Come to Queens. The shooting is particularly interesting on Roosevelt Ave, under the 7 train. I suggest start out around Queens Boro Plaza, then make your way up to Flushing. It's roughly a 2 to 3 hour walk, but we'll worth it. I used to do it weekly when I was shooting.
@@edpavez awesome! Starting out in LIC, it's a little on the industrial side, but there's plenty of galleries and the PS1 museum. After you'll hit Sunnyside, Woodside, and Jackson Heights. Jackson Heights has a fascinating mix of ethnicities and fanatic places to eat and drink. Next you'll be in Elmhurst (my favorite to shoot), filled with energy. Mostly South American cultures, and tons of street venders. I suggest checking out Terraza 7 for its interior and grabbing a beer to beat the heat. You'll hit Corona, and I highly recommend stopping by Corona Park to check out the iconic World's Fair Globe. Shortly after, you'll be in Flushing. Similar to Chinatown in Manhattan, but a hell of a lot more people, and with great shooting opportunities. Hope you enjoy.
This was great to watch. I would see you frame the shot and I couldn't mself see a good composition, but seeing the actual framing afterwards showed all excellent photos. Really eye opening. I've been wanting to improve by street photography. Awesome video man!
The photo at 3:24 gets me. I love how you can see him seeking out the moment and then you hear the shutter fire and boom. Magic. Love this video. Can't wait for more.
There are a lot of shots where I’m trying to figure out WTF you’re eyeing up and trying to capture, then BAM you show the photo... and it’s not what I was seeing at all. That’s the magic of a good photographer, you perfectly capture what the rest of us don’t see.
That’s a very challenging format if you expect to use 100% of the frame for composition. I would love to see you having a video about that. Many times people with that camera compose nicely 70-80% of the frame which could lead you to question such investment.
I really love the xpan format, and you have a great eye. I especially like the foto of the dude holding his dog and the sitting black guy with the walking stick. Hey Ed, Any chance you want to let your xpan go? Since I already have your Mamiya :D ....nah, just kidding.
It's so interesting how all the commenters have their own favorite among the pictures taken. Really makes you think about the nature of art. I liked the one of the sitting black man the best.
I missed you so much! You're an inspiration to me, you shoot because is fun and i find that as society we often forget to do things because we enjoy them. Thank you so much for your hard work, for finding time to shoot an episode, for inspire me to go out there and live.
The Pictures look so awesome! The only thing i wonder about is why you respooled the film? I couldn't find anything about that tecnique in the internet
I shoot this format too, but using a Panoramic back for a 645 camera. I find it can be quite difficult to get good compositions, unless you can isolate the subject creatively somehow. A lot of people seem to be obsessed with the Xpan - maybe because of it’s quirky ness or its status / value, but I would’nt recommend buying it unless you were REALLY up to the challenge of Panoramic. Edit: And had the moneys.
No. I only shoot manual, and there are only three lenses for the xpan, so a video like that would be too short haha. But I’m glad you enjoyed this one. :)
Sadly, no. I would have them. I hate how expensive the X-Pan has become. Also, the Horizon is not like the X-Pan. The Horizon rotates the shutter, creating distorsion. In here, there is zero panoramic distorsion... Hence, the price.
Get a cheap 6x9 Zeiss Ikonta folder camera with a nice Tessar lens, then get the cheap 35mm film -to- 120 film spool adapters. You 've got yourself an X-Pan with 1/10 of the cost.
How do you scan your film? Do you scan it yourself or send it to a shop? (Also I love your videos and because of you and kingjvpes I have joined the minolta gang😁)
Nice one dude! I felt for you on that first shot of the roll, could have been a good one. But hey, you can’t win all the time. Side note, when you doing these action cam roaming videos, do you just leave the video running? Always wondered about that. Must be a pain to edit
Yeah, I leave it running, but it's not so terrible for editing. I see the images and remember more or less where I was and when it was, so I skip the main video until I find the place that matches the image and edit that part. It's tedious, but it works. :)
unless I state that the film has been pushed, it's always shot at box speed. the developer was a df96, but the results are not different from any other developer. everything in 35mm on my channel is scanned with a Pakon f135+
Ughhh people who scream like that in public seeing a friend... just not needed. Ive gone several years without seeing a friend but have never felt the need to scream hysterically when seeing them haha. Great video though!
love your vids man - they are basically true photography with none of the bs
It's like a 10-mins travel with carefully curated music, complete emersion. You are the best friend I never had and wish I will have.
Today is a good day. Thank you for this sir!!!!!
The most honest photogrpahy chanel in youtube. I will never tire watching you shoot

Great music in this one on top of the great photos. LOVE the X-Pan. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, my man. :D
Xpan is back!!

I truly love your photos of people taking photos 😍😍😍
I love most everything you do but the xpan is your true instrument

This is like your old school stuff man love it
Another great video! Love your eye for photography!
Perfect timing with the lady at 4:36 ! Love your work Ed!

Great RAW street photography video! You just walk around like your invisible. I like the music! Nice work!
Some gorgeous image, excellent video man! Nice camera, but that lens clarity..wow! Thanks for sharing
I would've loved to see some vertical shots.

This one was so good, amazing photos on a cool camera, and props to your buddies for the awesome background music
Love your vids! Love your style, just go out and have fun.
Always love watching your videos! You inspire me every time to go out and shoot. Thanks for the awesome vid and hope you PhD program is going well 😃
Always smile when I see you have uploaded a new video. Enjoy your style of video and talent for composition
Agreed ! He always makes great videos. I think it is pretty hard composing with this camera. Just so much in frame to take into account.
Commenting before I've even watched the video.. your XPan episodes are always my favourites, love the images you capture with it!
lovely episode and huge inspiration! thank you.
Nice to see you back!
just wow! beautiful pictures!
this song at the beginning is a jam and a half. good luck with school, hope you get some time for more videos.
Not only do you make incredible videos that educational and artistic you’re photos are ridiculously good as well love it man 🔥🔥
I’ve been silently waiting for this video ever since you moved to NY. Love it!
I missed you so much! You're an inspiration to me, you shoot because is fun and i find that as society we often forget to do things because we enjoy them. Thank you so much for your hard work, for finding time to shoot an episode, for inspire me to go out there and live.
Been waiting so long for an X-Pan street session. Thanks. Loved it. Want one!
Love it! Love the last song too.
i loved being around Timesquare in NYC. There's always something happening. very very nice place for street photography
Back in a big way- great episode!
You said you'd show us all the pics, good and bad....where were the bad ones? 😋😊
Awesome, great shots!
The music at the beginning is phenomenal. What’s the song called/who is the artist? Thanks for the new video!
The Pictures look so awesome! The only thing i wonder about is why you respooled the film? I couldn't find anything about that tecnique in the internet
Because I buy in bulks of 100ft and use a bulk loader. It saves money.
@@edpavez Aaah okay! Thank you for answering my question :D
@@THESTARKCHANNEL no problem! I'm glad to help out, specially if it helps you find cheaper ways of shooting film! :)
wow, your eye draws to the amazing juxtaposition of cultures, amidst a super commercial backdrop

Thank you for another great video,
It is not easy to fill all of the huge frame with meaningful data
Sooooo good!
that was a good one.. I even liked the music 🎶!
Anyone knows the name of the first song?
That girl made eye contact for like .3 seconds and you caught it...
Always a nice work
I saw the video title, and without seeing your name, I just knew it was you whipping out that X-Pan again.
Fuji needs to do a digital version of this camera !
Great video and I loved the music. 👏
Always amazed by your XPAN street photography! what lens did you use? Is it a 45mm?
Yep. There are only three lenses and they are SUPER different. This (45) is the standard.
Great video..do you have a video on camera, lens, film settings when using the xPan?
No. I only shoot manual, and there are only three lenses for the xpan, so a video like that would be too short haha. But I’m glad you enjoyed this one. :)
@@edpavez was just curious if you manual focused or used the distance measuring on your lens when shooting your people shots. Thanks.
@@kylewood8327 with the xpan I always focus manually and shoot wide open.
Nice! Why do you use 90mm so rarely?
Great video!
5:45 is a classic shot.
Love your work as always. Much prefer the old solo drum though ;)
This music is beautiful, really suites working on the street. Who is it by?
Again a great video!!! but was that a vista film? would have liked to see a vertical picture:)
the 3rd photo of that kid on her dads shoulders was so nice
I like the way that camera shaking make it feel real 💯👍🏾
Brutal Edu! Salu2
Makes me think I should take out my poor man's Xpan. Namely the Lomo Sprocket Rocket.
We are still waiting for the Hegel video!!

Woww its magical . . Really.. magic 😁
I don't think I'll ever afford one but I love the format. Apart from Horizons, are there any cheaper cameras that kind of does the same thing?
Sadly, no. I would have them. I hate how expensive the X-Pan has become. Also, the Horizon is not like the X-Pan. The Horizon rotates the shutter, creating distorsion. In here, there is zero panoramic distorsion... Hence, the price.
Beautiful Panoramics, your shots make me wanna invest on one very very sooon.

Brilliant!
How do you scan your film? Do you scan it yourself or send it to a shop? (Also I love your videos and because of you and kingjvpes I have joined the minolta gang😁)
All my 35mm film I scan it with a Pakon F135+
I never use shops. Everything in here is DIY. :)
Really want one of these
Excellent man...what were your exposure settings?

Very very nice. Which lens were you using ?
The standard kit lens: 45mm f/4
@@edpavez Ok. Thank you for the response.
ah love it. hopefully i can save up for an xpan this summer
i think your best work comes with the xpan.
I really like the results! May I ask what developer did you use?
It makes me sad that I’ll probably never own an x-pan, especially since no one can fix them anymore😔
Awesome!!
