Okay, I think it's pretty damn obvious that you guys enjoy my older content by 100k views in 24 hours. I'm going back to basics with the channel with 3d printing, jerryrigged, technology and tutorials.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm but in the video the quality of the audio dropped as soon as it touched the Gramiphone because not only did it not put out enough bass but it made it sound more airy
+Barnacules Nerdgasm I think it will. Between you and Chuck, you guys were a huge inspiration for me to get a 3D printer and start a channel. Thank you for all the great videos!!!
I love your 3d printing videos! I have wanted a printer for a long time and your videos gave me that little push to finally buy one. I got a prusa kit off of ebay, not super exotic i know, but with some tuning and upgrades (oh yeah... printed), this thing is massively useful. From fun things like an iron man helmet, to practical things like shelf brackets and clips for chip bags. This thing is so useful it's insane. Since buying the printer I have realized how often I overpay for such simple items. Thanks Barnacules AKA Jerry for teaching me the ins and outs of 3d printing.
improve: 1.) make a long cavity for increasing the base, see speaker cabinet design. 2.) reminds me of RCA - add a little dog 3.) is there any way to attach cables while docked? if not add modify
3D-printing kicks ass! I currently use mine to experiment with custom mechanical parts and to make tailored storage boxes for board game utensils. Those who say that 3D-printing is a novelty just aren't using their imagination or don't understand the technology.
+Eugene le Roux Never tried that one, IE doesn't fill me with confidence when even thinking EDGE. I'm a Firefoxer - hate chrome, don't trust IE/EDGE and never liked Opera that much.
+Barnacules you are the reason I got into 3D printing, most of the knowledge I have gained I thank you for. I now own 4 3D printers myself. We have A LOT of things in common, very similar nerd cave, child issues, weight issues. You inspire me! Thanx Dude! Keep up the 3D printing videos.
It is good that I don't have a 3D. Because my curiosity already has me trying the highest quality setting to print the horn for the smoothest surface. Also shortening the horn to tune. Trying different printer mediums. I suspect getting closer to the hardness of ceramic? First sentence covered it. Thanks for the video and making the software look easy to use.
It works by providing impedance matching between the tiny speaker and the air, it is as if the speaker were the size of the front of the cone instead of a centimeter or so. Larger speakers transmit sound to air better, especially low frequencies.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm I've got a few questions; Can you melt down and reuse the material of a print? I relize there may not be a system for doing this out there (yet...) and if that is the case would it be even possible to reuse the material? What happend to codegasm? It's brilliant!! If you are still planing on making more episodes here's an idea - an automatic backup system that would simply run the backup when a specific usb drive gets plugged in (with auto eject once done) and supporting multiple system backups on the same disk. I've found a few similar applications but all seem to be infected. And finally awesome stuff and Batknife never gets old keep it up :)
I won't have enough money to 3D-print for a long time, but I still find this video fascinating. I love the amount of detail you go into in this video. I'm surprised on how stable that design is. I thought the phone would almost fall over when I first saw the design! Please make more!
Do you think a 3d printer or something like an x-carve would be better for someone that would just be using it for occasional diy or just small fun projects.
Cool video thanks. My suggestion to make the sound better is this. Make the base output port longer, then make the horn so it fits on the outside of the output port you should lower how much treble sound you get. Also if you increase the size of the tube this should also change the sound should give you more mids.
Its sounds "tinny" because the horn is so small. That horn is the size you would typically use for a tweeter. It would have to be much bigger to start amplifying midrange. For bass, well, Ive seen a 30 foot long horn with a mouth that was 64 square feet that only reached down to about 40 hz. :)
I'd like to see more 3D printing for models showing what is possible including dissolve-able filament. Maybe a collaboration with PrintedSolid? C&C foam for lost foam casting or lost PLA castings?
Maybe a thought.. But wouldn't the diameter of the hole from the base change the frequency response? I'm imagining maybe an oval tube that runs the length of the phone and then the horn part would also be that rough oval shape might help?
How about a slot at the back for adding a USB charger? As for the sound mods, apparently a spiral formation is supposed to change sound quality. It might be something worth researching.
Finally a 3D printing video again! :-) Very nice, especially liked the timelapse. What sort of contraption do you use to tilt the camera down so smoothly?
Thanks for the response Jerry. I love your vids, that's why I'm a subscriber to your channel. I totally understand the need for sponsors, and I wish you and the family all the best.
I'm just glad you're doing more 3D printing. I remember when I first started watching your channel when you got your Ultimaker and, man. Those were my favorite vids. All those prints man.
Nerdgasm its chrome for me as well. improvement thoughts on the design triple the interior volume of the tube on both the stand and the inlet of phone section. frequency response is a function of the width of the tube. a smaller diameter tube will make higher frequencies more prominent. Lower frequencies basically get trapped in the tube and absorbed. Raising the density might also help but less than changing the diameter of the audio pipe
I do like all your content dude but I do have a soft soft (or a hard one, ladies....) for your 3D printing stuff. Your videos are one of the main things that convinced me to get one of my own. Don't be afraid to experiment but know your roots.
Give Vivaldi a try, stuff like multiple sites stacked in tabs and super customizable tweaks and tools. It's still in a kind of infancy, but is growing real quick!
I have 2 questions. 1. do you think that if I make a hole for the lighting connector it may loose sound power? 2. with a bigger horn should sound louder, but do you think that the music get a weird sound? (for the echo that produce the horn itself) Ps: sorry for my english, I try to do my best for make this two questions, but I have a lot to learn yet :)
well for design improvements, try to make like a resonating box before the horn to get some of that base sound out of it, dont know exactly how well that would work, but it would probably create some more roundness to the tone, nut as for just sound it works great and it has a really awesome design, and god i would love to have a 3d printer that looks super cool
demented beats,l thats the muffled part i was typing about, so im aware of thats but thats the trade off, maybe a little muffed but a more low note for a fuller sound(=
I'm really disappointed that the horn doesn't connect with a BNC style connector... I know it doesn't NEED it, but it would be cool. There was a Bose Wave Music System a while back that used a long, wide reverb chamber to increase the bass coming out of otherwise small speakers. Still, with the horn pointed towards you it should still appear to be louder.
Here in the UK there is a shop called pound land "like a dollar store" where you used to and probably still can in some stores buy these for £1. Obviously it was made of plastic as flimsy and useless as wet cardboard. And its sound very much reflected that. Anyhow keep doing what you're doing barnacules as I've never loved your channel as much as I am now. (Loving the 3d printing vids btw) 😃
DUDE! Okay, am I the only one thinking about digging into one of those B@53 radios with the wild internal horn structure... Print Change! And the fact I admit to owning a Motorola Android 7. Stereo speaker on the bottom. Yeah! A TWEAK here and there... Sound! Hmm. Time to own 3D printer it is!
Oh how many times i've tried to use my tim hortons coffee cup to amplify my Iphone's music only to look like a clumsy fool. Thank you, this is clearly the better method.
Make the pipe a bit bigger, by maybe 2-3mm, and add a resonance chamber to the horn, an egg shaped bulge in the narrow part of the horn will up the bass.
How about a video about the 7 different 3D printers you have, am very interested in 3D printing and really like to hear your point of view on each one :>
About the "Bass" thing, Couldn't someone mod it and do the "Bose" thing? Basically roller coaster the tube from the phone to cover the infill area and thus lengthen the tube to increase bass/mid? lower infill would support increased vibration, (and therefore louder) also... more infill is what killed the bass. try it at 20% and see the difference.
Good to see you popping up on my sub feed again! Are you planning to do any more Codegasms? If not, pretty please? I love your codegasm videos and would love to see more of them.

3D-printing kicks ass! I currently use mine to experiment with custom mechanical parts and to make tailored storage boxes for board game utensils. Those who say that 3D-printing is a novelty just aren't using their imagination or don't understand the technology.
i absolutely love Microsoft EDGE. It is the best browser of all time

Try and 3D print a mini trumpet or mini

WE ABSOLUTELY WANT MOAR 3D PRINTING

0.8mm nozzles with the Ultimaker 2 Olson block are amazing for this kind of stuff. I can print *huge* models with near-solid infill in an hour or two.
Yes! A 3D printing video! I need more
WOW. Your editing style and video quality gets better and better since the data loss day!
Glad you're doing 3D printing videos again!
I won't have enough money to 3D-print for a long time, but I still find this video fascinating. I love the amount of detail you go into in this video. I'm surprised on how stable that design is. I thought the phone would almost fall over when I first saw the design! Please make more!

+CrilleMega Jerry's neighbor here... this is nothing!
Wow. you must be fun at parties.
Welcome back, 3d printing videos!!!
Nice video with a lot of stuff for those who haven't seen your other vids.
We want a lot more 3d printing videos barnacles.
Do you think a 3d printer or something like an x-carve would be better for someone that would just be using it for occasional diy or just small fun projects.
It seems like 92% of people who watch this channel are either minecraft RUclipsrs or giant nerds
Minecraft RUclipsrs? I don't even play Minecraft :D Not anymore anyways.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm it doesn't matter what you do, you'll still have your subscribers
Cool video thanks. My suggestion to make the sound better is this. Make the base output port longer, then make the horn so it fits on the outside of the output port you should lower how much treble sound you get. +Barnacules Nerdgasm love your videos I'll come back when you have the next one uploaded
+Barnacules Nerdgasm also xaml based codegasam?
If you put some sort of grill over the horn it can cut the highs a bit and make it sound a little fuller at the cost of a little volume
*ashens laughing his ass off*
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT CAME TO MY MIND. MOTHER FUCKING ASHENS.
Your 3D printing vids are what got me into 3D printing. Love the 3D printing vids brother. Keep it up.
yes we do want more 3d print videos
How about a slot at the back for adding a USB charger? As for the sound mods, apparently a spiral formation is supposed to change sound quality. It might be something worth researching.
First!! My favorite browser is Internet Explorer :D

+Mysterious Potato he beat you to it because you really were using internet explorer
I absolutely loved this vid Barnacules. Really awesome to hear your thoughts on 3D printing as well
Glad you enjoyed it! #ThumbsUp
I dislike the sponsoring stuff beeing at the beginning of this video. I'm fine with the sponsoring, you have to make money in some way.
+Ishy A Yes, you're right.
Cloud 5 I corrected it.
This is exactly the kind of content I want to see from this channel. 3D printed projects if various levels of intricacy would be fun to watch.

Finally a 3D printing video again! :-) Very nice, especially liked the timelapse. What sort of contraption do you use to tilt the camera down so smoothly?
+Mirandur It's a GoPro Hero 4 recording in 4k cropped down to 1080p and scanned in post processing :D
+Barnacules Nerdgasm Of course... :-)
two bad it doesn't make it sound any better, not like screeching
It just redirects the waves it doesn't change them
Thanks for the response Jerry.

All those prints man.
anyone else notice the crazy resolution on his computer? Also, yes Barnaclues, please more 3d videos. They are awesome!!!
I don't have a 3D printer but I love watching you make stuff.
Great work man. Good job on the amount of videos lately man. Keep it up!
Nerdgasm its chrome for me as well. improvement thoughts on the design triple the interior volume of the tube on both the stand and the inlet of phone section. frequency response is a function of the width of the tube. a smaller diameter tube will make higher frequencies more prominent. Awesome video Jerry, Cant wait until I can get my own 3d printer some day, but watching your videos is the next best thing!
I really like the design! One suggestion I would have would be to add a hole for a charging cable.
I have 2 questions.
1. do you think that if I make a hole for the lighting connector it may loose sound power?
2. with a bigger horn should sound louder, but do you think that the music get a weird sound? (for the echo that produce the horn itself)
Ps: sorry for my english, I try to do my best for make this two questions, but I have a lot to learn yet :)
While 3d printing isn't exactly something I can do or afford right now, I'm certainly interested in the tech behind it! keep the videos coming :)
well for design improvements, try to make like a resonating box before the horn to get some of that base sound out of it, dont know exactly how well that would work, but it would probably create some more roundness to the tone, nut as for just sound it works great and it has a really awesome design, and god i would love to have a 3d printer that looks super cool
+Tim Lundqvist I would be curious to see if this actually worked and how bad it effects the volume
+Barnacules Nerdgasm it would probably be a little bit muffled mabye but i think it could get a more full sound
That'll probably be muddy from reverb. I don't feel like explaining because I'm not smart
demented beats,l thats the muffled part i was typing about, so im aware of thats but thats the trade off, maybe a little muffed but a more low note for a fuller sound(=
Why is it so mesmerizing to watch stuff 3d print lol. Great vid, Jerry, glad to see a new 3d print video from ya.
I'm really disappointed that the horn doesn't connect with a BNC style connector... I know it doesn't NEED it, but it would be cool.
There was a Bose Wave Music System a while back that used a long, wide reverb chamber to increase the bass coming out of otherwise small speakers. I'm not sure how that would affect the volume, though. It might work by attenuating the treble rather than enhancing the bass. Still, with the horn pointed towards you it should still appear to be louder.
Another cool bid, thanks! Did you try upping the base on the phone whilst in the cradle and see what the results were like?
Favourite browser? Vivaldi!
It still breaks some sites and has some bugs, but it looks SO good and the features are amazing!
you know you're a nerd when: you excel at chair dancing!
Omg! That thing is such fab!
I do want more 3d printing. Keep up the amazing work man!
I have been using Vivaldi lately, it's based off of chrome, but it looks nicer and has more power user features
Great video. Happy to see you back alive and kicking!
Thank you! Yeah things are improving.
Hey great video! Glad to see you're starting to produce more videos again! Do you have any plan for Codegasm?
would be so excited to watch 3d printing videos of really utilitarian things, like more tools and parts around the house or for work
Does the speaker have a breathing hole? They don't have to be super large, but can make a huge difference as well.
Oh how many times i've tried to use my tim hortons coffee cup to amplify my Iphone's music only to look like a clumsy fool. Thank you, this is clearly the better method.
I am so glad you uploaded another 3d printing video!
3D printing is why I subbed, so please more videos. Thanks.
Boost bass by creating chamber on back side with outlet in front where was filled in, might help
Why are you making me do math on my day of Jerry,.. why?
I originally subscribed because of your 3D printering videos. So keep it up man.
Have you tried printing with a lower infill? Perhaps the high mass of the part is acting as highpass filter for the audio
You asked for it.
1) My favorite browser in Windows is Opera, and I like Safari on my MacBook Pro.
2) Yes please, do more 3d printing ; )
About the "Bass" thing,
Couldn't someone mod it and do the "Bose" thing?
Basically roller coaster the tube from the phone to cover the infill area and thus lengthen the tube to increase bass/mid?
I don't personally have the cad skills, or a 3d printer to try it, So just a question/suggestion.
Good Video!
How does the ultimaker 2 cost roughly and could you recommend a good 3d printer for begginers?
have multiple horns, for 360 degrees of sound, even pointing at the base, also have another base model, with another hole, for extra support for the heavier "Multi horned phone"
the hole being another support brace.
the hole being for another support brace, dis regard the last comment, I need to get my grammar fixed
also make bases for more than the I phone, which to many peoples regards, including mine, think it sucks.
Hey, that thing would do well to have a charge port in it (solid), so it could be an alarm clock!
Thanks, Jerry! YES, I WANT TO SEE MORE 3D PRINTER VIDEOS!!!!!
Favourite browser? For a long it was IE/Edge because I was too lazy to switch to a different browser and I just wanted a simple browser. Now I'm using Chrome because I got sick of the incompatibility nowadays of IE and the buggyness of Edge.
"Officer? Yes, there's a strange man talking to himself and slowly backing away from satanic music in his backyard"
Needs one for the Motorolla Xoom
3d printers rock, lots of stuff around the house that are now repaired.
yeah!!! 3D Print video :-D, nice to see you printing again.
lower infill would support increased vibration, (and therefore louder)
also... more infill is what killed the bass.
try it at 20% and see the difference.
My top 3 favourite web browsers:
1. Apple Safari
2. Google Chorome
3. Mozilla Firefox
do you think the horn would have better sound if it was screwed instead of just being loose
Love these 3D printing vids. Keep up the good word man.
Good to see you popping up on my sub feed again! Are you planning to do any more Codegasms? If not, pretty please? I love your codegasm videos and would love to see more of them.
