Kickstarter is a super mystery to me, putting your project together, getting featured and of course gettting funded... thanks for shedding a little more light on it, do you have a video specifically on Kickstarter campaigns? Just wondering and thanks for all that you do, dude!!!
The humor, quality and content of these recent videos has been outstanding. This was honestly hilarious AND informative - absolutely crushing it Thomas!
Hey Thomas, I really like watching your videos. This recent style is pretty fun to watch too. Getting educated while getting entertained is something really precious :) love u, have a nice day ❤
This video was so goofy lmao. This is one of my favorite pieces of content you've made, since the tone is so different. Its like your channel is finding it's identity here, keep it up!
Hey Thomas, I'm a highschool senior and just shot you an email about creating a biography paper on you for my English Class. Would love to hear back from you and make this happen. You inspire me!
@@thomasbrush wow you must have a bomb workflow for recording and editing then dude. If I was in ur shoes I’d have to have weeks or even months worth of content story boarded and written before recording them and editing. You use adobe premiere right? I finally bought Sony Vegas because of the one time purchase and it’s awesome. I think most of us really like the “chaos” your editing has brought man. You’re really funny and this kind of editing will bring in young people and blow up your channel. Nice work!
I think a lot of creatives lack the business sense to monetize their work. Making assets, courses and frequently promoting them on your own channels seems super fine to me, even if for some others it might be too much. Great video edit, and I had a few chuckles too!
President of marketing, your son has been kidnapped by Thomas Brush and taken to the Happy Hotel where he has a live game show about killing zombies and clowns
I will add to the chorus on here: LOVE the new video style, makes me want to get into editing and stuff... might enliven my youtube channel a bit...! Also, thanks!
The thing about crowdfunding, I feel like it's free money. What do they get in return? I mean what's the guarantee? I mean if I'm a nice guy, I would do something for them. Like give them a demo level ? Buts it's all wrong right? My thinking? It's the same as getting funding from a publisher, because they will get something in return, but then again you don't have to be a nice guy in this case.
Also consider: is todays work actual failure or just a first rough iteration you're going to polish tomorrow? Its pretty normal to do several rounds of testing and improvement, even at big tech companies.
never have understood this sort of thing. some people are lucky some aren't. you can try and do everything here - which don't get me wrong, is great advice. but still wind up stuck. not able to get an audience. I've been on RUclips for over 6 years. I have under 500 subscribers. most people successful on RUclips talk about how they started small - but then associate small with 1,000,10,000, even up to like 30k subscribers. I'm like.. what!?!? I would love to be able to do this sort of stuff. but unfortunately, RUclips, Google, and etc. have not blessed me with good RNG in life. ciao. curious if anyone else feels the same way or if I'm just seriously unlucky lol. edit OUT.
i think going from 0 (if you've ignored the toxic poison that is social media) to a critical mass of followers on any platform is basically a no-go at this point, it's so saturated now especially in the last 3-4 years when everyone and their dog decided to be an influencer of some sort. hard work and skill won't succeed there, it's quite literally about getting really lucky with the algorithm or a shout out from a big account - otherwise getting 100k is gonna take like 10 years.
i mean if you want the ebaneezer scrooge speech its probably easier to be a actual code dev as the business world is so much easier to get actual work... i've worked almost a year on my game so far at 0 dollars a hour, but i do a handful of program /dev / web projects at 100/hr and i will probably make more than my indie game ever will without luck like you mention (streamers, shoutouts, random viral etc)
Hey Thomas, I’m working on a next gen arena shooter, and I’m almost done with the demo. I’m making the AI bots mostly people that where a big inspiration for me. Would it be ok if you where one of the bots in it? Keep up he brilliant work! :)
I see you are doing film making as well. Story telling isnt my strong suite and most the game Ive made are mere sandboxes. How did u learn to create story for your games?
Thomas. Thom. Can I call you Thom? Ok talm. You should start publishing games. You hear me tolm? You're gonna make a lot being on that side. And you could be the kind of publisher you would have wanted to work for you. You get it? Think about it tomb!
I get that you're changing your style to appeal to the zoomers more, but for anyone older than 20 it's a bit off-putting. I personally can't watch videos like this so I'll have to dip out. Either way, do whatever you feel is right, just some feedback.

I have a question for you... How do you deal with failure personally as a full time indie game developer
I tell myself failure is the cost of success. Failure * 2 = Success
