HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

STEEL FOR MY FRIEND
I keep all my steel and cast iron pieces and I give them to my friend and once he gets about a tonne from me and his own collecting he takes that to the scrapyard and sells it then he buys some beer and comes over to my house and we make a night of it.
No My friend doesn’t have a RUclips channel he just scraps metal in his spare time.

I don't know what I liked more, Bullion in the sweater, or the fact that the boys are watching older BigstackD videos on TV when he goes to check on them

The moment I saw duct tape I immediately thought of Mexican people being one I can confirm this because the most Mexican thing I’ve ever heard was the statement
if it’s broken use duct tape if it doesn’t work you’re not using enough duck tape
I’m going to be honest. I did not expect to see a microwave used as a bowling ball when I woke up this morning.
I never thought I would say this, but "suddenly, a microwave".
>I am depressed
Suddenly, A Microwave
>This isn't helping
Fun fact: Microwaves sometimes have beryllium alloys/ceramics in the magnetron. Beryllium dust is toxic and causes berylliosis in the lungs. Assembled microwaves are safe, careful disassembling, don't smash anything.
@@StephenGillie He always wears a mask and eye protection. He knows how to entertain us safely so we don't need to do it ourselves.
My girlfriend is a microwave. You can see here in my profile picture if you look hard enough
That's where Chef Mike went to...
He is singlehandedly saving the environment. Why toss out used cans when you can melt them and turn them into something more valuable? Why leave junk in a dumpster when you can melt them down and also turn them into something more valuable? On top of this, he throws away dirt and puts recyclable things like plastic into the actual recycling bin. And he sends steel to his friend. Just an absolute king.
😁👊🏻
It takes more than 1 person to save the environment.
@@intruder9127 bruh, no shit lol
We need a 10 hour compilation of just adding aluminum to the crucible while the forge is off. I'll never get tired of watching the cans slowly melt into the molten metal like the T800 at the end of T2
A target of one tonne?. As if you’ll stop when you get there.
One tonne.
One tonne is fun.
But not as fun as two tonne of fun

What about three tonne..

Superb idea ..
Has anyone considered the fact that (here in Canada, anyway) those cans get you 10 cents each when taken to a bottle depot... 204 x $0.10 = $20.40 CDN
That's 3-fold what the value claimed in raw metal is worth. Especially after all that hard work, BigStackD, coulda got yourself another case !
Todd Carney If the first attempt worked though, he’d still get more from it
That's the reason they have a deposit on cans, so people recycle them and not toss them wherever they finish the can.
My neighbor cleans out frat houses and on a Monday she brings home 80 -100 USD worth of cans to recycle.
Just profiting off the laziness of other haha
Maybe Next time, he can trade them in for those dimes, and make a bar out of dimes....
He makes way more on RUclips videos than those cans are worth at the recycling center
Yea we have returned and earn in Aus. Would have received the same back in AUD too
I actually enjoyed the failure, must be the first real failure you have shown. End product was excellent, can’t beat getting your melt on as the weekend starts..........and relax.......beer......pup......sun........live is good!
Need to go back....watch back. See what happens when he melted door knobs. Before that when he had a weee bit too much happy juice and tried to pour. Lmao
Did... did he just throw a microwave?
Lots of nice melty bits in there 😁

Lots of nice highvoltage bits too
During disassembly, be extremely careful around the magnetron's insulator. If you break it, it releases a cloud of powder which will seriously harm your lungs if you inhale it. :(

I just started watching these melt videos and Im freaking hooked on this! Watching the molten metal solidify is so satisfying for some reason! I'm going to start hoarding material and then will look at getting a furnace! Awesome vids!
i love how you show the whole process, even the mistakes, so we can grow and learn with you! great video!
Watching those cans melt was super satisfying
wow, just found someone who has manifested my dream hobby...*subbed*
I love when things go wrong because then you melt it again. Totally cool.
So... Ingot and Bullion are watching you make Ingots and Bullion while you make Ingots and Bullion?

Totally want to see more melts each week if possible. I really enjoy seeing the coin molds being used more often.
Awesome videos. Love watching you melt this stuff
You’ve taught me a lot about metals and how to combine them to make awesome pieces thank you very much
Haha, Ingot belly-scratches himself on the rug the exact same way my Westie, Scarlett does!
Nice and simple big goddamn block of aluminum pour, nothing wrong with that. LOTS of dross from all the paint on those cans, but was to be expected. Would a little borax have helped to pull out any further impurities? I guess not really since your subsequent pour from the failed first bar didn't seem to have much junk if any. Grats to the winners! I guess ima have to break down and buy that small forge (I go through a LOT of cans in a week) if I want to have me a nice mixed-metal coin/have any more fun with my cans then just leaving them out for the garbage-can scroungers on garbage day. You're a good man for sharing the fruits of your labour, BigStackD!
Love the work and Ingot and Bullion are the best boys.
Thank you for another great video. Even when things do not go as planned, it is a learning experience for everyone. Have a great and safe weekend. Already can’t wait for your next video. Cheers 🍻
The satisfaction it brings me, to watch cans be melted, is immense.

It will be a phenomenal day but before that he will need a lot more space else his house will sink into the earth😂😂
Yes but what will he do with it?
I am loving every second of this video
The sounds from this 1 are the best.
The hissing from the soda left in the cans and then the "poof" when he pushes them into the molten aluminum.
Just scratches a kinda itch I didnt even know I had.
Glad the floor didn't explode when the mold leaked. It happened to me when I was cad welding. The mold leaked and the concrete exploded sending molten brass everywhere. One spark landed 12 feet away in a whole case of cad weld shot containing gunpowder and set it all off making a big hole in the floor. I guess I had somebody watching over me that day. I got by without a single burn.
Damn
Sounds like you had a blast!
I was playing with fire before and it was a thing they used to hold 2 litter sofa bottle on a fire messing with it molten plastic him my leg could not do anything about it let it cool down
I could swear this is the first time we've seen him spill an entire ingot?
You are a reliable addition to my life, greatly appreciated my friend.

Hell yeah , nothing better than a few cold beers around a redhot furnace on a winters night👌🏻
wow looks great polished up i love the shine of scrap
I have to admit that I re-watched the ingot collapsing like a souffle many times; strangely satisfying and funny.
Funny I see this right now, bored and decided to try and melt down some lead I got from doing repairs. Used an old steel propane bottle as my crucible and a propane torch. I’m proud of my little lead square I made with a sheet metal mold. Been admiring it for a bit now.
Yes I know it’s dangerous, I took good precautions.
Yeah Don't try it at home unless you have proper safety equipment
I may try melting one day As A thing
Sean Taggart of course, I’ve been working with it for a few years now roofing. Includes welding, so I know what to wear, where to do it, and the safest way.
It was fun, I may get a real setup for other metals because of that. I’d refer others to go that route first(good setup for other metals) though, a lot safer.
When you are sad, but you can watch Big stackD video
After viewing many many of your vids I must say "That, was satisfying ". So thanks stacked 😀
That was awesome...even for an initial failure turned out great. Thanks for the videos each week.
You really just set that beer on top of a mound of its melted comrades...
Nice job. You are inspiration to many!!
Super satisfying watching the steam come out of the cans!
Nice work. This might sound mental but have you tried hitting the local hairdressers up for their used tinfoil? Hear me out. Watched a vid on here where some guy collected over a ton of aluminium from 4 hairdressers in a year. Chicks get foils apparently which is some hair thing that uses a shitload of tinfoil. Might be an untapped source of raw material.
If i remember exactly. The foil is used when discoloring hair.
Good idea, but with australia in such a lockdown it'd be hard to find a hairdresser open.
That I would love to see., big d. All you have to do is let people know you need scrap aluminum foil and everyone would donate. I know I would. 👍
@@greatleader4841 Wuhan Flu
As a former hairdresser I don’t recommend burning bleach and hair color (which is what the foil is used for). Honestly if someone’s gonna collect all the foils they should wash every piece. BUT it would be a nice chunk of aluminum. We use quite a lot of foil for a single whole head bleach. And then eve more if they’re doing multiple colors or some sort of color blending.
So 2 things I think most of us long time fans have been wondering.
1. Did you trade Mrs. Big stack for Bullion?
2. How in the hell do you still not have a beer sponsorship yet?
I was wondering the same. He has a ever increasing fan base and those who follow are here every Friday you would think someone would smart up and get that product placement
There could be an issue with adverts for alcoholic beverages. That's the only thing I can see that would keep him from having a beer sponsor.
@@asarand yeah It's the same as cig companies
They were pushed from The air
The only thing i see now is hard Seltzer or very Small alcoholic Lemonade
