP Diliman pushed THE TAGALOG policy replacing the English language.

That's not true, the Manila was named after the Nilad grass (place where Nilad are abundant), that was how Tagalog people used to name places. Others, Masantol (place where santol tree are abundant), Malate (full of salt), Macati (full of sacati grass). That Amanillah thing was not even recorded in history, and had been propagated by the "Balik-Islam" movement and Yusuf Ledesma. Also Manila was not even 100% Muslims prior to arrival of the Spaniards. AND ISLAM WAS JUST CONCENTRATED IN MANILA AREA , NOT IN THE ENTIRE LUZON!. Study your History. Fake News! In Mindanao, Islam was not even the religion of the entire island, there Lumads, the Bagobos, Bukidnuns....come on...learn your history and stop spreading false information.

These guys... Yo! The late president Ferdinand Marcos was not a dictator. Also, Ninoy Aquino's assassination was not the president order's. By the way, Ninoy Aquino was bound for death penalty. For being one with still existing NPAs and MNLFs, and for being the mastermind behind the bombings and chaos. The "Plaza Miranda bombing" is one of the famous ones of which he sacrificed the safety of his political allies for the sake of blaming the late president FEM. Ninoy was not at the site when the bombing happened but appeared later wearing black attire. Something's fishy? Yeah, he did know also that he was bound to be assassinated when he arrived at the Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983. It was part of the plan of the opposition, to use his death to blind Filipinos that there were no democracy back then, that the late president FEM imposed Martial Law to stay in power. When in fact, the Martial Law was declared to prevent a civil war because there was communist insurgency happening which Ninoy Aquino take part in. It was also part of their plan, to provoke the president to declare Martial Law for them to invite more Filipinos to partake in the armed revolution. Furthermore, the late president Marcos declared snap elections on 1986 to show that his popularity was still firm. He won alonh with his running mate as the Vice-President. Cory then later spread rumors that she was cheated and raised discontentment of the results. When the so-called "People Power Revolution" happened in 1986, Cory Aquino was in convent in Cebu, to seek protection. She did not partake along with the fraction of Filipino people that march to EDSA which consists of cabinet members that withdrew their support from the administration, and the just curious Filipinos which my mother's side took part in. The EDSA Revolution was non-violent and peaceful because of one completely ignored and silenced FACT, that president Marcos ordered the Marines on EDSA to not attack. His son, BongBong Marcos, who was in charge of the Palace's defense in that situation, later revealed in an interview of him that the late president told him, "I have spent my whole life defending Filipinos. I cannot hurt them now." Actually, this interview that I'm talking about is still on trend. That is it! I hope this enlightens everyone that reads this. As the accusations that Marcos family got for the past 35 years were in fact proven lies/propaganda.

The Political agenda of the U.S in the Philippines was huge and unfortunately it still is for a lot of Filipino-Americans. Yes we are a democratic country currently, but that dictatorship claims in the past we're all one sided hate against our progress in the past. The former president wanted socialism because democracy is not a perfect system and can led to oligarchs controlling everything. The CIA kidnapped our former president and then the Philippines had to fall in 1986 after that, they closed our nuclear energy, the Philippine peso went weaker and the investors left, due to chaotic and incompetent political will of the liberal Party, after our former president got kidnapped. He was not a dictator and in fact he has large supporters even now. It's kinda like how the U.S is interfering with Venezuela right now.
We don't really share much towards foreigners about politics since the media is always against Filipinos, they'd just continue to misinform foreigners. Now we have a good leader with 91% approval rating, the highest so far. We now have monthly benefits for the poor like 4p's, free medicines in neighborhood centers, free education in public including college, free housing in some parts of the nation and we're currently the 12th most safest country in the world in 2020 Gallup index, which is still unreported by the international media. I still prefer socialism over the undisciplined capitalist democracy. Like how Singapore and Canada are currently on a socialist system. The filipino people also want to have a federalist system in the country. Thank you for reading, never believe the media nor the hate by foreigners towards our government and the victim mindset of the unproductive Filipinos. You have to look on both sides and get the genuine opinions of the ones who are actually living here from a foreign and local standpoint that are here and see how things are with your own eyes.
      Have a good one!👍

After more than 20years of dictatorship, the people took over via the People Power revolution in 1986, with not a single life or blood lost. So we are back to democracy, with a President that is elected every 6 years..thanks for this reaction...Mabuhay!

At 11:10 that picture has definitely been tweaked a little bit, but depending on the time of the year and day you visit the Chocolate Hills, you can definitely see a sight like the photo shown! I know about this since I live in Bohol, the island where they're situated. Our house is around a half an hour's drive from them.
Best time to visit them is during the summer when the grass turns brown because of the heat, hence they look more like hundreds of gigantic lumps of chocolate. Also best if you visit either before sunrise or just before sunset.. Before sunrise, and nearing the rainy season, the nearby hills can usually be seen covered with a layer of fog so you can only see their tips. Visiting them before or during sunset gives the hills and the area a more reddish orange glow, and the shadows created by the mounds can be quite a breeathtaking sight to see.
The Philippines is definitely a beautiful country, and I am glad that you are getting to know it! 🤗

to answer Phezz's question (this is only to name the head of the country at the time)
before 1521: we have Sultanate type of government where a kingdom is ruled by a Sultan or Rajah (i'm not sure if this was borrowed from Indians since it literally means the same and holds the same power/position as an Indian Rajah)
    Spanish colonization
1521-1898: we were ruled by Spanish-Mexican government which is led by a Governor-General appointed by the Spanish King. although this is only in paper or in name since most of the power goes to Friars who were heads of each Cathedral and thus has a say to any policies declared in the town where the Cathedral was built.
    American Colonization
1898: we had our first Philippine Republic which is led by a President thru voting. this is controversial since Treaty of Paris existed hence the American colonization.
1935-1946: Commonwealth government, still headed by a President.
1946-1965: Presidential Government, headed by a President (this is by far the era that I know no one is influencing us or that a President is never actign as a puppet to any nations who tried to colonize our country)
1965-1983: Parliamentary Government, headed by a Prime Minister. history may tell a lot of things from this but most of the people who lived in this era does not remember that it was a Prime Minister, rather they remember it to be a Dictator.
1983- present: Presidential government, headed by a President (now in its more structural form with Executive, Legislative and Judiciary components)
