This video separates Marine X from most of the other EDC YTubers. I’m in my 50s but new to EDC and my inner impulsive child wants to buy everything and/or spend all my time researching everything. Being mindful about how EDC can compliment and not overwhelm for you individual and particular situation is something I am grateful for to Marine X, despite his expensive tastes :)
The biggest thing i've found helps me is build a checklist of tasks with whatever purchase I'm about to make that may be seen as pretty ridiculous. If I can reasonably do the task without it, I don't buy it anymore. This is coming from a SIG guy too.... just because the new hotness dropped, doesn't mean you gotta have it. Took me some time to figure that one out.
I think a lot of people here are “over prepared” when it comes to what they have on them… that is why I really like the multitool. It isn’t amazing at anything, but it is decent at most & not very intimidating to people. One Christmas, I was “that uncle” opening everyone’s gift with my folding knife in one hand & a beer in the other.
I don't know how I started watching edc kit stuff, probably related to gun video and concealed carry stuff and it was recommended. But, the over carrying is a big thing. I don't even carry alot. Like tool wise or edc gear but I was looking at these videos and they have like every trinket they could find stuffed in their pockets. Which is cool, until you need to add something like a new pack of smokes, or change. And it just ends up getting in the way of the usefulness of your pockets. I carry a mini set of Cresent channel locks I use at least twice a day it seems like, a knife, and a flashlight now. Let your pockets be pockets and not holsters. Like this channel! You look at this stuff from a usage standpoint and not be all tactical with shit. One EDC item I'm surprised never gets talked about anywhere is rubber bands. They're like a more compact ducttape roll you don't even feel
I really enjoy this style of video, almost an edc self reflection chat. Its definitely an important part of edc and not many people seem to approach it how you do. Keep up the awesome work mate
Thanks for the wakeup call, Marine. I'm guilty (and lazy) with the hoarding/clutter. Knew it was a problem, but have just been dealing with/accepting it and working around it. But now that I look at it, yeah, it's clutter. It's not a LOT of shit, maybe 10 or 12 knives and a few torx bits, but "somehow" all that stuff works itself out of the drawer and then scattered all over the house. A self-modified SAK that I dropped on the floor 3 months ago and one of the scales popped off: still haven't fixed it, just threw the pieces in a drawer. Anyways, just found your channel, new subscriber. Thanks again🙏🏼
There is only one other dude at my work other than me that cares about EDC. Only two of us amongst 150 plus people who work on machines and heavy equipment. Only two amongst all these supposed manly men who get their hands dirty doing manual jobs. I could not believe it.
When it comes to new edc purchases reflect on what you have and what you need and what you want. These are three possibly different things. And wait a month and watch an episode or two of Every Day Gary.
3/4 Drive sockets for the Truck? Are you doing suspension work? As for me ...Mistakes were made: Usually bought stuff I didn't need because it was on sale. Recently discovered the book "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" by Greg McKeown and am trying to practice being deliberate with the things I want and saying "No" far more often to things that don't matter.
Wow the watch section of the video really hit home. I have two daughters and 3 sons myself so being able to hand something down like a watch would be awesome. Also my Samsung watch has mad features but honestly I very rarely use anything but the time. Time to start looking for an analog. I WFH and my desk usually has way too many knives on it which isn't a big deal but is distracting at times for sure. I really dig your setup bro it's dope!!! Great video!

My EDC sin was getting enamored by the *new thing*. Example: I carry SIG. Enough said.
I had the fomo so bad! I started thinking twice maybe 4 times before not making the purchase. 😆
I feel your pain.

Love my smartwatch. Especially when you're working, i can see texts and whis calling, and if I want to respond, then ill go to the phone.

I have never owned a smart watch, and never will. I love mechanical watches though. I'm looking to be less connected, not more
Definitely guilty of at least a couple of these mistakes. Time to self-reflect 😅
Don’t carry a folder under 4oz. Steel liners always
Glutinous is like an edc diet for me! Lolol
-Go Army!

Yup. Did a full front axle service not too long ago
Great points! I've been dialing back as well and thinking twice before I buy a new EDC item
Exactly!
While I love my analog watches, don’t underestimate the digital Casios and G shocks. 🙌 edit: your discord invite is expired , mind updating it ?
Hey I care lol

Thank you Uncle X!😊
Content keeps getting better and better. On your A game.
Loving the Man Cave, excellent video . I have 2 watches passed down from my late father, very special.
That's awesome
I wear my Apple Watch on my right wrist and my analog watch on my left. The smart watch is just a fitness and sleep tracker for me.
When someone has something to say about how I wear two watches, I tell them to "Pound Sand"
