ABOUT LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN
Running from 1993-2009, Late Night with Conan O’Brien is one of the most beloved late night shows in television history. Known for its absurdist humor, hilarious celebrity interviews and featuring the best stand-up comedians and musical acts of the ‘90s and early 2000s. Hosted by Conan O’Brien alongside sidekick Andy Richter and house band Max Weinberg and the Max Weinberg 7, Late Night with Conan O’Brien featured unforgettable segments like “If They Mated”, “In the Year 2000”, “Desk Drive”, and made a breakout star of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
He was a true gem. Gone too soon
I learned to do physical comedy when I was kid, by watching John Ritter.
RIP John Ritter (September 17, 1948 - September 11, 2003), aged 54
You will be remembered as a legend.
Truth. A nice guy and was a hard working actor.
Personally, I didn't even find hi particularly funny
I watched Three's Company in three separate phases. Once when they originally aired when I was young, once in re-runs where I sort of thought "These are all kind of juvenile and same-y..." and then a third time where I just appreciated what a master of physical comedy John Ritter was.
I watched the show under similar circumstances. Loved it as a young person, but when I grew up, I saw just how unsophisticated the show was. It's like watching community theater. But like you said, you have to appreciate his physical talents.
Did he die?
@@cartergomez5390 Yes. September 2003.
Same here.
Wow, funny, I was thinking the same thing recently. John always gets credited for his physical humor, but he was more than that. His personality and comedic timing verbally also were assets of him. It also didn't hurt that he was the genuine "Nice Guy" of Hollywood....
With Suzanne's passing, I'm on a Three's Company binge on RUclips. So many great memories. I can't believe Jack and Chrissy are gone.
Sadly we are down to only one original Three's Company cast member and it's Janet. May they all RIP.
On youtube?? What channel? It has full episodes for free? I found all the seasons on Freevee
I watch on Pluto.😊
@@louieflash7190you mean Joyce Dewitt?
@@Heybabetv Yes, she played Janet on the show.
I've probably seen every episode and many of them multiple times. Never get tired of it - still watching re-runs in 2023.
Always been my favorite show, never will there be a show more dear to my heart… I gotta say though, if you’ve never watched “Three’s A Crowd”, you’ve just got to. I hate that it was just John from the original cast, but it is still absolutely wonderful. If you have Tubi, or Hulu you can watch on those platforms. Only 1 season, just 22 episodes, but it was great as well.
where do you watch all the episodes😊
@@elpiratadeflorida The LOGO network and Antenna TV on cable.
I bought the entire series on a DVD set. That means I can watch them anytime I want, without being at the mercy of the network.
@@MuddymudskipperThree’s A Crowd can also be found on Peacock
I'm a 90s kid, and I grew up watching Three's Company reruns on Nick at Nite. John Ritter was awesome. Gone way too soon.
I used to watch nick at nite a lot when younger as well.
This year it will be 20 years since John passed. 9/11/03
😢
Wow! We all miss him!
Amazing that it's been 2 DECADES!
INCREDIBLE!!!!! JOHN RITTER will forever be a legend.
God bless him, his wife Amy Yasbeck and his son Jason Ritter ❤
Threes Company is my favorite show. I watch every night on Pluto.
same❤❤❤
I always put it on while cooking dinner. 😊
Me too
Dude to this day whenever I see John Ritter in a film or on TV it brings a smile to my face...he was such a genuinely happy and positive guy who really cared for people and loved his fans. RIP John Ritter.
For a lot of us Gen Xers and older Millennials, this show is a time capsule of the late 1970s/early 1980s, when our parents were young adults in their 20s or early 30s and still being called "the kids".
76er here. I miss those days. My parents had one of those black and white TV/Radio combos. What was the screen; about 6 inches and a long antennae? lol. We sat at the kitchen table watching Three's Company and I can remember my young parents laughing at John RItter's antics.
@@thunkjunk Yeah 1975 here. Growing up I never understood why the Ropers and Mr. Furley called Jack, Janet and Chrissy "kids", because they looked like grown adults to me. Now that I'm late 40s and getting closer and closer to Mr. Ropers age, I get why people start calling a 22 or 25 year old, or even a 30 year old "kids" when you get to a certain age. When you're a little kid and you see older adults call younger adults that, it's kinda confusing. Until you turn into Mr. Roper/Mr. Furley.
@@John-ct9zs I'm 48 and my parents still call me and my wife the kids.
We still miss you and rest in peace, John!
John was a master of physical comedy and a tremendous human being.
I can watch Threes Company and sun of the old shows all day ❤️ John Ritter and Robin Williams two of my favorites they are Truly Missed 🙏🏾
Have you seen the standup/improv with Robin williams and John Ritter? Pretty funny.
A master of physical comedy . Enjoyed his work tremendously.
John Ritter was amazing as Jack Tripper in Three's Company, but my favorite was his performance in Sling Blade. What a great talent gone too soon.
If you haven’t seen em, Hero at Large, Skin Deep, and Real Men are three very good movies with John.
And don’t forget 8 Simple Rules.
Ditto ^^ Skin Deep, a Blake Edwards gem. And never forget Problem Child! 😂
He was good in sling blade but I loved him in bad santa.
Small role but yes, very good and important to remember him as more than just funny. John could act serious as well.
He always seemed like such a nice guy, as well as a great comedian and actor. Was so shocked when he passed. The great ones leave way too soon.
Yeah. I've always heard he was a nice guy in real life.
He was the nicest, most genuine person in real life
Jack Tripper/Harry Hooperman/John Hartman/Paul Hennessy, and my personal favourite, Clifford The Big Red Dog. 20 Years later since he’s passed, and yet he’s still an incredible talent. Thanks for the fun and laughs, Mr. Ritter.
I wish I knew he was Clifford when I was a kid.
And Ben Healy from problem child
You forgot Bob Chipeska
I’ll always remember John Ritter as the voice of Clifford the Big Red Dog.
I guess I'm rare because I can watch Threes company now & laugh like I'm watching for the first time even though I've seen every episode 100 times🤣🤣🤣...For that show John Ritter is one of my favorite actors of all time he did die waay to soon...
Same here. Have watched it innumerable times and still laugh equally every time. Ritter is my favorite comedic actor... nobody, IMO, even comes close.
Same here-I still laugh my head off every time I watch it. There’s a few actors/shows that can pull that off. 3’s company was one of those. I have the 3’s company dvd set-one of the best shows ever. In fact I’m watching it right now as we speak on channel Logo.
Same here 😊😊
Same. Watching it nowadays always brings back that nostalgic feel. A lot of times, my mind will start to wander to the 80’s, in general, which was the greatest decade of my life, hands down
Non stop laughter and eye candy. I was so in love with Terri 😍
I would have loved to have met John ritter. I was always drawn to him as a kid. I saw kindness in his eyes.
He seemed like an incredible person
JR, he was a sweet human, a nice man. 😊Cheerful, always made people laugh, seems he was born for it. A comedic talent, a legend, a star. 👏👏
This guy was underrated and one of the funniest performers that ever graced tv. His films were hilarious too.
Great interview from the late 90s with john ! May he rest in peace! He is a legend!👍🙏
Such a legend! One of the all time great actors, and from all accounts one of the sweetest people to work in the business. The way he hammed it up straight into camera for the Ohlmeyer joke killed me! What a pro. One of the best to ever do it! :)
As I'm writing this I'm watching an episode on Pluto TV...and John Ritter was an amazing talent and he was taken away from us way to soon ..me miss you John thank you for the laughs you gave us then and are still giving us now.
John Ritter really was a great physical actor, on par with Jim Carrey and Charlie Chaplin!
Robin Williams, also. Agree he had that skill of facial expression body movements tone change, so grateful for such displays of humanity, people who make us laugh and smile. 😊
Chevy Chase
Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Lucille Ball, Vivian Vance. 😊
Moe larry curly for us old guys.
Actually, John Ritter was once compared to Buster Keaton. I can see that.
A real legend 🙌 👏 🙏 ❤️ 💙
Rip john Ritter 🙏 😢 💔 😪
Who didn't love John Ritter?
this crowd, apparently.
@@Zack29810 Yeah, I noticed that too...strange, don't know why the lack of reaction....?
Love john. Conan is the best host to allow a guest to shine!
I wish he was still around. RIP John Ritter.
"I pooed a little." - John Ritter in "Scrubs"
Sheesh, tough crowd.
Too be fair, Ritter was trying WAY too hard. We all know that the best interviews with Conan are when the guest isn't doing a bit or reciting jokes they thought would be funny.
Yeah good call. I have to be honest, I love John Ritter but didn’t find him very funny in this interview.
He left us way too soon! He would always make me laugh on threes company. I loved his style of comedy.
We will always love you John!!! You are one of my favorites!!
Thanks for this interview! If you have more, please post it! It's so rare to find anything from him... Has been nearly 20 years that he's gone 😢
I always watched this show growing up in Italy 😂😊
The first season of Three's Company is honestly brilliant, it gets a bit weird in later seasons hahah
That’s largely because the episodes were largely remakes of episodes from the British series it was adapted from, Man About The House.
He will always be a comedy legend in my eyes. Thanks for the laughter, John.
He was awesome. Loved him immensely. 😢
Still remember doing some live theatre in the 90s. I had moved to a new city where I knew nobody, went out for a part, and ended up with the role. It was a fairly tight company of performers and I had a bit of a tough time getting in with them, being a brash, overconfident younger (22 yrs old) member. Then one day at rehearsal and being comfortable with my lines I started adding some physical comedy to my bits, before we had started doing the fine tuning of the blocking. When we all sat down after and the director asked me how I wanted to play the part physically I said "I'm picturing in my head how John Ritter would play this". All the older theatre people loved me from that moment onward for my "inspired" choice.
Thanks John for what you brought to acting.
I miss him so much.. Everyday I watch older episodes of Threes Company, i was literally watching that tonight at 7:00 and 7:30 pm religiously
Audra Lindley was my favorite as well.
John Ritter and John candy were my two favourite comedians; both gone too soon. They were comidic geniuses
I miss John Ritter. One of those people that lights up a room. RIP John Ritter.
I loved John Ritter, Loved him on the Waltons and of course Three's Company. Also, i loved that he hosted the Los Angels portion of the United Cerebral Palsy Telethons (which his brother Tom was born with, as was I.
He was so handsome, likeable, funny, and an excellent actor! I love him and miss him.
I loved Three's Company!
I know sons look like their fathers somewhat. But John Ritter's son whose a great actor, looks SO MUCH like John!
Yes! And he seems like a great guy too. I also love how he is one of the main voices on Gravity Falls, one of my son's (and mine too) favorite animated shows. Followed in his dad's voice over footsteps as well.
even though I’ve only seen it in reruns, Threes Company is my favorite show EVER
Three's Company aired from my puberty thru HS graduation. You can bet I have fond memories of that show!
I miss John Ritter, he was the best! Such an amazing person! ❤️
John and his terrific personality are sorely missed!
We miss you, John. (2023) 🎭
He’s a legend, still keeps me amused. 3c never gets old.
Awwww John Ritter 😢🙏🏾🕊🌖
Doesn’t matter what this amazing man does it’s a heart condition that takes him out! So sad I will forever miss this man so funny so intelligent just the best at what he did!
wife lost the lawsuit against the hospital
The video quality of this is fantastic.
Rest well John, miss you so much and thanks for all the laughs.
Sadly, he died so young. Continue to RIP John Ritter 🙏
RIP John Ritter. You were an extremely talented man.
Three’s Company is one of my favorites
SO quick-witted that others can't keep up! And so charming, handsome... oh my goodness he really was a treasure.
Are used to watch happy days, Laverne and Shirley, and threes company every week. Those were my favorite shows.
John Ritter, such a great guy, to me he was one of those Actors that was good in everything he did, Sling Blade and Bad Santa come to mind...very miss seeing him 😢
The best episode of all in Three's Company had only John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt in "Up In The Air" it was amazing.
I love that episode! Barry Williams is on that one. 😊
Seeing this in 2023 and I HAVE THAT TIE HE’S WEARING! We’ve got the same taste!
Life imitating art because there's an episode where Jack is trying to impress a girl who likes to ski.
I was expecting either John or Conan to mention it but probably neither even remembered it.
That was the first thing I thought of when he started telling his story about skiing.😂
It’s funny he compared Three’s Company to Chinese food…my two all-time favorite things😊 John Ritter is one actor I wish could’ve been immortal!
This was so awkward. Strange audience. I would have given John a standing ovation and laughed loudly at his jokes. Such a sweet man.
They weren't even laughing at Conan's joke. Extremely unenthusiastic crowd.
I can imagine what it would be like had he still been around today. Audiences would go wild for him.
@@georgeriley4818 I think it's because the audience skewed young, and John was making obscure references to old TV shows and actors that none of these kids had heard of. And Conan's jokes weren't that funny, he was just trying to save the interview
Right?! I was looking for this comment!
I think it’s because John Ritter talked over Conan very fast and non stop - it felt like he wanted to get all this content about himself in - so you really didn’t have pause to absorb the joke to laugh.
I remember sitting at the kitchen table as a kid watching Three's Company on one of those black and white TV/Radios that had an antennae and a screen size of about 6 inches. Damn I miss the 80's.
Those were great times the 80s.
Lucille Ball and John Ritter were my favorites. When they died, it was devastating. They were there when life wasn’t that great
John Ritter was such a nice guy. R.I.P.
Thanks for sharing this. Life is so fragile and so precious. Thanks John for the laughter and teaching me English in my teenage years.
The one and only iconic mr, john Ritter, remember watching threes company when I was a kid ,and I still watch it till this day ,it never gets old , sad he passed away ...
Fun fact: John was the voice of Clifford the big red dog!❤️❤️❤️❤️
jesus. why is the crowd so dead? poor John.
John Ritter was classy humble funny and talented. RIP
Three's Company is still a very funny show. I think the writing got better as it entered the 1980s, and it actually was a very smart and clever show. The producer of the last couple years of the show, David Mirkin, went on to produce some of the best years of The Simpsons.
'Very smart' is stretching the truth just a little. An episode of Friends summed up The Three's Company so succinctly. "Oh, this is the one where there's been a misunderstanding".
@@4seeableTV Some very cleverly written misunderstandings, that is.
@@jedijones Even in this appearance, John is only half-heartedly standing up for Three's Company. He knew it wasn't great. But it helped springboard him into other projects that actually hold up today, where TC does not.
@@4seeableTV Three’s Company > Friends
@@octavius8562 That sounds about right. John was what held it together, besides a weak supporting cast.
John Ritter was a gift ❤
I was watching Three's Company recently and, in one great scene, it hit me that Joyce was the only one still alive and that hit hard. It was such a great show and I still love it!
There's a three's company channel on Pluto TV.
I loved Three’s Company as a kid. The episode he’s referring to was one of the funniest things I ever saw up to that point . Just classic.
John seemed like such a good guy
It’s 2023 and I’m still shocked that John Ritter died 20 years ago!!!! He was a great actor.
Top 3 favorite show from the 70s
What a gifted physical comedic actor.
Rest peacefully John Ritter, we all love and miss you every day!!
I don't miss him everyday
Incredible performance in Sling Blade
I really miss this guy , he was so talented and pure hearted ❤
Loved John Ritter. He was awesome! 3s company was hilarious every episode. RIP.
R.I.P.: John Ritter 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥
You left us plenty of unforgettable memories during the show. We will miss you always while we will be forever in tears thinking about you.
Loved John Ritter, loved Three's Company. He left this world far too soon. RIP John
Love threes company!!!
I'll say this.... As a child of the 1970's and teenager of the 1980's I LOVED THREE'S COMPANY NO MATTER WHAT THE TELEVISION EXEC'S SAID!!! The show is still being seen to this day and all the Executives are in their graves. Long Live Three's Company!
Legend.
Ritter was a freakin legend and just natural comedian / physical comedian. Skin Deep is still a champ of a film.
John Ritter as Jack Tripper probably my most favorite character since I was a kid. RIP John
He was the man bar none!!!!!!!!
Legend!
I miss him very much. Loved him in the movie SKIN DEEP (1988)
He was taken way too early. Three's Company was a huge part of my childhood and to hell with the naysayers. It's an iconic show. RIP John.
He was so funny and handsome .❤
