Would this same procedure apply to a 2001 B1500 van with the 3.9 liter V6? Is this basically the same engine that's in my van? I work on mostly foreign cars but I'm not familiar with this particular design. Thanks!
Did Hughes have the plenum kit in stock ? When did you purchase the kit jus very recently or back a while ago ?Or did you have to order an wait for it to come in ? I checked there online stock an it said they had none in stock an didn’t know when they have more plenum kits back in . If that have them in I better give them a call an get the kit I need one bad for my cousins truck ! Let me know I appreciate an that was a good video 👍
I gave them a call and they had one in stock. They were out of the kit that had the Felpro gaskets so I just used the kit with the standard gaskets. Thanks
@@Chuck_House_of_Mopar is there any way that you could send me a phone number for Hughes parts. I need to order the kit for one of my Dodge's trucks. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.
Rudy, I got a driveshaft from a truck at the junkyard, basically for the front and rea yokes. Then I had to have one custom made at a local drive shaft shop. Hope that helps. Thanks
That Permatex Ultra Black is the real ticket. You'll use that on each of the 4 corners where the rubber gasket sits. Where the head and China wall meet and that's about it. It's not a bad idea to maybe put just a couple of small dime sized squirts of permatex just to hold the paper gasket in place so that it doesn't move when you put the intake on. Does that make any sense?
I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 5.2 and got a big leak coming from bottom of the truck I’m thinking it’s plenum gasket / intake gasket from research do those gaskets leak coolant is my question?
I don't think that you can expect a coolant leak from the plenum gasket. It could be from the intake manifold gasket itself. I don't need to tell you this, I'm sure, but try to trace the leak back up to the top of the motor if you can.
@@Chuck_House_of_Mopar sounds good thanks for the info I’m going to replace my intake gaskets and pass on the plenum gasket and go from there I’m only leaking coolant going all the way down on my transmission not oil any other tips you have
@@tinohurtado9471 As long as you have that intake off, you really should replace the plenum gasket. I promise you that it is sucking some oil. Not sure what you mean exactly Thomas, but this is a known problem with the Magnum plenum for many years. Chrysler actually had a PCM update that detuned the engine to stop the spark knock from the excessive oil that was drawn in.

That I do not know. I would suspect that the intake is of a different design.
These gaskets blow would that cause a Map sensor code to show up?
I wouldn't think so. It just causes the motor to suck oil.
I did this job and left a trash bag in the valley. That takes the cake

What are the torque specs on torquing down the intake manifold to the heads
I do not remember, I'm sure that they're on the web somewhere but they don't take much. Maybe 15 foot pounds?
3 passes 4 ft. lb. 8 ft. lb. 12 ft. lb. it's Alum. 12 is the max

Straight from Hughes Engines.

I was never sure those K&N filters were worth the effort or cost.
They help it breathe, but probably not worth the extra dirt that gets pulled in.
They are not worth the $$$ for a couple hp
