- I try to follow the manufacturer's service schedule, however when I don't it is usually because I have chosen to do items sooner than recommended. On the 50hr service I do what the book recommends plus the engine oil and filter and a complete greasing.
The filter part numbers are as follows:
Hydraulic Filter- 6695918
Hydrostatic Filter- 7375650
Engine Oil Filter- 7384298
Fuel Filter- 7374363
Air Filter- 6666333
Well done sir. Your video was extremely helpful, clear and easy to understand you. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome. I’m glad it was helpful. Thanks for the comment.
There is a grease zirk for the 3 point as well. Just inside right rear fender and it points towards the rear. Also several loader bolts have needed retorqued every interval so far. I have same tractor for more than a year and happy so far.
I looked for the zirk you mentioned and couldn't find one. Are you talking about the adjustable lift arm one? The manual doesn't mention anything about greasing the top link or lift arm adjustment, which is funny, I guess it's optional.
Great and informative video. Thank you. I own the same tractor and have had pretty much the same experiences. Yes, those hydraulic filters are ridiculous to remove. For the first service I actually had to have the dealer come out to remove the Hydro filter. I never experienced a filter so ridiculously hard to remove. Outside of that, pretty easy to service as you demonstrate.
The only other issue I had was that I was constantly adding engine coolant. After taking a close look I noticed that coolant was running out and around the radiator cap. When I checked the cap I saw it was rated for 0.8 bar. I replaced the cap with a 1.4 bar cap, and that fixed it, so basically the stock radiator cap was releasing coolant when the engine got warm. It did not take much to boil it over, but the 1.4 cap definitely fixed that. Not sure what your experience has been around that, and it did not take a lot of tractor work to get it to boil.
Anyway, thanks again for the information!
Interesting, I will have to try changing the radiator cap. I am always adding antifreeze to both my CT5555 and CT2025. I have the engine oil tested at every oil change and they have not detected any coolant and I haven't noticed any coolant leaks.
Thanks for the comments.
Where is the dipstick to check the engine oil level? Thank you. Otherwise a very clear and good presentation. I like the fact that most service points are marked in red.
It is between the left front tire and left rear loader mounting point. It is clearly visible and accessible without opening the hood and has a red rubber grip.
I hope that helps.
Easily visual difference in the filters is that the filter on the left is far more concave on the inside than the one on the right.
When you change the front dif fluid. Use 75w-140 weight. The lighter fluid will leak through the from seals. My koiti dealer let me know when I bought my 50 hour filters. I also changed my fuel filter.
I'll keep an eye on mine. It currently isn't leaking, but if it does I'll know to try the different weight. Thanks!
I changed the engine oil on my CT2025 at 50 hours as well. 400 hours is way too long. Get yourself a heavy duty strap wrench for removing your filters. It has 2 inch nylon webbing with a metal socket end that you can insert a 3/8 inch drive or 1/2 inch drive ratchet/ breaker bar. It works better than a pipe wrench. And always check the mounting bolts for the loader. They will come loose.
I do have multiple strap wrenches, none of which worked. I even tried an 18" pipe wrench and it still didn't budge. I put a fair amount of effort on the 36" pipe wrench to finally get it to move. It was way too tight from the factory. I've since changed the filter again after I put it on and it came off just fine.
Thanks. 🙏
Very welcome.
I also grease the quick attach mechanism as well. I heard the pins might rust in place.
I hadn't heard that, but it never hurts to grease moving parts.
Do you use a specific grease
There is been a lot of confusion with people on what needs to be done for the 50 hour service. I am not entirely sure my dealer changed the front differential at 50 hours, so I am planning to do that myself to make sure it is good. I change the engine oil pretty much annually. A pretty cheap insurance policy to make sure your engine has protection. It would be beneficial to mention the fluids you used to fill the tractor. Bobcat has kind of special transmission oil they want you to use, and it can be kind of hard to find.
There were several things I forgot to mention. It's interesting that on the 5555 the front differential is initially changed at 400hrs and on the 2025 they call for 50hrs. As for fluids, I use the Bobcat trans/hydra fluid and everything else I use Amsoil products. I stick with the manufacturer's recommended fluid in all my transmissions, not that I don't think Amsoil or others make good fluid, I feel transmissions are the most likely to have issues and I don't want any excuses when it comes to warranty or longevity.
@@gaining_ground I do the same thing. For my 50 hour service, I had to drive to a different dealer that was an hour away to get the hydraulic fluid, since the availability was a bit scarce. They do not mention an equivalent API rating or anything in my manual for the hydro fluid, only for the oil.
Id recommend you use gear oil in front axle to prevent seal leaks down the road.
@@maxball6388 Yes, I use Amsoil 75w-90 in the differential. The manual says 80w-90, however that is not available from Amsoil.
Weird how the manuals change. I have a 2023 CT2035 and the manual says the front differential oil and HST filter/fluid, nothing about the hydraulic filter/fluid. For those curious the WIX 51621, FRAM P8480, Baldwin BT305, DaeDong T5855-46531 and others are subs for the Bobcat 7375650 HST filter. The HST fluid is GL4 and Mobile 424 is a substitute as well as Walmart's Super Tech hydraulic oil.
I wonder if Bobcat assumes the smaller HP tractors are not used as much and should have fluids changed more frequently. I have a CT5555 and it doesn't require the initial front diff oil change until 400hrs and after the initial 50hr hydraulic and HST fluid/filter not again until 400hrs.
I would have liked to seen more of the oil draining process as a new owner this is all very confusing to me, but also where did you find the information on filters and what to do at each hour interval? All i get with my tractor was just the bound booklet by the seat. Thanks for taking the time to put this together, it seems very overwhelming, i.e., what do i do with six gallons or more of hydraulic fluid and what do i even drain it into that will fit under the tractor?
There are 3 places to find the service intervals. On the bottom side of your engine compartment hood, in the owners manual page 132 for the CT2025 and lastly on Bobcat’s website under service intervals, just scroll down to compact tractors and look for your model and hit the download symbol.
The green pan you see in the video is a 2 gallon oil pan that you can pick up at any auto parts store. When I changed the filters it caught just over a gallon of oil which meant there was less than 5 gallons left to drain. I have a 5 gallon bucket that I used to catch the remainder. As for the engine and front differential I used the same green oil pan. The engine and differential each hold just over 6 quarts, so there is plenty of room for them in the green oil pan.
I’d be glad to answer any other questions you might have. It seems intimidating, but once you do it it’s not that bad.
@gaining_ground Thanks for the reply and all the details. Should I have received an owners manual or something more than just the spiral bound pampplet? And I will have to pop the hood and see what is under there on the sticker. I have not done that yet.
@@frankwrogg2515 Yes, you should have a spiral bound booklet that is 228 pages behind the seat. If you don’t I’d contact your dealership and ask them to give you one. There is a lot of great info in it that you will need.
Thanks for the video. Where do you find the capacity of fluids for each component? Oil, Hydrostatic, Hydraulic, font/rear diff. I don't see them in my manual anywhere.
You bet!
The capacities are in the back of the manual. For the CT2025 it should be page 220.
@@gaining_ground Awesome thanks!
I had to rewind 3x but you did say engine oil at 400 hours? My manual calls it out at 50 hours. I change my engine oil every 50 hours anyway as I dont pile on the hours the way many others do. Cheap insurance to me?
What model do you have?
Both my 5555 and 2025 manuals say initial engine oil change at 400hrs and then every 400hrs thereafter. I can see 400hrs after an initial early oil change. Today’s oils are very hardy, it’s the wear metals from break-in floating around that bothers me.
Thanks for your Bobcat CT videos - I just did the 50 hr service on my CT2040. It looks like Bobcat colors the bolt head orange for those that are used in common maintenance. Does anyone know why the small bolt head is colored orange that is located on the top of the front drive axle housing just inside the front wheels? I dont see these referenced anywhere in the manual - Bobcat parts online just shows "bolt". At this location only thing I can think of is to vent air when doing the front axle drain and change?? Too small for a fill port Stumped.
You are welcome. Yeah, that's all I can figure, that those upper plugs are for venting, one other viewer thought the same thing. The other curious item is the front oil capacity states "xx qts each". It doesn't say each side specifically (considering there is only one fill port) and the total that I have put in doesn't match the capacity individually or times 2, so I am not sure about that either.
I have the same tractor also and am coming up to the 50hr mark. Did you buy your fluids and filters from a bobcat dealer or somewhere on the innerweb?
I buy all my filter and fluids from the dealer. There are Bobcat branded filters on the internet that actually knockoffs and don’t meet factory specs, so I stick with the dealer. The Bobcat website is the cheapest, your dealer should price match. If they don’t it’s free shipping over $99 order, which is easy to get to because nothing is cheap anymore.
Hope that helps.
Hey have the same tractor. New to tractors 🚜 myself. Mine is just under 30hours. Having a heck of a time getting it to engaged the (what I call 4x4x) I think technically it’s 2 wheel assist or something. Sometimes it will work other times nope she won’t kick in at all. Any ideas on why? Or did anyone have the same issue
What I do is put my left heel on the 4 wheel drive lever and push down and at the same time gently push on the forward or reverse hydrostat pedal and it usually goes right in. You just need to move the transmission enough get the gears to line up. Hope that solves your issue.
I just bought one on 1/12/25 and my manual says 50 hours for first oil change.
Yes. Bobcat sent out an update for CT2025 owners last year (2024). It included new stickers for the under the hood maintenance items decal and stickers to overlay in the owner's manual maintenance section. I would assume at that time they printed new owner's manuals for the 2025's from then on. There were several changes made, including adding the initial engine oil change at 50hrs. I'm not sure why the sudden change of heart.
50 hours in 5 days…
Yeah, when we get a good weather window we have to take advantage of it.
