Great perspective Josh! I bought the PodGo at its initial release, so it’s “only” 4 yrs old… old tech in a world where tech is rapidly evolving. But who cares when the quality and features of the PG are so good. This was my first foray into modeling technology and I thought the price of entry was very reasonable for what you get. I guess I’m what you would call a “weekend warrior wannabe”, mostly jamming with buddys, playing at some friends parties, and doing some open mics. I wouldn’t use the advanced features of better modelers, and I don’t think I could discern sound quality differences anyways. I think the PG is a fantastic tool and so versatile!
After 10 years of using the DigiTech rp360xp I finally upgraded to the Pod Go a few months ago. I tried the headrush core first but none of my DAWs would recognize the driver.
You don't need an expensive modeler, i have the valeton 200 and get any sound i want. I did add an extra distortion pedal for stacking. I'm sure if you're a player and are going for a modeler, you'll have a distortion pedal.
The only reasons why I would buy a Helix LT would be that it has some really great amps more than the Pod Go and that the Pod Go is very quickly reaching its DSP limit. In some cases the choice of effects is reduced significantly if a certain amp is chosen. This is a little annoying. On the other hand some of the amps in the Pod Go are awesome. The Plexis are fantastic (I got a real one and am able to directly compare them to the original) , the Friedman and Fender Models great. I do just need three channels, a clean one, a break up bluesy channel and a more classic rock channel with a decent reverb and a bit delay. Having a compressor and some drives is absolutely enough to play any gig with it. I made the experience that it is rather more important to have an adequate FRFR if a modeler is supposed to be fun at all. Investing in a good FRFR is key. Fender provides some very affordable solutions here with the FR speakers.
I own a pod go. As with you i still prefer my tube amps, Fender and Vox. When i gigged regularly i used my amos and pedal board that had a compressor, tube screamer, and delay al vintage pedals. I used the amps reverb. Im 80 years old now and only play in our church band and at som open mic jams. I got the pod go as you did in 2021 mainly because i wanted something i could take with me that didn't weigh so much. I also have the pod go carry bag and my wireless that i got from amazon. It gives me great sound for church and i use a few presets i made myself and i have a lot of your presets which i have made minor tweaks to mainly because my ears are different than yours. This pod go does everything that you would ever want it to and since the upgrade with new cabs it really is an awesome unit. I have some custom ir's and they are really good but the 2.0 cab selection gives you a lot of mic selection and also you can place them where you find the sound is best. I thank you for all your presets and the knowlege i have gained from your youtube channels. The pod go does everything i need and probably a lot more than i need due to my playing style. Im very fortunate at my age that i can still play and really enjoy it. Sorry for being so long winded. I just want you to know that your work is really appreciated.
I bought a pod go about 6 months ago. It was my first experience in the digital modeling world & to be honest I almost returned it because I was so overwhelmed. After spending countless hours with you tube creators like yourself I have grown to love this thing with the addition of an FRFR. I've also gotten good reviews of the sounds it's capable of. Love your channel, keep up the good work.
Everything you said Josh is true. It is a great product. Although I'm having trouble with the wireless right now. The pod go is built like a tank solid dependable. Thanks Josh for a great channel
Still learning how to use the Pod Go, I have played acoustic for years. I dove into electric and definitely a learning curve. Your videos have helped. Would love to see a video on how to use the looper.
Just picked up a used pod go to replace my pedalboard of 5 stomp boxes. I wanted the ability to make presets for each song my band plays to have the exact drive, modulation and delay times with the press of a switch. Dude I bought it from had deleted all the presets, so I simply did a factory reset which literally took 30 seconds. I then updated to the latest 2.01 firmware which added a bunch of pedals, cabs and amp models. The last thing I had to do was snug up the expression pedal bolt, as it was loose. Paid $260 USD and the owner also threw in a crappy ghostfire pedalboard and bag for free. Got home and opened the bag to find a free 1spot power supply, so if I were to resell the pedalboard and 1spot that would put my cost at about $210-$220 USD, which is an absolute steal IMO.
I have both the Pod Go and a Valeton GP-200. The Pod Go is the superior unit. Much better reverbs and delays. The Valeton does have some great amps and distortions though. Good wahs too. Not a bad unit if you're on a budget. I like these modellers because they are convenient, versatile, and affordable. I use mine equally with amp and without.
I use the podgo preamps in front of a clean amp. The drives and stuff do real good with real amps too. Pod go is the cheapest way into pro digital sounds. There are higher dsp amps and effects that are top tierrrrr
Great video! You helped decide which of the Line 6 mods I need. My friend loves his Helix, but I can't justify dropping over 2K, especially with two young kids. I haven’t touched my amps in years, and I have an iRig and a BlueBoard, but they are not giving me the experience I want. Also, if my bandmates and I get our stuff in order to record a new album, this will be a great addition. Thank you!
Hi, Josh! Thanks for all your endeavors and pod go presets over the last year or so I've had my pod go. I met you through the FB page than Ivan used to run but have lost the link or the site was shut down? Is that group still active? Thanks for any help you would give helping me find that or another good site for presets.
Thanks for watching 🙏 Yeah, Ivan appeared to leave his own group and make it public. Someone took it over and retitled it. Not sure why he left his group but as long as he's okay then that's what matters.
Regarding your clickbait title : how could you possibly know my - or anybodys - needs? I'm getting tired of videos with all captions saying you must watch this and know that and look no further... The POD Go is a great device but definitely not covering all needs
He looks a bit older, he may have some experience over the years. He’s probably used and seen many rigs over the years, it’s not rocket science to figure this stuff out, and how it relates to the pod go. If you tired go to sleep.
Normally I don't respond to negative leaning comments, but I want to address this. Regarding my video title...it's RUclips 101..to generate interest or questions. Of course I don't know everyone needs. But did you watch the entire video? It's certainly an opinion piece but it asks a lot of questions...ones that I hope anyone would ask themself when contemplating a digital modeler purchase. Overall it's a question to one's self to assess their needs. Yes, I feel the POD Go can cover many player's needs...but again, that's just my opinion.
@@JoshGordonGuitar Well said. And imo the pod go, the boss gx-100, headrush core, etc are all excellent and will cover all of our needs. How much do we really need lol. Do we really need 50 amps, 100 effects and endless adjustments? Any of these will cover 99.9% of everything we need. The main differences are function and layout. What works best for for us. And again,. all of them will work fine after learning how to use them.
@nagyvk1 I understand and share with you such feeling! Of course if it's lying, we can thumb down and put to Don't Recommend ... later, but still dispointed. The problem is, as he said, RUclips 101: the most important is the views, yt doesn't care if the content is true or fake or shocking or lying... (the more shocking or lying will cause more views so getting more money from yt), so we see titles like... "At x yo she confesses... and the world is shocked" or "you can't believe if you don't see...", well, that attract curiosity, right? (From my side, I put all those with such title into Don't recommend...). I come here because I want the truth, which could help my buying decision (trade-off btw GX100, Line6PG, Headrush, MG30...), but want to glance the reviews first before looking. Hope the clip vaults what he says...

I put a compressor in front of the pod go, really improves better feel and responsiveness (a simple boost would also be good also).

Fender fr 12

I have Helix floor and of course I love it.....but if I was gigging I'd use a pod go, with maybe two pedals and a looper and be good to go 👍🏻

I have a fender mustang floor from 2013. Worjs great. Sounds great. So simple to use.
I have the PodGo WL and Ampero II Stomp here. Selling the Pod. Ampero II sounds way better to be honnest
Great video Josh!
What are the settings for the Country Preset you played?
Oh jeez, pretty sure I’ve deleted that country preset 😮 But I do have other country preset videos on my channel 😊
Thanks man! I ca n grab a used one at my local Music Store for $350
Awesome!
