I agree. Should be 10-15 % not seeing the ocean below is obstruction. The only time I saw a shark at sea was with the ability to look straight down below.
What about the Aqua class cabins on the upper decks - do they have the overhang like they do on the Solstice class isn't this the same sort of issue (you can't see the sea, Aqua class can't see the sky)
Good to see you guys. Have fun on your cruise. We booked on the Xcel for 2026, and we got the sunset veranda because we have heard so many complaints and the infinite veranda.
I agree, that I would consider this as obstructed view. I would expect to see water down from my balcony and in harbour down on the pier. We have only been on 1 cruise with Edge and we selected room on the opposite side of the "magic carpet"
I have sailed Celebrity almost exclusively but of late, unfortunately I am finding they are once again discriminating against solo cruisers. More than once I have looked to book a cruise with them only to find that trying to book for one passenger shows no cabins available, but if I change it to two, all cabins are available. When I called them, they offered to put me on a list and if more cabins were released to solo guests, they would call me with a quote. A quote? I can only guess what that would be like. Sounds very similar to the response you got regarding the obstructed view. I agree it is obstructed, and they should be more transparent in regard to the view.
We had a balcony that was not listed as obstructed, twice, on NCL. They were over the Food Republic restaurant. I really didn't mind it, but for our Alaskan cruise in the Biss in May, I told Rodrigo, the NCL representative, about that and he gave us a totally unobstructed balcony. So looking forward to this cruise celebrating our 45 anniversary on May 17!
Nearly the same thing happened to us last spring on the Beyond! Our 0% obstruction IV cabin had a bump-out wall jutting out immediately to the right of the window, for about 5-6 feet. We literally had no view to the right at all! In the months leading up to our cruise, I was in touch with our TA, she was in touch with Celebrity and with the ship itself, and no one would do anything about it. The ship was sold out, so there was no moving cabins either. I would've been happy with some on board credit, but nope wasn't happening. I will say, though, that on embarkation day, the pluses of the cabin outweighed the minuses, and I quickly let it go. Still, I think Celebrity needs to review their position on this.
It is obstructed below, to the right, nah not so much. Definitely obstructed, maybe even more than 15%. Should be a discount on this cabin. This might be worse than the balconies with that slide that goes past on some ships.
I would think this is somewhat obstructed view and you should have been notified that you don't have a full water view. They should turn the "platform" you see out your window into an accessible patio for everyone in those cabins to enjoy. There's my suggestion...(haha)
I feel like the price is immaterial in this question. As a customer, I would like to know if there is anything that would prevent me from being able to have full range of view. There is a mild obstruction, and I agree that 10 to 15% is fair. Like others have stated, when you get a balcony, you expect to be able to look down to the water, which is part of the benefit of a balcony. Like you, I would absolutely book this cabin, especially because of the price, but I still want to know that there is a little bit of an obstruction.
I agree, that is an obstructed view. Celebrity, in my experience, have really misled cruisers in so many ways since lockdown. I assume it is to maximise profit.
I did a bid with Princess for a partially obstructive view, I won the bid, and when I opened my door, my jaw dropped... It was fully obstructed in my opinion..... NEVER AGAIN!
I recently sailed on the Ascent to the Caribbean. Room #6208. I would agree being right next to the magic carpet pillars and not being able to look out the left due to this obstruction it should be considered as obstructed. We did go to guest services to express the disappointment of having an obstructed view, as you mentioned they told me the same..... as long as you're a horse with blinders on, you can see straight ahead with no obstruction.
I would consider this “disappointing” and it is obstructed in my opinion, however I have had other balconies on other cruise lines that also had something “under” and didn’t let me know. Now, I fully research my cabins to find out if there will be any “surprises” and if I will be ok with it.
Hey guys. Nice seeing you both. Sometimes it’s either or. Oh wow. That is partial obstruction. I’ve been in rooms with less obstruction than that and it was labeled as obstruction. To me, no obstruction is nothing but water when you looked over. We were on the Edge on the 6th deck and our room was listed as partial obstruction and it was less obstruction than that 🤷🏻♀️. And got an obstruction discount. Don’t recall the percentage of obstruction tho.
Hello Jared and Jordan, I agree that this is a partial obstructive view. If I book a balcony cabin it is to have a good view of the ocean. This not the case, looks like a stage .
This is definitely obstructive. They are just slicing and dicing when it comes to the wording. I would be royally pissed if I walked into that cabin and this was the view.
I think they can come up with a creative term that means 10% obstructed. It’s not fully obstructed or terribly disturbing, but something is there. I have done the deck 6 infinite veranda and I would have been unhappy if I had not been informed about the lifeboat view. Every time I see it, I remind myself of the price and I feel better. It’s all about disclosure.
It looks like a nice room but I agree with you that they should say it is partially obstructed. Also, I don't buy their reasoning, I can assure you that anyone that has had a balcony isn't just looking straight ahead, they're looking up, down and to the side also so all of that should be taken into consideration.
The reality is, It is a partially obstructed view. I'm a little nervous because we are book on deck six on our cruise with your group in May. While it is a beautiful cabin I would be a little disappointed with the partial obstruction.
It’s really not an obstructed view. I agree with Celebrity on this issue. Since your cabin will overheat when you lower the window, I doubt you will use the verandah to hang over the railing.
Looking down to the ripples made against the ship by the waves is one satisfying view. You are not able to see this from this type of room. Certainly a partial obstructed experience.
Obstructed….we stayed on Beyond in 6211 and there was an area below us that prevented us from looking directly down but we still had a much better view than your cabin.
Definitly should be considered. This happened to me on the Anthem. The view was partially obstructed. My travel agent got in touch during the cruise after we told him and they gave us a discount!
We never choose the deck right above lifeboats for that reason either. You can see the tops. I only want to see water. That room is obstructed, no two ways about it. If you can't only see water, then it is obstructed.
That's absolutely partially obstructed. If I can't look down at the water, it's obstructed. I can tell you most of the time I see sea life on an Alaskan cruise, it's looking directly down!! I'd be upset! I love the Retreat - nothing better for the price point!
@ We love it! We're trying the Haven on NCL on June, but only because we're taking our 11 year old son and he didn't have a good time when we were on Celebrity last year. He's shy and their kids club was pretty pathetic. Hopefully we're not disappointed in the Haven.
Thats a bigger obstruction than a life boat. I would rather have a lifeboat under my room say on deck 6 in the back where the lifeboats are. Definitely 10-15%
That is definitely considered obstructed I would complain and use the example of it's like the difference between watching a movie in widescreen or in full screen. Instead of black bar on the top and the bottom you have a gigantic Blue Bar on the bottom
Absolutely an obstructed view!!!! All information should be changed. I have seen staterooms (and been in one) where there was a lifeboat below us and it was considered partially obstructed. I could see out, just as you can, but could NOT see down....IT WAS PARTIALLY OBSTRUCTED. If it was noted as such and the price was lower and I chose it, then all is good. I would be so upset if I paid for UNobstructed and got this! However, I love the room and the view. Just want what is advertised.
This cabin definitely should be considered as one with an obstruction! Good thing it comes at a lower cost, but for those who don’t want an obstruction, this cabin would be a disappointment. 😮
It is a partially obstructed view, no matter what they say. I enjoy seeing all around including up, down, and sid to side and in front of me. That said, I would never book an extended balcony, not my cup of tea!
I agree. Should be 10-15 % not seeing the ocean below is obstruction. The only time I saw a shark at sea was with the ability to look straight down below.
Absolutely it’s obstructed!
Definitely obstructed!
Is this an obstructed cabin? YES! YES! YES!
I would definitely consider that as a partially obstructed view. Hope you both have a great cruise. Any chance of going live today?
Not today, maybe later this week.
It is obstructed. Wouldn’t make me mad! Should be at least 15%!
Yes…partially obstructed. Looking down is big part of standing at window.
I have sailed Celebrity almost exclusively but of late, unfortunately I am finding they are once again discriminating against solo cruisers. More than once I have looked to book a cruise with them only to find that trying to book for one passenger shows no cabins available, but if I change it to two, all cabins are available. That's methed up
We had a balcony that was not listed as obstructed, twice, on NCL.

Thanks for the heads up so when I book a cruise on an Edge class ship.
You are very welcome! 🥳
I consider your cabin a partial obstructed view! I want to be able to look down and see the water.
We hear you! And agree!
Nearly the same thing happened to us last spring on the Beyond! Our 0% obstruction IV cabin had a bump-out wall jutting out immediately to the right of the window, for about 5-6 feet. We literally had no view to the right at all! Definitely obstructing your view!
Right?!
4:20 it’s obstructed!
Whoo boy! That’s a lot of people. I’m going to stick with the Soltice class while they’re still around.
It is obstructed below, to the right, nah not so much. Definitely obstructed, maybe even more than 15%. Should be a discount on this cabin. This might be worse than the balconies with that slide that goes past on some ships.
I feel like this is a bit of a gray area, the view out is clear but not the view down if you like to see down the side of the ship.
I would consider it to be obstructed! I really enjoy looking right down at the water from my veranda.
Yes it is definately an obstructed view! I would be extremely upset!!!!!
I would think this is somewhat obstructed view and you should have been notified that you don't have a full water view. They should turn the "platform" you see out your window into an accessible patio for everyone in those cabins to enjoy. There's my suggestion...(haha)
It definitely looks like a view they should have mentioned! Love the idea!
I would hate that cabin. I find it obstructed because I love watching the motion of the blue water at the side of the ship.
I feel like the price is immaterial in this question. As a customer, I would like to know if there is anything that would prevent me from being able to have full range of view. There is a mild obstruction, and I agree that 10 to 15% is fair. Like you, I would absolutely book this cabin, especially because of the price, but I still want to know that there is a little bit of an obstruction.
I agree, obstructed. Yes, complain. I also agree, it is a great Obstructed View Cabin.
Absolutely!!!
I agree, that is an obstructed view. Celebrity, in my experience, have really misled cruisers in so many ways since lockdown. I assume it is to maximise profit.
Funny, another cruiser I watch shared the same thing today. She’s on floor 9, Carnival Mardi Gras.
I would consider that partially obstructed
I loved my veranda on my Alaskan cruise (Celebrity Edge)! I love the cold and having my veranda open was heaven💕
We have been on many cruises on Celebrity Edge class ships.
I love the infinite, but that Cabin is definitely an obstructed view at least 15%.
I totally agree, this is an obstructed view! I would be disappointed if I were staying here and Celebrity saying it's not.
I agree is obstructed view.
Obstructed!!!
Yes, partially obstructed!
Yes it is a partially obstructed view. I would mention it to celebrity.
I did a bid with Princess for a partially obstructive view, I won the bid, and when I opened my door, my jaw dropped... It was fully obstructed in my opinion..... NEVER AGAIN!
Yes, I consider this as partially obstructed.
That's definitely an OV. What percentage? I'm not sure but those rooms shouldn't be sold as unobstructed.
I definitely would consider it 20% obstructed.
Hi Yall.
I would say obstructed
I recently sailed on the Ascent to the Caribbean. Room #6208. I would agree being right next to the magic carpet pillars and not being able to look out the left due to this obstruction it should be considered as obstructed. We did go to guest services to express the disappointment of having an obstructed view, as you mentioned they told me the same..... as long as you're a horse with blinders on, you can see straight ahead with no obstruction.
Ugh! So frustrating! Thanks for sharing your experience as well!
I would consider this “disappointing” and it is obstructed in my opinion, however I have had other balconies on other cruise lines that also had something “under” and didn’t let me know. Now, I fully research my cabins to find out if there will be any “surprises” and if I will be ok with it.
Definitely frustrating to have those hidden surprises!
I do think this is partially obstructed! Price not withstanding, it should be specified that this view is partially obstructed.
Hello Jared and Jordan, I agree that this is a partial obstructive view. If I book a balcony cabin it is to have a good view of the ocean. This not the case, looks like a stage .
Yeah, that’s not quite what you’d expect from a balcony!
Definitely obstructed.
In the building trades, that design is referred to as a set-back, not an obstruction, and could result in higher cost for the dwelling...go figure.
This is definitely obstructive. They are just slicing and dicing when it comes to the wording. I would be royally pissed if I walked into that cabin and this was the view.
The cabin was super quiet at night which was a pleasant surprise!
Definitely agree it's partially obstructed
It is obstructed to me.
The reality is, It is a partially obstructed view. I'm a little nervous because we are book on deck six on our cruise with your group in May. While it is a beautiful cabin I would be a little disappointed with the partial obstruction.
Obstructed for sure
Its 10% obstructed....you look out the window and see a big black parking lot
Could park a Jet-ski there! 🤣
It’s really not an obstructed view. I agree with Celebrity on this issue. Since your cabin will overheat when you lower the window, I doubt you will use the verandah to hang over the railing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
Looking down to the ripples made against the ship by the waves is one satisfying view. You are not able to see this from this type of room. Certainly a partial obstructed experience.
Totally agree - a bummer if that’s something you look forward to!
I would definitely say something. That is partially obstructed and you should receive something for being misled.
Obstructed….we stayed on Beyond in 6211 and there was an area below us that prevented us from looking directly down but we still had a much better view than your cabin.
Interesting to see how the obstructed view varies between cabins!
Definitly should be considered. This happened to me on the Anthem. The view was partially obstructed. My travel agent got in touch during the cruise after we told him and they gave us a discount!
That’s hard to do! Good going on the TA’s part!
Partially obstructed. They need to fix the problem
obstructed
I consider that a partially obstructed view…..I would be mad and disappointed too!
It's either partially obstructed, or they need to be more explicit in thier marketing materials as to what "Obstruction" really means.
Should be designated as obstructed.
We never choose the deck right above lifeboats for that reason either. You can see the tops. I only want to see water. That room is obstructed, no two ways about it. If you can't only see water, then it is obstructed.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! Definitely something Celebrity should note for future guests. ☺️
It’s more than 15%. You can’t see the water. That is what I would want to see! 30% with a note.
That's absolutely partially obstructed. If I can't look down at the water, it's obstructed. I can tell you most of the time I see sea life on an Alaskan cruise, it's looking directly down!! I'd be upset!
I love the Retreat - nothing better for the price point!
Glad you're a Retreat fan! 😊 We love the Retreat when we can as well!
@ We love it! We're trying the Haven on NCL on June, but only because we're taking our 11 year old son and he didn't have a good time when we were on Celebrity last year. He's shy and their kids club was pretty pathetic. Hopefully we're not disappointed in the Haven.
Partially obstructed!
I'd say that's obstructed.
Obstructed ii want to be able to look down and see the water but depending on the price i would still book it
Exactly! Definitely still a great cabin and super quiet!
Thats a bigger obstruction than a life boat. I would rather have a lifeboat under my room say on deck 6 in the back where the lifeboats are. Definitely 10-15%
100% agree
If there’s no view down then the view is obstructed.
Obstructed 10-15%
Yes sirs, obstructed
That’s an obstructed view 100%
That is definitely considered obstructed I would complain and use the example of it's like the difference between watching a movie in widescreen or in full screen. Instead of black bar on the top and the bottom you have a gigantic Blue Bar on the bottom
A great analogy - thanks for sharing!
I would consider this room obstructed.
No we always stay deck 8 or 9.
We’re with you, deck 9 is a sweet spot! Sometimes Captain does lock the lower windows during bad weather. So we’d say 9+.
It is obstructive at least 15%
I too like the infinite veranda. But you guys definitely got obstructed.
This cabin definitely should be considered as one with an obstruction! Good thing it comes at a lower cost, but for those who don’t want an obstruction, this cabin would be a disappointment. 😮
Should be considered partially obstructed.
It’s obstructed view.
To me this is a Semi Obstructed view. You can't even use the roof of Deck 5 for a Balcony extension.
That would be a great balcony extension!
That is an absolute partially obstructed view
It is a partially obstructed view, no matter what they say. I enjoy seeing all around including up, down, and sid to side and in front of me. That said, I would never book an extended balcony, not my cup of tea!
I would be so upset! Totally obstructed by at least 30% in my view😢
For me, anyway, I want to see ‘down’ the side of the ship to the waterline. I think it is Obstructed.
Totally understandable! We get it.
Not obstructed
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
What do they consider “straight out”? This is obstructed.
My opinion its obstructed.
Obstructed not ok
I am sorry, I would be PISSED if I walked into my cabin & saw that.
Come on Celebrity, you can do much better...
Partially Obstructed
This Is definitely an obstructed view
