I have uninstalled and canceled my Final Shape preorder. I will not be coming back until the greedy, clueless, idiotic, completely detached executives/management at Bungie are removed and replaced. Not just replaced with more faceless suits, but with people who actually want to be apart of the community and understand what/who drives their games and what the PEOPLE PAYING THEIR SALARIES (customers, gamers) want to see the game become. There is no compromise here, the line in the sand has been drawn.

Im a 3D rigging artist working in movie industry, and I have worked in the gaming industry. This happens everywhere in the world. These are jobs that come and go, what i mean with that is in a lot of cases its or the employee that is job hopping all the time from interesting projects to another. Or in other cases youre getting a fixed contract, be able to work for a while in the same company, but eventually you will get fired or leave yourself. Ive seen people get fired in the company 20 at once on the same day, even more. All were good colleagues and friends. It is getting the morale low, and it will get up again. I have been through this myself and I have seen it happen around me. These jobs are hard work, isnt payed very well for the amount of work you do. And its very stressful. You have to love the job and the work. Thats what keeps you driving. Its sad, I dont blame the companies anymore, i agree it should change. But its the way it is and business in this kind of industry. Its something im witnessing for 15 years now. Nothing really new, these artist will get a new job fast. Specially with how remote work became so big.
I agree but people NEED to be outraged by things in our society in order to get them to change. You can't politely ask corporations for anything, they'll never do it. You have to strike, unionize, or publicly criticize them enough to force them to change. If everyone just passively accepts the state of things and only _wishes_ for it to change, than nothing will ever actually improve. And they will just keep taking more from us. Even now, it might already be too late.

The game just isn't the same anymore. I have to many hours dumped into this universe for the traveler to just squirt flower juice all over everything. Bringing Cayde back was a cash grab, and the direction of the story has no fluidity. Half the time I'm just doing shit for something made up that might affect something in a possible future DLC. Love the idea of destiny, hate what we've gotten since D2! (sry for being negative)

I don't think there is any plans to discontinue D2 after final shape. The main reason is the reaction of every dev after being laid off. You would think that if Final Shape was the last big update and there was nothing after it, they would be expecting massive cuts. Even if they weren't explicitly told that it was over, the lack of planned content would speak for itself and it would be clear that it was over. But that didn't happen. There was clearly plans to do more and all of the devs were caught off guard by the cuts.
i guess i dont understand the arguement everyone has about how they said no lay offs are gonna happen cause of the merger. Then a year and a half later there are lay offs due to missed revenue goals. Thats not cause of the merger. Plus how long would bungie have to wait to lay off people so the community doesnt think its cause of the merger? They said this was a bungie thing not a sony thing. Every single one of these employees got a severance package. I've always disliked and these employees If should have seen it coming and not have their heads in the sand. The big red flag was when they were told. Two weeks ago they were forty five percent off of Their target revenues for the year I have been through this, and these employees are not the first. They need to be thankful they only trimmed 8% of the work force. I canceled my preorder and the fact is, they did not get as many as they expectedid, and this most likely is just the first round. You may not Agree with those that they cut however they had to look at those not directly tied production. Revenues are down for a game that is in the mature stage of it's cycle. Bungie management is crap we all can agree to that If you have worked in corporate america, then you will realize that What they did and how they did. It is pretty much standard operating procedure, especially when you have sensitive materials. In a right to work state 30 days notice no insurance out the door. Unfortunately, since they got a severance. They most likely will not qualify for the first 12 weeks of unemployment.
There are still many gaps in official information. Sony can easily require restructure and leave it to Bungie to make the though decisions. Sony could also have dropped this surprise despite previous promises post acquisition. I think about Bungie potentially knowing about this and still publishing all the Episodic schedule months for next year all to delay and clean house? Doubtful. But that could be wrong too, the point is that it remains pointless to speculate too heavily one way or another. I'm sure the blame scale has weight on both ends, but we don't have enough info yet to determine which side it's leaning. Also, remember that there are still many talented people at Bungie, so we shouldn't overlook them in our outcry or hopes for failure, etc. Keep calling attention at info rolls out, but be supportive to one another. If we're starting to sink, it'll be better together 🤝.

Welp I'm glad I haven't wasted any time on this game for the last handful of months. Really is too bad though, best gunplay of all time, some of the best music in the last decade+, and, somehow, one of the most loyal fanbases in recent memory for a game that doesn't really empower the playerbase all that much.
Because I don't sugar coat my feedback. I'd like it to be known tho that any of the employees that have me blocked I've never directly spoken to them or harassed them at any point

This is an interesting twist. Intentionally, we caused a massive butterfly effect in bungie's hierarchy. Players decided to boycott the final shape pre orders due to lightfall reception which led to only half of the projected sales. Now bungie is trying their best to find a solution for this financial hole and here we go. Players aren't responsible for the way it was handled, but we are the direct cause of this happening. Because of us.many people lost their jobs, we lost one of the best composers in the industry, we have to wait for the conclusion for extra months and might see destiny end in the most tragic way possible.. Instead of getting the quality we wanted, we got this. Again, we WEREN'T meant to be responsible for this, but because of the way the world works, we technically ARE.
Your logic is fundamentally flawed...the "boycotts" which are NOT boycotts but instead refusing to pay early for a product with no guarantee of quality resulted from BUNGIE releasing the past DLC...let's be real here. New subclass, a ton of quality of life features, positive changes in the PvE and PvP sandbox. In terms of that (not the story), I think lightfall might beat every other expansion apart from forsaken maybe. Fundamentally wrong? Is revenue down not because players decided to not buy the final shape? Am I missing something? The Main reason people got disappointed with lightfall in the first place is the fact that, initially, it was supposed to be the conclusion so the expectations were at all times high.

No company is forcing people to buy their product but they will do things to make people want too. My company closed 50 stores a few years back and even forbes wrote an article saying the company was going under this is so bad. Today the company is doing more revenue than it ever has. It is about money and always will be, but its all business strategies. Yes they could have done things better but ive seen people done dirty by other companies too. Anyone who thinks a company or person saying they have great values and are all inclusive or whatever is just fooling themselves. The CEO coming out and saying that stuff I dont think was bad. He complemented the people and hoped they got another job soon. People are just mad and wants answers, i get it, we all do. But if you are gonna bash bungie for all of this you gotta bash every other company who has done the same and thats a lot. Companies restructure all the time and unless you are in a union you could be on the chopping block at any given time. Seeing your coworkers get laid off doesnt increase your chances of being laidoff, the chance of people getting laid off is always there, we just dont think about it. Its that corportate greed.

There are still many gaps in official information. Sony can easily require restructure and leave it to Bungie to make the though decisions. Sony could also have dropped this surprise despite previous promises post acquisition. I think about Bungie potentially knowing about this and still publishing all the Episodic schedule months for next year all to delay and clean house? Doubtful. But that could be wrong too, the point is that it remains pointless to speculate too heavily one way or another. I'm sure the blame scale has weight on both ends, but we don't have enough info yet to determine which side it's leaning. Also, remember that there are still many talented people at Bungie, so we shouldn't overlook them in our outcry or hopes for failure, etc. Keep calling attention at info rolls out, but be supportive to one another. If we're starting to sink, it'll be better together 🤝.

This is an interesting twist. Intentionally, we caused a massive butterfly effect in bungie's hierarchy.
Players decided to boycott the final shape pre orders due to lightfall reception which led to only half of the projected sales. Now bungie is trying their best to find a solution for this financial hole and here we go.
Players aren't responsible for the way it was handled, but we are the direct cause of this happening. Because of us.many people lost their jobs, we lost one of the best composers in the industry, we have to wait for the conclusion for extra months and might see destiny end in the most tragic way possible..
Instead of getting the quality we wanted, we got this. Again, we WEREN'T meant to be responsible for this, but because of the way the world works, we technically ARE.
Your logic is fundamentally flawed...the "boycotts" which are NOT boycotts but instead refusing to pay early for a product with no guarantee of quality resulted from BUNGIE releasing the past DLC...let's be real here. @@masque9446 The only thing that was a flop is the store. Everything else added in lightfall was actually really good. New subclass, a ton of quality of life features, positive changes in the PvE and PvP sandbox. In terms of that (not the story), I think lightfall might beat every other expansion apart from forsaken maybe.
