This video is a great example to others as to how to destroy a blade instead of restoring it. People don't understand that angle grinders are not for blade restoration.
You did a great job of cleaned the rust etc off but you left it there and didn't bother polishing the knife to get the grinder marks off before buffing. I’m not sure why you thought buffing would replace using finer and finer wet and dry sandpaper. The buffing compound should be the last thing to touch the metal to bring out how good a finish you got with the papers. Then you showed all the effort you went to to create a bevel, but then you need to use diamond or whetstones, again going finer and finer stones up to about 12,000 grit. It looked like you were intent on using your grinder or drill to do everything, but surely you saw how the blade looked when you saw it on the video when you were editing. If you did see it you could have gone back to that point of the video and redone the blade so it looked acceptable. There’s no shame in correcting something you could have done better. The handle looks very uncomfortable and I’m not sure how it would hold up to day after day getting converted in blood and hot washing up. Your shortcuts got nowhere near the same results as polishing, sharpening and creating a decent wooden handle would have got you. At this point very roughly about a third of the people giving an opinion of this video have given you a thumbs down. If you put a bit more effort on and didn’t rely on your grinder for everything you could have created something beautiful. I have honestly tried to be as constructive as possible with my comments, though I found little to like except the humour in the cheesy beginning, the job you did cleaning the knife and creating the bevel.
For my appreciation of your dedication to the commitment i am acknowledging is very settle and i found amusement in the speech of text i have been reading. It was a pleasure and i say to you, very well.
You should see his other knife “restoration” video it’s really bad. This guy doesn’t go the extra mile like other restoration/turning rusty junk metal into cool knives and swords channels his katana was decent but cold blueing over the rust marks instead of sanding them away looked really terrible and lazy I thought this guy was decent at first but the more I saw his videos the more I realized he doesn’t do a good job at all
All these rusty restorations look amazingly similar, same coloration, consistent over the whole surface. Some discovered they are a magnet for views which explains all the commercials. Probably fake aging.
It's a little improvement...I would have used tropical hardwood for the handle.. and the blade should have been sanded proper and polished ...I'm sorry but this is a half job done mate
Couldn't have been out in weather very long, notice no pitting of metal. I think it was setup to look old. Plus he never finished it properly. Very poorly done.
What the hell was the point of electrolysis then wire wheel and then sanding disk ??? Complete waist of time just use sanding dist to start with😂😂😂😂as for the handle bloody awful.
I love watching these videos and I like seeing how each person goes about it with different levels of success and skills. However, this finding of a rusted knife in the exact spot you are looking, while you are being filmed, I don't think so. So just leave that part out. (My opinion)
i dont know anything about this could you maybe explain why he did such a bad job? if thats like to much of a time waster to explain it too someone you dont know like i get it.
If it was a simple knife that would have been used on the fly on a camping trip or something like that, then those handle pieces would be good. But imho, a knife like that should have a more decorative, ornate wood. Maybe cherry oak or cocopolo wood, perhaps?
Tupiara
its funny how folks are bad mouthing this video. Its obvious that it was a planted self rusted knife that he put out to get rusty himself. it was a cheap hunk of mild steel that someone prolly cut with a plasma cutter or at best it was one of those 10 dollar pakastan wall hangers that he did this to. It was never going to be a good restoration..and frankly from the video it seems that even if it had been (god forbid) an old antique knife he wouldnt know HOW to restor it so thank gods it was a hunk of junk anyways. But hell, it got the clicks so he is happy.
I acceppt that you may not be very old but you didnt make a very good job of it. The blade has lots of grinding marks and the hilt could have been much better choice of materials. Sorry my friend but this restoration is not upto standard.
I understand from what you did you are still a beginner at this. Watch more youtube videos. Use various grades of sandpaper and a better handle material. It isaniceblade design and I am sure you can do better .
you should have left in the back of that truck bed for someone else to find it looks better all rusty compared to all this grind marks you put on there get yourself some sandpaper
Couldn't have found some nice hardwood or something to make the handle out of and maybe have done a better job on the blade disappointing a 5 year old could have probably done a better job

I bet he can paint with that grinder and brush his teeth with it lol what a Wally

Thanks a lot sir . Your entire observation and humble attitude in explanation , is indeed a lesson for most of us . Thanks , once again .

good work
No creo que sea el mejor trabajo ,
Esta bien para un principiante
It's a little improvement...I would have used tropical hardwood for the handle.. and the blade should have been sanded proper and polished ...I'm sorry but this is a half job done mate
Very beeatiful👍👍
Trabajo incompleto, falta pulido a espejo y basicamente un mango decente.Saludos amigo.
The knife was left unfinished and the handle was left rough in at least 2 places. Greek Tragedy of a Restoration
Awesome buddy awesome
Couldn't have been out in weather very long, notice no pitting of metal. I think it was setup to look old. Plus he never finished it properly. Very poorly done.
...super ...
Good restoration..👍👍👍👍👍
I don't like the handle but the knife is awesome!
What the hell was the point of electrolysis then wire wheel and then sanding disk ??? Complete waist of time just use sanding dist to start with😂😂😂😂as for the handle bloody awful.
Really nice job with very little tools, that knive could eve use at outdoors, primo work 👨🏻👍
That is one big knife.

Same as fake news....
Good effing gawd. You better keep your night shift at the convenience store because you CANNOT work with your hands.
i dont know anything about this could you maybe explain why he did such a bad job? if thats like to much of a time waster to explain it too someone you dont know like i get it.
Very nice I admire you
Good Restoration

Yeah!!!!!!!! You go, Tysy Tube!!!!!!!!!
Verye good
Nice 😍😍😍
Me: No way he can restore this
BL Restoration: You are correct..
Excelente😊👍👏👏
I think the lesson is that if you are going to do something....do it right.
Nice job on the rust but that's it.
Missed a few spots on the handle when sanding, overall great video.
Wow

Kinda thought him digging it up was fake..
Now this is a knife

No gut, no bad.
Kool look
good basic starter project, look forward to you improving your techniques and tools.
Q lindo queda td felicidafes a quien hace posible esta reparación bendiciones gracias x compartir su ciensia
Looks good nice job but could have eliminated about 15 dteps
Is that a tile? The handle slabs?
I searched up restoring old POCKET knives this is what I get
I would have liked to seen you cut some meat with that but that's still some good work
That was too painful so I skip the whole video till the end.
I love the scrubbing process it’s so satisfying
If it was a simple knife that would have been used on the fly on a camping trip or something like that, then those handle pieces would be good. But imho, a knife like that should have a more decorative, ornate wood. Maybe cherry oak or cocopolo wood, perhaps?
knk negüzel tesadüf
All that work then you get out the grinder, wow what a waste of time.
Nice job but i would have done a nice hard wood handle or brass and wood but then again a knife like that the sky is the limit
Is that DRYWALL for the handle??
It's fiberglass.
It’s a shame you didn’t take your time with this. It could have turned out awesome.....

Why did you oil the handle? It looks like a fiber material, not wood.
its funny how folks are bad mouthing this video.

👌👍💗
Looks pretty hood
The Russian Angle grinder Massacre
Berry nice 👉❤🤑🤑
I understand from what you did you are still a beginner at this. Watch more youtube videos. Use various grades of sandpaper and a better handle material. It isaniceblade design and I am sure you can do better .
Is this the best you could do?
mac brown it is horrible job
you should have left in the back of that truck bed for someone else to find it looks better all rusty compared to all this grind marks you put on there get yourself some sandpaper
Did you just save me 10 odd minutes, not sure, I am skipping
Exactly I would have buffed it out until it was shiny where you could see yourself in it. And put a nice wooden handle on it....
I will qq
Couldn't have found some nice hardwood or something to make the handle out of and maybe have done a better job on the blade disappointing a 5 year old could have probably done a better job
Wood and epoxy. Wet sanding. Heat and quench. Sharpen.
Is it bad that I liked the before picture more?
