This is a great video. It is important to push yourself into situations that will strengthen your balance.
For people that have it for long periods of time, realize that it is now the eyes and the body that take over the balance function, and it does it really well. I had this hit me 2 years ago. I was in a state of panic for about 2 months and then finally realized I needed to do vestibular exercises after seeing an ENT. The exercises started to help right away and over time (i would say 6 weeks) I saw a major improvement. The problem caused me so much anxiety as well and it was horrible, but remember everything will be ok! Do the exercises and you will see improvement. You can see a vestibular therapist or do exercises here on youtube.

thank you for update. I watched your first video last year when I first got sick and it gave me some hope. I am on month 11. Sadly I didn't do anything for the first 5 months which set my recovery back so let this be a lesson for anyone who has this. As soon as you able to move, start moving. I am def improved from 5 months ago as I started to get active, go stores and do my normal things. That's the only thing that will help. You HAVE to do this.I am not recovered yet but I have hope that I will overcome this.

If I go into stores and do anything physical I get this weird feeling, like I just got off merry go round. Its messed up. I think my damage maybe be permanent:( I been trying to make peace with it but its been rough. PS I am 44

Its funny that the online literature says 6-8 weeks for recovery.
It seems EVERYONE online takes 2-4 years. I mean fucking hell, where do they get 6-8 weeks from? Unless its only the people who are uncompensated who post online, which is a possibility.

    • @thestrandhouse

I agree that the literature does seem quite generous in terms of recovery time--but yeah, like you say, hopefully we're only seeing the bad stories of people who never compensate.

I think this is what I have. It started as weird wave sensations in my head and neck after a minor car accident. I haven’t really been able to see a doctor as I am uninsured so I don’t know what exactly is wrong. All I know is that it’s gotten progressively worse starting from last June, with new symptoms stacking on top of the others every month or so. Thanks for this video.

I first got dizzy a week ago, went to bed for about 10 mins, sat up quickly and since then I've been dizzy 24/7 with no breaks in between, I still have to go to work like normal,
And I feel like the doctors give you either no info they just say take these antibiotics, or other doctors just beat around the bush with their answers...
    I'm asthmatic, and sinus problems,
No one can seem to tell me what I have exactly,
And I still don't know the difference between everything...
Is it labyrinthitis, or something else, it all started with a little cold... I just want some answers... So stressful

Hey thanks man for putting out this video. This is inspiring. I’ve had this problem for close to a year now. First three months were absolute hell, although I have seen improvement. I am like 70-80% better I would say. I just feel weird sensations with my eyes when focusing on objects. I’ll try the VRT exercises a couple times a day, along with hitting the gym, and taking those supplements.
The VRT exercises drive my eyes crazy, and I feel like shit afterwards, but I suppose that’s a good sign towards recovery. Thanks for the video man! Good to hear you’re doing so well even though you made this video a couple years ago!

I was diagnosed with VN in 2012, so I know exactly what you have been through these past couple years. Its a roller coaster ride to say the least. Even after 3 years I still have my issues, but thankfully it has been improving drastically as of late after discontinuing anti-anxiety meds. I still have my issues though, mostly neck stiffness, subtle migraines, being around large crowds.. that kind of thing. I am going to try switching my diet and add supplements to see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the update.

    • @MG-cu9pd
      @MG-cu9pd 9 лет назад

+nicholas hays I've been suffering for 2 years 4 months now. I still have neck stiffness and migraines. I tried acupuncture with electro-stimulation and it does help ease the tension. I also developed GERD along with this issue. There are food triggers that would make me even more dizzy sick and nauseated so I watch what I eat. I still experience shifting and rocking motions, but my anxiety has reduced. I've noticed the only time I feel panicky now and my heart palpitates is if I have heartburn or feel nauseous. I refused to take medication no matter how terrible I felt. Anti-dizziness medication hinders compensation. I try to stay active most of the time and avoid getting sick. I relapsed after having another virus, which I believe is the reason why I'm recovering so slow. I've had true vertigo twice since the onset and both times I had a throat issue following a cold. My head feels goofy, I have tinnitus, and nystagmus improving. Try taking vitamin B as well.

Still I had something like a headache / pressure. That happened always when I was somewhere where the lights were to bright / sunlight.
Now I use polarized sunglasses 3p and I had not a single headache / brain fog / pressure. Please try it :)

Your story is inspirational. I have to ask:
Did you ever have the brain fog (inability to think) associated with VN, and if so, how did you manage it?
I am 2.5 weeks into my first bout with VN (currently seeing doctors and hoping it's not endolymphmatic hydrops), and the brain fog is scary as hell. It seems to wax and wane slightly but is always there. Another question:
How bad was your dizziness and was it constant (as in, 24/7), or episodic (would occur only in brief bouts)? My dizziness is 24/7.
Thank you so much for telling us your story, it gives me strength to believe that one day I will recover from this.

Hey Man. Thanks for the video and some positivity! Happy to see you recovered. I believe I am suffering from the same. My hearing is normal and so are other tests including CT scans. My doctor did not particularly label this as Vestibular neuritis but said the symptoms were similar. I am two months in now and trying to deal with this every day and the more I research more I feel that I have the same condition.
Did you Doctor prescribe you xanax? It's the only thing that seems to help me right now and I take it as needed. Is it safe to take for sometime? Also, could you please link the particular VRT exercises that you were doing, that would be helpful.

Hey SkarpzHardstyle I am about 50% better but still get bouts of dizziness randomly. I'm taking meds and hoping it gets better.
      Good luck to you.

Thanks. Do you have any problem walking or a weird feeling in your brain? Or just random dizziness sometimes? Hope you get better.

Hi, I see you & I see light at the end of this. Very dark tunnel! You looks like my brothers friends too.. ha it all started for me on sep 11 and it's been really hard!! How did u stay positive through all of this? Also did you experience off balance 24/7 or just moments of it?

Thank you so much for your vídeo... It's now 2017 haha... But I just pumped into this video searching info on this thing... It's been 7 weeks for me with Vestibular Neuritis. I'm a dancer, singer and actress and as you can imagine it really sucks :(... I'm eating super healthy and doing all the excercises... But with quite slow results. I felt really related to your supermarket experience... Was the exact same for me... Any other recomendation will be appreciated, thanks!!

+Jade Phillips have you gotten any better since last time you left you comments..happened to me 2 months ago and hope to get out of this soon....

Hi, Yeah I have gotten a lot better since I last left comments! I wouldnt say I have 100% recovered, say for example I get ill my symptoms flare up again. However I have pretty much learnt to live with the effects of this illness and get along with my life pretty much the same as normal on most days! Theres just the odd day that I begin to feel bad again and may feel as though I need to rest because when im really tired it can be hard to push myself. All I can say is slowly but surely push yourself to do things you may find challenging and just ease your way back into things!

Big mistake on going vegan I know people that are vegan and that the sickly as people I know I'm telling you if you want to be healthy you got to have meat I'm not saying any me I'm saying organic pasture-raised good quality meat you cannot build your narrow transmitters properly without it can I build muscle the way you want without it you can't recover properly without it please rethink this vegan thing and you might not feel bad now usually people feel good on it for the first year but then they hit up huge wall and have all kinds of sicknesses illnesses depression anxiety because they're not getting proper nutrition sorry true so it's a fad that's what people are jumping on the Fad wagon
