I have lived in ABQ my entire 48years and it still amazes me. It never gets old. It is spectacular. I use to crew many years ago, there is nothing like getting in a balloon at fiesta!!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!!.
Grew up in Albuquerque and moved away for college. For years my wife had to listen to me talk about the Balloon Fiesta. Finally about six years ago I took my wife, 80+ year old mother-in-law and her best friend. They were like two little kids running around. It was amazing.
Another tip for those with kids: Each balloon passes out cards (similar to baseball cards). My kids love to collect them over the years and watch their pile grow!
I've lived here 11 years. The Balloon Fest is really something. I encourage everyone to try it once. It goes for 9 days at the start of Oct, at sunrise. If the weather is bad, they won't go up, and that's disappointing, but that's part of the game-- you get up wicked early and don't get to see anything. But when the weather is fair, and they go up, you won't regret visiting. There can be as many as 700 balloons flying around the city. As a resident, even if you don't go to the Fiesta Grounds, you drive to work, and there are hundreds of balloons overhead.
Such a magical event. Must go at least once if you ever have the opportunity. The beauty of the mountains and the balloons is only matched by the pure joy of seeing the balloons lift off while being cheered on by the crowd.
This year in 2023 we get both the Balloon Fiesta and Annular Eclipse on October 14th. Albuquerque will be best place in the US to see the eclipse. As the eclipse happens there will be a balloon glow and happens right after the mass ascension at 10:35am.
One of the greatest things in the world to witness with naked eyes , I would say !! Watching this video definitely gives it justice !! Thank you for sharing this with us.
Well done Juliana! It's nice to see the perspective of a newbie. Lived here all my life and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta never gets old. Largest gathering of the nicest people you'll ever meet too. Thank you

The fiesta was fantastic. I ate at Barela's coffee house, which was phenomenal, and went to the Pueblo Indian Cultural Museum to catch the indigenous ceremonial dance for the solar eclipse! Thanks for all the recommendations!@@TouristtoLocal
This video was FABULOUS! We live less than 2 miles away from the park so have become spoiled and sort of jaded about it. This was such a nice video to reconnect with the event! We do, however, have an AirBnB and an RV spot with incredible views of the balloons as they take off and also as they land around us, so please let me know if you'd like to stay with us next time you come to Albuquerque! I LOVED what you did and would welcome the opportunity to give you a warm Albuquerque Welcome next time you are here! Thanks again for the fabulous video!
Hi loved your video❤️we were at the BalloonFiesta and had a fantastic time. We stood at Cochiti campground in Cochiti about 35 miles from Albuquerque. We drove to Hoffman town church and parked from there we were shuttled right to the doorstep of the BalloonFiesta. Excellent reliable service. The campground is beautiful and very clean peaceful and showers.
I've been there twice and have recommended this trip to many people. You are on balloon field with the balloons going up all around you. I have family in Albuquerque and the view from their house is beautiful. Because of the pandemic it was a little smaller this year but still totally worth seeing. They also have a museum and a great art fair. The food is wonderful and be sure to buy a book showing all the balloons with the info on country of origin. That is one of my favorite souvenirs. Be sure to check out Old Town for some great silver jewelry and if you have time drive over to Santa Fe for some more great shopping.
I regret not going to the museum! It's such a big event, and we never made it that way! We want to do Santa Fe next time we come :) Thanks for watching!

I've lived here my whole life. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is my all time favorite event in Albuquerque. Thank you. I love Tha Albuuerque International Balloon Fiesta.
Greeting from Albq, NM!! This was a great video and glad you enjoyed yourselves. I’ve lived here 18yrs now but was born and raised an hour away from here. Even though I’ve only been to the Balloon Fiesta twice, I enjoy this time of year to see all the beautiful balloon filled skies. I live on the opposite end of the fiesta site but sometimes we have balloons going over our house or landing in the fields and streets nearby. You can hear the burst of flame as they fly overhead, I love it. Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m so glad you had a great experience, minus the taxi situation of course. Look forward to your other video sharing the other part of your stay here.
Just stumbled on your web site. Thank you some girlfriends and I are thinking of going out next year 2022 and celebrating big birthdays! Thank you for all your wonderful tips and pictures.
Another tip for newbies, we do not “blow up the balloons”, we inflate them. These are very expensive aircrafts and blowing them up is actually not what we want to ever do. Also note, the oils from your hands will degrade the fabric of the envelopes so while you may want to touch, as shown in the video, the pilots and crews always wear gloves so as not to damage the envelope fabric. As a newbie, we love for you to look but don’t touch. So very lucky that you got a ride during mass ascension on Day 1, truly blessed experience.
I just came from Martin's channel. Absolutely awesome video. I didn't even know they did an event like this one here. Keep pushing Martin to go to 🇨🇱. Chaoo!!
Excellent video! And I cannot believe how you were able to get yourselves into a balloon for free during Balloon Fiesta! Rides with local ride balloons go for $300-$500 per seat to fly from the balloon field! You are blessed! I crew with Polar Dawn balloon chase crew and we fly during Dawn Patrol. You did catch us in the beginning of your video. The bright yellow balloon with orange and blue stripes.
No way! How funny that you found our video and spotted your balloon! Balloon rides are definitely expensive, so the fact we had the whole balloon to ourselves for free...I don't know how we did it. We were incredibly blessed! Funny enough we didn't even think to ask them for a ride! HAHA! We were so pumped with adrenaline that we just said goodbye and wandered down a random street and ordered a Lyft (which thankfully did accept our ride request!). I'm certain we could have got a ride if we weren't so completely awkward 😂
@@TouristtoLocal 1 more day and hopefully we get to fly! We'll be there ready to go at 5am to see what the flight conditions look like! Launching at either Dawn Patrol pad M2 or M4.
Easiest way to get to Balloon Fiesta Park is to catch a park and ride. The Coronado Mall has a section of lot set up where you hop on a bus and it takes you directly to the park. You prepay for it and buy your event tickets in advance. We were on the first bus around 4:30 am. Spent the day and caught it back. Easy peasy.
