Hello Mr Fox, you are adorable!!! What a joy to work with such talented students! And then there's black clay.....you know I have been struggling with a good clear aswell. So far the transparent by Spectrum has given me the best results, plus I put the glaze on thinner than on my sgraffito pots. I use a different black clay but who knows, it could be worth some testing? Btw, the HF9 by Amaco is a zinc free transparant. I l❤ve your collaboration, those basket are amazing!!! As always, lovely to see you again pottery sis! 🥰🌴
Gday Sarah, your base's are beautiful. What a wonderful and different idea. Ty very much for sharing your ideas. Your videos are very informative. Cheers from Lorraine (slip slop pots) Adelaide, south Australia.
Amazingly, on the screen that black clay bowl looks like a gas/Salt fired kiln item. Maybe Matthew Kelly snuck one of his pieces in. LOLI love your flat work, great colors almost would be tempted to try and frame them to hang. Thank you for sharing, as always amazing pieces.
Thanks so very much for your Super Thanks 😊. It really means a lot to me to have your support. Keep watching the channel- lots of great tutorials I the pipeline. Your kindness makes me feel loved 😍 💗
@@thepotterycorner you are loved. I watch your videos over and over again. And I always pick up something that I missed before. Thank you for adding the subtitles for the names of the glazes, that way I can get a screenshot of the glaze combination I really like. I am working on two WonkyPots (they are being glaze fired). Will send picture when finished. I love your RUclips channel. Thank you for being you.
Lovely fox!! 😍 And lovely basket bases!!♥️ Sorry for the cracked one😢 I had some cracked rhubarbleaves and its not fun when you put lot of work on it 😢
Hello Lesley, regarding the black porcelain, try Amaco Sahara HF-9 Zinc-Free Clear glaze - apparently black clay reacts to zinc. Anyway, worth a try. Cheers from Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
Great tip thanks so much Susan. Can't say as I was particular into any of the black clays I tried. The black porcelain was definitely the best but I don't think I shall be running out to buy more! Great to have you along from across the world and thanks for taking the time to drop me a comment.😊
I tested black porcelain for my workshop sessions. On drinking vessels I only glazed the inside and rim. At 1220c it vitrifies (where reasonably thin) to an exent. I have a number of both black and white porcelain pieces on the shelves and will take them up to 1230/40c to see what that does
Thanks for watching Susy - great information. I fire my glaze kiln up to 1230 degrees C. I don't fire porcelain any higher than that without any problems. Thanks for commenting and sharing your info. 😊
Thankyou for trying out the black clays, that's one thing off my list not to do. What on earth went on with the bowl. Clay is such a complicated thing😅 thankyou for your brilliant informative videos😊
Beautiful baskets and I love the fox! If you could please let me know if you put an odd number of holes in your clay basket base and could you also please write out what kind of clay you use to help prevent cracks. Thank you so much! I love to see you unload your kiln.
Hi Laura and thanks for watching. The clay I use is craft crank which is a more robust stoneware which I use for outdoor pieces. Heavily grogged. I think the bases have an even number of holes for the uprights of the basket. It is the distance between holes that's more important. Hope that helps 😊
Black clay behaves very strangely with a lot of different glazes, I have many glazes that won't work on black clay, some that work surprisingly well, like Snow, and some that look really good on it.
Love the basket bases you showed in this video. I have 2 questions. How far apart are the holes you made in the base? Do you have a video about weaving the basket using a ceramic base or do you have another resource for it? I visited England prior to the Covid shut downs. Wish I had known about your pottery prior to my visit - I would have made a side trip.
Hi Linda and thanks for watching. I'm going to do a video on my collaboration with Willow and yoga at a later date to show both processes so watch out for that! Would have been lovely to meet you 😊
Thanks for watching Barbara and for your helpful feedback. I'm off to see if I can find a zinc free transparent! Not very happy with the black clay results. 😄
Lesley you are so talented. Cant wait to see the totum pieces together
Penguin bowl is Fantastic! Lovely job on the watery shoreline! And I'm loving that AWESOME FOX!!!
Thanks for watching again Marie and for your very kind words 🙏 😊

Hi Sarah, thankyou for the shout out !😁 Really love those basket bases and the finished baskets, they’re beautiful, thankyou for sharing, take care x
Thanks for watching and sending the finished Textured platters. 😊

Wow what a cool totem. I'm making a totem with 4 chickens with egg shaped spacers and a nest with 3 baby chicks for the top.
Thanks for the shout out. I feel so special.
Hi Marie - that sounds great- do send me a photo when it's finished. Be great to see your totem. Great idea to use egg spacers 🐣😊
Thanks!

Hi Helena. Always great to hear from you. Thanks for your continued support 😊
I vote for a cameo from Leslie please!
She'd love that! I might do a bit of filming when the students are here. 😍

I had the same on clayman black clay Sarah. Four coats of Snow ended up looking like dirty slush in the bits that didnt burn off. Bizarre. X
Thanks honey - very disappointing. Shan't rush to use that again!😁
Great video, as always! I think there was something about clear glazes containing zinc will wash underglaze colours out, maybe try a zinc free clear?
Great to hear from you Ryan. I'll certainly check that out. Interesting experiment 🤔 😊

It could be the zinc

@@thepotterycorner - Thanks for the quick response. I will be anxiously awaiting that video.
Zinc in a clear glaze will change the colour of your black clay. The black I use turns chocolate brown with a clear glaze that contains zinc ☹️
