Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

Edgar and his brother Johnny are the two most underrated musicians of the late 60s early 70s. You should check out the live version of the brothers doing Tobacco Road. Edgar is a multi instrumentalist and Johnny is one of the greatest blues guitarists ever.

"Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter - Tobacco Road (Live)" (channel: JOHNNYWINTER VEVO) --Edgar Winter composed and performed songs of numerous genres including rock, jazz, blues, and pop. His recording of "Tobacco Road" propelled him into the national spotlight. He was brother to the late great Johnny Winter (both were highly talented musicians and great vocalists.)

I first heard this song on the radio in 1976 when I was 9 years old and it immediately made me want to learn how to play drums, I joined the school band the next year and played drums for the next 30 odd years.👍
I read somewhere that Edgar called this "The Drum Song" before renaming it Frankenstein. 🤘
@jimtatro6550 - That's awesome! 😀👍 I'm a drummer myself but am unable to name one singular song as my inspiration. But I was heavily into The Police at the time (1980), and their album 'Zenyatta Mondatta' was among those I'd started to learn the drums to 😊
I played drums until I realized you can't take them to the beach and impress girls and switched back to guitar. It was a good move.
Edgar and Johnny’s mother said that they were born with talent were talented as babies!!!!!
My band got to open for these guys back in the mid '90s. They blew the roof off the place.

I saw Edgar Winter in concert in 1973. I was 17. Aerosmith was a no show. Thank you so much for not stopping the music to talk. It always ruins the mood.
Edgar is the white-haired guy playing all the instruments. His brother Johnny was a famous blues guitarist who played with Edgar and every blues musician in the world, it seems. He helped Muddy Waters in his late-career comeback that might not have happened without him. They’re from East Texas.
The instrument Edgar Winter is playing is called a..wait for it...Keytar. He invented and developed it himself. Saw Edgar a couple of times, once as an opener for The Allman Brothers Band, a very odd pairing, and once with his brother Johnny Winter in an alone and together concert. Of course Edgar played "Frankenstein" at both shows, it was his biggest hit. He had another hit song, with vocals, called "Free Ride", from the same album. The song was called "Frankenstein" because it was cobbled together from various riffs and random song parts they had laying around. The Guitar player on the right, in the white outfit, is Rick Derringer, who had his own hit song with "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo" a few years later.

Mass-produced keytars (a.k.a. remote keyboards) showed up only from the late 70's and were most popular during the 80's; You hardly see them anymore today 🙂

Saw them in 73 when it was hitting the radio. Edgar opened for Alice Cooper, we saw this song played almost exactly like this, about 8 rows from the front. It was a sight to behold !
Edgar's group before this was called White Trash, and they were incredibe. It was a rock/blues, Texas funk band with horns and definitely worth checking out. Suggest Give It Everything You've Got, Keep Playing That Rock n Roll and Good Morning Music. Great stuff!

This was 50 years ago when synthesizers first came out and Edgar Winter had seemingly mastered it overnight. Forgive the Frankenstein pun but this song was a monster when it came out.
Yea man, definitely a great jam. Fun fact: It was early 80s and was in Austin TX visiting family so a brother of mine, a friend and I walked into a bar/poolhall to play a little pool, but we heard Johnny Winter playing in the bar. Walking in the bar, there was Edgar sitting on a bar stool with two women on each side of him. Thought of going to say what's up, instead decided just to wave. Johnny was just tearing it up on stage and another famous fellow Texan, Bobby Keys was sitting in playing Sax, it was great. Peace.

This performance is very hard not to love...for reactors or just anyone who hears it. The abridged studio version was a huge hit and played on all rock radio stations and school dances. 😊
First time I heard this was with some friends in 70s, it was played on an amazing quadraphonic stereo with big speakers and we were all on Mushrooms sitting in the middle of the speakers with laser lights bouncing around the room. It was an amazing way to experience the ‘They Only Come about At Night album for the first time. I’ve seen both him and his brother in concert a few times after that, very talented family.
When the studio version came on the radio in my youth, I would always crank it up gradually as the electronic wawa continued.
I remember this being played on the radio as a new song. It was so different and refreshing. What a fun tune. The synth solo was very unusual for radio back then.
That was Edgar, playing everything. He played a lot more too, plus singing his ass off. He and his brother, Johnny, made some crazy music together.
Edgar can STILL throw down. My best friend whom I've known since about the year that record started playin' on the radio. That friend just saw Edgar a few weeks ago, along with Ringo Starr on the drums. Said he never dreamed he'd see that song played live by Da Man.

A lot of people who listen to this song, watch videos of it and react to it never realize how large of a part of it Rick Derringer played.
The guitarist is Rick Derringer who’s 1960s rock band, The McCoys had an influential smash hit “Hang On Sloopy”. Which fuelled the craze for kids (like I was) to start working bands.

I was 10 or 11 when this first came out i used to sit with my tape recorder/radio and wait for a good sounding song to come on the radio so i could record and get a nice song playlist. First time i heard this on the radio i hit record right away and its been on my playlist since!

Great Reaction! Edgar was the white-haired genius. So, now, check out Johnny Winters who played blues/rock like nobody else. Highway 61 Revisited by Johnny is one of the best Bob Dylan covers ever.

Edgar and his brother Johnny played at Woodstock '69, some of the sweetest blues you'll ever hear.
I see that someone mentioned guitarist Rick Derringer and his solo song Rock & Roll Hoochie-Koo, great song, but someone should also mention that Derringer was also lead guitar and vocal for a band called The McCoys who had a hit song called Hang On Sloopy that I think you'd really like, as well. Also, Edgar has a brother named Johnny Winter, who was a phenomenal blues guitarist with a great band, early on, Edgar played and sang with Johnny's band sometimes. I'd recommend a cover recording by the two of them, of the song Tobacco Road, that might just blow you out of your chair.
Such a great earphone song, the studio version especially. What makes this live version great is seeing them give it their all, and live at that.

The story that was told when I was younger that stuck with me was about the formation of the band. They were trying to find a name that had a catchy gimmick to it because it was felt that was the way it was done in the early 70’s (you know, like Bowie or KISS”). After some discussion and a little arguing, some one from the label just looked at Edgar and said “Dude you’re an albino what more do you need?” Might not be true but it was a common story and is a cool story.
A good suggestion of a song with both Edgar and Johnny Winter would be Tobacco Road which is awesome.

Edgar has recently come out with an album, 'My Brother Johnny,' which won a Grammy. It's a tribute to his big brother, who passed several years ago. RIP.

Edgar and Johnny Winter are brothers. They are both "Albino. From Texas. Johnny was (Died a few years ago) world renowned Superstar Rock/Blues guitarist, in the same class as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton etc. These brothers were (Edgar died recently as well) so darn talented it's unbelievable. You need ro react to the video with both of them together called "Tobacco Road." Your jaw will drop after watching it. That's no Bull either.

Need to hear the album version as well due to the headphone sound effects-particularly the synthesizer break in the middle. Free ride was their other big hit although their ballad Autumn is a great tune as well.

Hey bro, I grew up in the 70’s and watch a lot of reaction videos, thanks for introducing my music to your generation, I don’t subscribe to hardly any RUclipsrs but l find you the best of the bunch and subscribed, not sure if anyone has already commented but if you liked this song you have to do a reaction to Johnny (RRHFer) and Edgar Winter doing a live version of Tobacco Road 1976 I believe, I promise you won’t be disappointed, I’m also a RUclipsr “Gypsy rock channel” but I do travel videos. The thing that separates you from the rest is you have a better knowledge of music and I like that you don’t pause too much, and at the end you do a deeper dive and research the artist, can’t wait for your Tobacco Road live reaction. Edgar and his brother Johnny are albino , they couldn't play outside as kids , so they stayed inside and learned how to play instruments . They both know how to play all instruments , but Johnny mainly stuck to the guitar , but Edgar played everything else , and they played them very well as you can tell !! Just wait until you check out Tobacco Road !! Both brothers are jammin together !!

R.I.P. to Johnny Winter - they have a dobro style resonator guitar (like Oliver Anthony) at Republic Guitars called the Highway 61 (damn sweet) and it's a Johnny Winter design. Saw them a few years ago in Cambridge, England, on a double bill with Alvin Lee just before he died. We really went to see Alvin but, I must say Edgar and co were pretty impressive.
