I was watching you back in 2019 when you started homeschooling and my eldest was just born! Now I’m starting homeschool with him 😊 so glad you’re still here posting!

I totally agree about picking the style! Unfortunately it's a common piece of advice. I think researching styles also makes you feel like you have to be an expert... but that's why we've got curriculum in the first place so we don't have to be experts! 🙂

I definitely needed to hear these! Starting this year my son with his first year homeschooling and we are very excited but I had all these things you mentioned going on! Thank you for giving me some clarity and just the motivation.

I’m glad we left out morning time till we got in a flow!!! I work with athletes who are deciding to take their kids on their travels and they are loving homeschooling and I see even tho they are new to homeschool they pass on their passion for the sports and I see the kids socialising!!! I’m glad we de schooled and I advise ppl I work with to de school!!! I said I’d never be a classical homeschooler and we are classical homeschoolers!!!

Yes! The idea that my child is going to be weird because I homeschool. Ok, and...?? Why do we all need to fit this cookie cutter idea of what a human should be? We study these great thinkers and inventors and doers, praising them for their contributions to society without acknowledging that so many of these people would now be and were then considered "weird". Our society functions when we have differences. It's GOOD to have people who are weird and quiet or eccentric and wild! We all have our strengths and we all have our weaknesses and we should lean on one another for that reason. It blows my mind that people are so against homeschooling because the one homeschooled family they grew up with that were socially awkward 🤦‍♀️ Doesn't matter that their parents were probably that way, which is why the kids ended up that way. Nothing to do with the act of homeschooling itself....Anyway, I'll step off my soapbox now 😂

I'm that kid that never went to school, like, _ever_. My country allows that, thankfully. And somehow, I'm neither dumb nor had any social problems when I went to an actual college this year.
I understand why some people might see homeschooling as a bad idea - it _arguably_ lets parents to mess up more seriously, it's hard to imagine if you've never dived into this topic yourself and it's often associated with religious fanatics/dangerous sudo-science practices/other potentially dangerous family situations, and it's not always completely unreasonable... but often times, people should really just mind their own business and put their prejudices aside 🙄

@@Sha-1 No, I totally agree that there are those extreme situations and people who take advantage of homeschooling for bad reasons. I just think it's crazy when people are against it merely because they believe it produces "weird people". I see a lot of those types of comments. Weird is the least of my worries. We should all definitely be concerned when it's used for nefarious reasons.

Yeah and who gets to determine what the definition of “weird” people are?😂
Not to mention all the “weird” and socially awkward government school children.
