Nice work on that expansion chamber, and great outcome on the Al case. Enjoyed as always, cheers to you and the family John!

I've never been the first to comment, until tonight! 🙂 (and I'm 'into' 2 smokers, having said that hate welding 2 stroke exhausts, they are horrible)

Dirty Bastard things . Alloy ones that have been used are bad to weld .

Optrel is my prefered one , The Wife has the R-Tech air fed unit .
I sometimes use that , the optics are not as good as the Optrel , but not fare away .

Chasing holes in crappy metal with a MIG torch. Such fun!

G'day John. The copper guide worked out well, & the alloy weld turned out good, the only thing, I would have welded the small notch still in the casing.
The exhaust pipe welding was an excellent job, well done.

Looked like there was still a small hole in that expansion chamber pipe right at the end of you last weld? Could of been my eyes tricking me though

I hate welding thin stuff. That easy set feature sure helps with initial settings. You don't just blow the thing to bits when you strike an arc. Anyone who has tig welded shows the scars from a still blazing hot tungsten. I have several myself. At least when you get stung the wound is cauterized...

Nice one John that MIG is a fine piece of kit I might just have to sneak one into the workshop i think I’ll need to do it when the boss is on holiday 😂👍

Just ab idea, why not weld a stud to the bottom of the torch holder, and move where needed on the welding table?

The torch holders I use have a magnet bolted to the base .

I sincerely hope that the DIY work had the camera rolling at the time. If it's as funny as the Brown sauce video it will be a smash hit.
