Headliner and sunroof fabric is from water ingress. That crack is likely the main cause. Rarely do you see something like that though
There's a unique methodology for approaching range rover repair/refurbishing that all hobby mechanics would enjoy over hondas and toyotas and it's overall more satisfying
Pray that rock auto has everything you need..

I did not hear a detailed description of the electrical issues. However, I recently had a bad ground. The battery was testing good. The car would not turn over via the starter. The symptom that was interesting to me was the fact that the voltage in the interior fuse box was low. I was using a bolt on the body for the ground of my voltmeter. I was seeing something like 10 or 11 volts. In my mind, I thought maybe I was just not finding a good ground. I took jumper cables and hooked them to the negative battery terminal and use this for the negative of my voltmeter, so I could check the fuses. Later, I realized that the body was not grounded and the bolt I was trying to use for negative should have worked. I was able to correct the voltage back to normal via a jumper cable to the negative battery terminal and hooking that directly to the ground on the engine block. When I did this, the voltage in the interior fuse box went back to normal voltage. The problem ended up being the connection directly from the ground of the battery that went to the body of the car. These connections were physically tight and visually fine. I took the bolts out and ground paint off of the car body and cleaned the bolts. I put them back in and the car would start and all voltages were normal (around 12.6 volts). After tightening the bolts back up to the newly ground bare metal surface, I put dielectric grease over the top to cover the exposed metal. This way, it would not rust and moisture would keep out.

Hi Swamp guys ye the range rover hse is a magnificent vehicle to own and drive until they begin giving trouble , they,re quiet a expensive to maintain spares are very costly as a lot can go wrong but alternatively can be ok if proper care is given then they,re be a good vehicle to own.

I know a few things about the range rovers. I own a 2006 Range Rover sport for about 4 years and a 2016 Land Rover LR4 and I love them!
From 2005-2009 jaguar owned them and they put their 4.4L engine on the sports and the full size. From 2010-2013 BMW owned them and the put their infamous 5.0 engine that had head gaskets issues and so on (but mainly known for their timing chain tensioners that ware down and cause lose tension on the chain at about 110,000miles). From 2014-2019 Ford owned a big part of the company and instead of the 5.0BMW engine they put their 5.0 mustang GT coyote engine in them (Fords most reliable engine to be made).
Sorry if this is kinda a lot, on the battery there is a BMS module that manages battery voltage with battery age to somehow preserve the life of the battery. But anyway it has about a 50/50 shot when you replace it with a new one that you will have a bunch of warning lights, if you do then you will have to take it to the dealer or independent shop, or you can buy a IID tool to reprogram the (BMS) to have your battery in tip top condition (with all functions back).
Also with the cracking in the roof, non of the range rovers are know to have a cracking roof. So I’m thinking it’s maybe bondo from a previous repair? Generally from my experience, the Range Rovers are pretty reliable besides the 2010-13 BMW owned cars. Anything newer than 2013 or older than 2010 is basically a ford and as reliable as one.
This is the first vid I’ve watched from you guys and I’m definitely going to be a long time subscriber! If you have any questions I might be able to help out, good luck!!

Hello, I don't mean to correct you, but BMW owned Land Rover from 1994 to 2000. They developed the L322 Range Rover during that time and the project continued under Ford ownership (which was 2000 to 2008). Ford sold Land Rover to Tata Motors in 2008 and they still own the brand.
I don't know exactly why the Range Rover was a full-fledged BMW through 2005. Perhaps it had to do with negotiated contracts. It kept a fair amount of BMW sourced parts until the end of production in 2012. I don't know if the L405 has any BMW sourced parts, but interestingly the Defender L316 had some BMW parts until the end in 2016 (e.g. fuel pump locking ring). And of course Ford parts remained in Land Rovers for a long time after Tata acquired them. It looks like they had an engine contract into 2019. Perhaps that's why there were new engines in Land Rovers for 2020, and recently, a return to BMW V8s.

jaguar and Land rover have always been the same company. BMW bought JLR for £1 in the 90s. They later sold JLR to Ford who then sold it to TATA. the V8 gas where Ford the V8 tdi where bmw the V6 tdi where pegeot/ford colab.
