Ok, when I first tried to scan my prescriptions, it didn't work. But, when I went to settings and turned the NFC off then back on it worked. I don't know why however, my G-Pay was setup and turned on.

Why did they take nfc off the 5G. So inconvenient, I wouldn't have bought the phone if I realised it didn't have nfc payments. I need to use them everyday everywhere.i just assumed this was a standard feature of modern phones 🤨

4G model has NFC
5G model Does Not have NFC (and it's hardware, so no updates to fix that one).
-There is differing specs around on the web but I actually have an A13 (5G) in my hand and most of the specs I found say the 5G version has NO NFC

I notice Samsung is slowly dumbing down their devices... My Galaxy Mini circa 2012 allowed me to roll through my main screens and roll over to the start where now you have to scroll back to get to the start... Yay what an improvement?
My 10+ yo phone could have an MPG as a ringtone and start at the start of the tune.. My A13 arbitrarily starts somewhere in the tune... Great when I want the Sweet's "Blockbuster" to play at the beginning!!!
My obsolete nice and tiny phone (still running on its original battery after 10 years) easily allowed you to have your own notification sounds...
My A13 has hidden the notification option at the bottom of the notification settings called [Notification Categories]
Android made these look like they are just a toggle on/off... BUT NO.... choose [Incoming messages] and it gives ANOTHER SCREEN OF OPTIONS...
Why is Samsung/Android taking pages out of Microsoft's book, and removing as many options as they add...
I do. It took me awhile to get it to work. I turned it off and on then put my prescription to the back of it and it worked.
@@ofabin sooo you have a 5G model... and you have NFC working... have they made a 3rd model then as the hardware needed for NFC is not on the 5G model...
That would be like restarting your phone and being able to take pictures with a phone that doesn't have a camera...
If if can be done please please please share.. as every conversation I can find is of disappointed people who found it was impossible without adding some hardware and a patch to use it...

I just wanted to transfer files from my old S5 to my A13 via Near Field... no such luck.
The old S5 has NFC but not the 5G version of the A13
I have low vision and low hearing in my right ear. Anyway, I am on the Spoken Rx program offered by CVS/PHARMACY. You hold your prescription from the bottom and point it to the back of the phone. At first, it would not read my script. I kept working on it, until I finally turned the NFC off and on several times before it read my script.
By the way, my phone is an A13 5G.
@@ofabin Excellent. Sounds like you actually need NFC... and you've lucked out with a A13 5g that actually had the chip built in... For the rest of us with A13 5G... no such luck... (I have searched a fair bit... there is the odd site like phonescoop that says the 5g model HAS NFC so maybe there is a couple of countries that have a different spec... Every other search including Samsung itself say they should be like my phone and not have it...
Mine is a Galaxy A13 5G - SM-A136B/DS according to 'About Phone'...
I bet your A13 5G is a different model.. (the one I should have got... but probably not available in NZ, let alone near everywhere else...
I wonder if they realised how stupid it was not to include a chip that was available since 2006.
