      @@kiwipinos you are 100% correct my friend.. I am in my late sixties and I was born and raised in Southern Louisiana.. the heat and humidity is much hotter in during the summer in Southern Louisiana then it is in the Philippines.. when I was younger I worked in the heat and I played in the heat and it never bothered me but in my older age the heat does bother me.. paying a couple hundred dollars a month for air conditioner is no problem for me in Louisiana or the Philippines.. yes sir I have to have my creature comforts..hehe.. big screen TV hooked to the internet and a really comfortable easy chair and a big kitchen to cook some good Louisiana food. When I was younger I raced motorcycles and had several motorcycles I would ride on the highway.. at my age I have lost lots of my agility and my ability to react to situations on the highway so I quit riding motorcycles on the highway about 15 or 20 years ago.. after I arrived I will buy a nice little car with air conditioner that gets good gas mileage.. whatever house I rent I will also install a portable bathtub and if I had that house I would put a hot tub on the balcony.. yes my friend I am a spoiled old Western American man but I ain't no Yankee.. I have nothing against Yankees because we are all brothers and sisters but people from the deep South do not like being called Yankees.. Yankees are the people that live above the Mason-Dixon line it's what we call them in America....hehe.. I wish you and everyone else good health and lots of happiness 👌👍🤗😎🍺🍻😁 and yes my friend in Southern Louisiana we eat alligator and lots of boiled crawfish that are in season now🦞🦞🦞🫕🫕🫕🐊🐊🐊🐊🍺🍻😁👍👌🤗😎

      I live in US in Tennessee on less than 1600 USD. You can live in 80% of the world on low income. The issue is what your lifestyle is. Most western people can not live on what I live on. I even purposely lived in a storage metal building with no insulation for over 1 year for 35 USD a month to save for my 2019 trip to Philippines. That is extreme but for me I can do extreme. Also both in Philippines and Thailand I stayed with someone with no rent because the place was paid for. I helped pay food at grocery, gas for trips and utilities at both places and it was not much money.

      What's wrong with wanting to retire in comfort?
      We are willing to accept the sacrifice of living with the lower costs.
      Trading lower rents for a budget that allows Aircon, hot water and other comforts is pretty understandable.
      Rents in the US can eat up 3/4 of someone's monthly income.
      Doing the math isn't hard.
      Nevertheless. There's a balance. Some sacrifices are too big.

    p10,000 = $180, not $280. If it had been $280 I would have found it too expensive because the rooms are very small, no place for a dining area inside, and I would definitely require a hot and cold shower in the main bathroom. For $180 I think it is a fair price.

    Given how cheap rents are and the cost of living, do you know why hotels are so expensive in the Philippines? Compared to other neighbouring countries (Malaysia, Thailand, etc), hotels there are terrible value.

    • @filipinalifewithmia5208
      @filipinalifewithmia5208  Год назад

      There might be several reasons for the Philippines' high hotel charges. High demand for tourists, restricted competition among hotels in some places, and the high cost of hotel operations and maintenance are all possible reasons. Furthermore, certain hotels may target higher-end guests and provide luxury services, which can push up pricing.
