From the episode "Up in the Air", the 25th episode of Season 6 which originally aired on May 4, 1982 on ABC.
This is from a rerun on Antenna TV.
This has to be the greatest comedic solo performance in sitcom history. Period.
Gota be!
Absolute genius. I've never seen anything better than this.
100%!!!!!
I agree. I will never forgot when I first saw this on the original air date, It was with my mom and both of us were dying of laughter especially when he popped up from the bar with the shaker. So glad you posted this, TV Land and other stations always edit this down.

No matter how many times I watch this episode...I just LAUGH till I cry!!! John Ritter can never be replicated!
Ever! One of the funniest things I ever watched. 🤣🤣🤣
DEFINITELY his MOST funniest scene on the show, can't stop laughing every time I see it!! Awesome!
Best one ever! Always makes me smile and sad that he is gone 😢
It was too funny!!!!
Me too! Best episode!
The transition from the yawn into the hiss is still to this day one of the most brilliant comedic bits I've ever seen.
Man! That shit funny!!
Absolutely.
0:49 Is where I completely lost it and cried uncontrollably until Jack falls over
LOL. Are you SERIOUS? LOL. BRILLIANT? Good grief.
The most brilliant piece of physical comedy ever. Brilliant choreography, timing and delivery, not to mention laugh out loud till you drop hilarious. John Ritter, an irreplaceable talent. 😂❤
John Ritter’s brilliance as an actor, both comedic and dramatic, was criminally under appreciated. He was one of a kind.
I will never forget this episode. In April 1982 this 13 year old laughed his ass off watching this classic show. John Ritter was awesome at physical comedy. This is my favorite episode of the whole run. RIP John.
I literally laughed until I cried. It was one of the funniest scenes I have ever watched on any sitcom. Ritter was amazing.
I was 8 and me and my mom and grandma were in stitches. I remember it like it was yesterday.😌
We are same age 😊...and yes he was brilliant at physical comedy...i still watch reruns of 3's company and laugh just as hard as i always have
"I can't. I've got the music in me- Strut with me Mama!" Love that line, awesome episode!!! Recorded this on my old VCR, always funny!
I love how the lady struts with him so happily!
Same here, that was such a hilarious episode and every time I hear the word strut, I automatically think of John Ritter/Jack Tripper telling that older woman at the party to “Strut with me Mama!!” LoL 😂 😂
That’s one of the funniest moments in all of TV comedy.
I always laugh when I see it.
@@JayCaesarI know Right!!!
mines is Im gettin downnnnnnn lol have me laughing so hard he was a genuis on this episode showed who the ace in threes company Number 1 episode for me and always will be
@@sassyd8738 Yes!! He was on fire and I love every second of it!
This one has lived rent free in my head since I was 8 years old.
Same 😂
Same x2! ❤😂
Yes! And I'm not unhappy about it 😂
John Ritter was with out a doubt the funniest physical comedy actor ever!
Yup. John, Michael Richards, and Jaleel White were a league of their own!
Don't forget Dick Van Dyke!@@JLvatron
I'm 52 and grew up with this show. ALWAYS return to this episode for a guaranteed laugh and pick me up!
I love when he kissed the lamp and it turned on. Though he wasn’t expecting it, he carried on without missing a beat! I cannot believe he’s been gone 20 years
@Justyna_N *_Now,_* whenever they rerun this episode on TV (the *IFC* cable-TV channel airs all the reruns of Three's Company, btw), they _always_ cut Jack's dance scene short at the moment he kisses the lamp. Thank goodness the _full_ dance scene is here on RUclips, because seeing just the first _half_ of it (on TV) is a bummer. 😞 The entire dance is hilarious, but the _funniest_ parts of the dance is the part they don't even show when it's aired on TV.
@@morganjanelle4282I wonder why they shorten such an iconic scene !
@@suefalk2682 I've always wondered the same thing !! ✔🌷
I always noticed that. You could see him laugh when the light came on!
@@morganjanelle4282 I went on RUclips just to find this clip! I've been watching it on Pluto, and I knew the dance was longer. One of my favorite episodes of TC!
Literally the greatest moment in the history of television!!! 😂
John Ritter thank you for the making everyone laugh during the Three Company’s show. GOAT of comedy…
I agree with you and so would many others.
I was a kid when this show was airing. I never forgot this scene. Brilliant physical comedian. RIP John Ritter. Gone way too soon.
Here for it in 2024, having watched it literally the first time it ever aired. The BEST, still!! Thanks John! 🤣💫🙏💜
This man was one of a kind. Just thinking about this makes me laugh so hard, my ribs hurt. Brilliant physical comedy.
True!!!
John Ritter was THE BEST. An average guy with so much charisma and talent. love him. bless is soul.
the first time i saw this, i laughed so hard i fell out of my chair. still makes me howl. love you, John. RIP 🌹
Cried laughing and almost wet myself lol! RIP for real, John, A true legend.
It was a very funny scene!!!!!
What most people don’t know is DON CRIGHTON who choreographed the CAROL BURNETT SHOW , choreographed this scene . It was brilliant. John Ritter was brilliant. Always.
That's cool, another connection with the Carol Burnett Show. We already knew Dave Powers directed both shows too.
Seriously? This was planned? I thought the director simply just told John to go nuts.
@shadowspectrumswordtailstr5468
I think he improvized It.
Is that Right?
That's what I thought. It looked so spontaneous. Not rehearsed at all.@@SpectrumSwordtails
I forget what an amazing actor John Ritter was! It was sad we lost him at a young age.
True!!!
I remember watching this as a kid, when it first aired with my nonni who barely spoke English, and she laughed her little old Sicilian butt off along with us. When he came up from behind the bar with the plant on his head, that was the peak of the laughs.
This is my favorite episode. Jack looks like Fred Astaire dancing. 😂 hilarious love it. I needed a good 😂 laugh. RIP MR.RITTER. ♥
@gloria-du3op It's my favorite episode, _too._ 💗 When I pulled up this episode "Up In The Air" on the IMDb site, it says that both John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt have said that, out of all the Three's Company episodes, it was their favorite. ☺💗🌷
My favorite Three's Company scene of all time. Dazzling and funny.
What a crazy episode this was. John was very talented.
One of my top 5
One of top 10
Agreed!!!
Very, a Classic.
One of the best comic actors to ever exist, hands down one of my favorites, if not my favorite. I loved Three´s Company and still do, can watch reruns repeatedly due to Jack, followed by Janet. May you continue to rest in peace Mr Ritter, you were one of a kind, pure comedy genius.
Definitely one of the best episodes of Three's Company. John's acting is just phenomenal here❤
whooOOO???
This is John Ritter at his best on TV! This man could sing & dance. He said his inspiration was Dick van Dyke. R.I.P ✝️
Bill Murray, John Candy, and John Ritter as the new Three Stooges. Comedy gold there possibly.
My favorite comedian and show. God he was incredibly talented. Lucy said he was the best. And thats a huge compliment
R.I.P. John Ritter. One of those special lights.
"Strut with me mama." 😂😂
Jack was off the chain in this episode!🤣🤣🤣
True!!!
Jack was so funny. Such incredible talent. Loved him ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️✝️
First time I saw this episode I died laughing this is my favorite of all. Jack is too much.
no matter how many times i watched this show,,, which was a ton,,, and no matter how many times i seen this episode,,, i will forever crack up,,, laugh my ass off every single damn time,,,RIP MT RITTER
This episode has to be my favorite of all 8 season’s. I have them all. This was episode 25 of season 6. Jack did a great performance!
John Ritter was such a great comedian, probably The greatest physical comedian there was. Very talented, I adored him. Cried when he died at a very young age. Rest in peace John Ritter and thanks for the laughs!
I remember this when it was new. Still makes me laugh to this day. There’ll never be another John Ritter💔
@marklechman2225 I was only 10 the first time I saw this episode & I laughed so hard, I cried. 41 years later & it _still_ has the same effect on me.
I LOVE THIS. EVERYTIME I WATCH THIS THERE IS A SMILE ON MY FACE AND LAUGHTER IN MY HEART. I SEND IT TO ALL MY FRIENDS TO CHEER THEM UP ON BLUE DAYS. I DARE ANYONE NOT TO SMILE OR LAUGH WATCHING THIS. I THANK GOD JOHN RITTER PASSED OUR WAY. HIS LIFE WAS BRIEF BUT HIS GIFT TO MAKE US LAUGH IS EVERLASTING. FOREVER LOVED, FOREVER REMEMBERED.
I saw it the first time it came out and still love it! Thanks for the laughs John
Hope you enjoyed it!
This one episode shows what a brilliant physical comedian John Ritter was -
True!!!!
Oh man this was my favorite episode I really miss seeing Three's Company .
This is one of my favorite three's company with Jack tripper! RIP John Ritter!
the whole scene is funny but when he first steps out onto the patio and starts dancing 🤣😂🤣
@glitterdrip19 "I'm gettin' downnnnnnnnn!!" and "Strut with me, mama !!" 😂🤣😂
When he comes up from behind the bar with the plant on his head ROTFLMAO
Will always be my favorite moment from the series cause that's how creative & hilarious John Ritter was
I know Right!!!
I am grateful to have lived in the Golden age of comedy of the 80s John Ritter had to be one of the greatest comedians to grace us in our lives. He will live with the Charlie chaplins buster keatons and luciell balls of the world
This right here, is a small bit of the raw, one of a kind talent John Ritter had. It also shows elements of his idols, Dick Van Dyke, and Don Knotts. Continue to RIP good sir
I think there was a touch of Buster Keaton as well. Whom John was often compared to.
@@cityhawkYes!
Crying every time I watch this laughing like no one's business
BRILLIANT!! Simply BRILLIANT!!
I'm glad you loved it!
John Ritter’s physical comedic ability was amazing
This was hilarious very well choreographed . It looks like it would take forever to get it perfect. The fact that John Ritter makes it look so spontaneous is a true testament to his on-stage brilliance.
The best! I remember watching this as a kid around 7 and laughing so hard and banging my head on my hard loveseat from laughing and tearing so hard....😂 i loved it. And im a comedy snub now!
He was adorable, a very talented guy, and I'm still sad about his passing. Why is it always the sweethearts. God rest his soul.
Plant on his head and shaking the shakers lol😂😂😂😂
I watched this over & over 😂😂😂
I know Right, it was a very funny scene!!!!
What a legend 😂 still funny as hell 🎉
This made me laugh so hard as a kid I think I hurt myself. I think I was 9 when this aired.
John was for sure the Prat Fall Master. Nailed it.
He got so zooted here 😂
This one never gets old
One of the best ever! It’s almost like he knew his days were numbered and he let it all out for the world to see. Pure gold! Such a talented wonderful man! I miss him
was probably 20 years before he passed,
John Ritter is a genius for this skit pure genius Just enjoyed it and it is the number 1 favorite on 3's Company Period lol
If this got on tik tok it would blow up! Incredible performance
Funniest scene of the entire series. John Ritter was hilarious. How did he not get an Emmy for that scene?
That plant on his head!!!! LOL
It's criminal to know that in syndication, they cut out the second part of his dance.
Strut with me mama 🤣 😂😂
This is the funniest 5 minutes in television history. Comedic genius
I loved growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I saw, in my opinion, 2 of the 3 actors who put an entire show on their back and carried it to success: John Ritter and Michael J. Fox. And the 3rd, before my time, the great Lucille Ball.
I remember watching this new. When he started to shake the shaker and the plant in his head. I busted out laughing
This is my favorite episode it make me cry & laugh
Jack was the funniest actor of this episode and he said the rocket as blasted off
best scene in the history of television...EVER
I remember watching Three's Company decades ago with my Grandma (who didn't speak a word of English), and she would laugh so hard at John Ritter's physical comedy. He was simply the best❤
Thanks for posting! I just watched this episode on TV and the cut half of this part. I thought I was going crazy because I remembered it differently and I was right.
Same here. I understand editing for more commercial time. But they cut out the most ICONIC scene of any Three's Company episode.
Why would they cut the best part of the episode? That’s insane.
Pure comedy gold! ⭐️ 🌟 💛
Indeed.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This was a priceless performance. I remember this episode very well. John Ritter was one of the best comedic actors of all time.
John Ritter is a comedic legend
In tears laughing in 2024!
Funniest scene in sitcom HISTORY!
This was my grandmother's favorite show of all time. Her English fluency was about 50%, but physical comedy is an international language. I'll always miss her high-pitched laughter at Jack's pratfalls, it actually made watching the show even funnier!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of my fav episodes Soo funny and and loved the blue beautiful dress Janet wore it was timeless
THIS. GUY. HAS. THE. BEST. PHYSICAL. COMEDY. I. HAVE. EVER. SEEN.
John is so Silly he knocked this scene out of the ball park!⚾
Hey it's Greg Brady !!😲
physical comedy will always get me,,, Three's Company....Carol Burnett, I love Lucy,, its awesome
Comedic genius. No one better
Great show one of my favs.thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
For context they had to get to the party by plane. Jack was scared of flying, so he took medication to deal with the anxiety then mixed it with the alcohol further increasing the effects.
The plant on his head just ended it all! Waaaaay to much. Too much pain from laughing! Aching! Genius!
The first time I saw this i liked to loss my mind. He’s in my top 10!
The look on Janet’s face at 4:44 😮😅😂
There was an episode of Family Guy where Peter watched Three’s Company and apparently “pooped his pants” laughing so hard. This may have been the episode he was watching. 😂
Three's Company helped me through a rough childhood. Anyone else have the same experience?
Is that Greg Brady walking up to Janet? I did not know that Barry Williams was in this episode.
Yes it is! I just recently made that connection.
This show is mind blowing
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for posting this. For some reason, Pluto TV's version of this episodes cuts this scene out right when Jack is about to dance with the lamp. 🤷♂🤷♂
It's criminal that half of this scene gets cut out in syndication runs. Many people don;t know that this scene is what won John Ritter the emmy that year.
Really? Why?
Due to time and to squeeze in more commercials.
@@marcusmontgomerys2ndlogotv226 I understand. I remember when I visited New York and watched some American television. It was insane how much commercial there was all the time. Almost as much commercial as the real TV show. 🤪
Television now airs more commercials, so old shows have to be cut to fit in the extra ads.
This is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in my life. I still miss John Ritter he was the best
Wow why is this the first time I seen this . Simply amazing !
Anytime I think of Three's Company this scene always comes to mind. I believe it's the funniest scene for the whole series, and there are some other great ones as well. This one is pure comedic genius by John Ritter. The guy was just a natural at being funny. Thanks for making us laugh John.
