  • A friend and I turned an unexpected change of plans into a film photography and life adventure. Featuring Kodak Gold 120, Kodak Ektar, a Hasselblad 500CM and Nikon F3 ... Medium format Kodak Gold 200 is a really great film and you can see how it performs at sunset over White Sands National Park in New Mexico.

    What is your favorite image from this video, and what is the most magnificent place you have photographed or want to photograph? Thank you for watching!

      My favorite image is #30. Many of the places I want to photograph seem to be out west, including Joshua Tree and Salton Sea/Bombay Beach.

      Awesome, thank you! I love Joshua Tree, though Salton Sea hasn't quite worked out yet ... it was about 112 degrees last time I was able to try. Going to aim for a slightly cooler day. :) I recommend the area, though!

    Favorites: #1 and #3. The blue dress is perfect. The wind might have been annoying, but lends a very good effect.

      Thank you! It was definitely favorable for some shots.

    My favorites of this episode are: 1 - 5 - 8 - 11 - 13 - 15 - 18 - 19 - 26 - 27 - 29 & 31. My Top 5 are: 8 - 29 - 15 - 26 & 27. I love the contrast of her dress with the environment and the film reproduces that blue in amazing form. Match with her energy and corporal expression. And you made a wonderful job capturing that, my respects.

    Great video Jamie. What a cool location for photos- you turned lemons into lemonade!
    I love how you instilled confidence in lower ISO films in less favourable lighting conditions.
    Cheers for sharing mate!

      Awesome, thank you! I definitely think people can be too scared to go into the 100 ISO zone and I don't always know why, especially when so many people are into shooting wide open.

      @@JamieMPhoto i can see the fear, hand held can be daunting at slower shutter speeds..
      I've managed to get some good shots wide open. It's always a fun technical challenge!

    Thanks for this cool video! I truly started photography through b&w film. I want to try colored film although I don't have a space to produce the film myself and it can be expensive sometimes to get it outsourced. Even with that said this video felt like an entourage to my past memories with film, oddly relaxing and definingly inspiring.

      Awesome, thank you so much! I like what Kodak is doing with Gold 120 because the price is more affordable, and I've developed a lot of film in my kitchen sink, so it's surprisingly attainable with a small amount of space. I hope you're able to explore color film more soon, and at least black and white is great in the meantime!

    I'm genuinely jealous of you two! Although I really wanted to know why you guys missed the workshop!
    But regardless, very cool!

      @JamieMPhoto  2 года назад

      Haha, it was fun! Kind of a long story about how that didn't work out, but in a nutshell, I guess you could say we didn't feel well enough to attend two long days of a workshop ... in a non-contagious sense.

    Amazing pictures and dream location! I liked Ektar shots actually, I like how it adds a bit of purple into the blues. Gold looks great as well, I have it in my fridge waiting for its moment.

      Thank you! And yes, I bet you'd do incredible work there! I hope you get to shoot in White Sands at some point. And that's a great point about the Ektar! Gold is great, but I definitely see what the other film stocks have to offer as a contrast from it. Excited to see what you do with yours!

  • @NunoAlmeidaPhotography
    @NunoAlmeidaPhotography 2 года назад +1

    Hey Jamie! That location looks amazing! I love the contrast between the blue dress and the white dunes. I also think that ektar was definitely a nice companion for your kodak gold shots!

    • @JamieMPhoto
      @JamieMPhoto  2 года назад +1

      Awesome, thank you so much! I was almost wondering if Ektar is necessary next to a 200 ISO film, and the answer is definitely "yes."

  • @HerbTheriault

    There are stellar shots in there! From a purely film stock perspective, the Gold is really nice, but my fave is the 250D for sure.

    • @JamieMPhoto
      @JamieMPhoto  2 года назад

      Thank you! I appreciate it, and I agree about Gold and 250D. I'm super excited for Cinestill 400 because if it's basically this film, it's going to be wonderful.

    Another great video! Do you ever take apart and fix or rehouse lenses?

    • @JamieMPhoto
      @JamieMPhoto  2 года назад

      Thank you! I’ve taken apart a few, and have been intrigued by rehousing, but haven’t tried it myself. Have you?

    • @roguesodyssey
      @roguesodyssey 2 года назад

      @@JamieMPhoto I haven't! I have an old 50mm 1.4 that unthreaded and I've been wondering about getting it rehoused so it doesn't have to get trashed.
