AoE2: DE Campaigns | Le Loi | 5. A Three-Pronged Attack

In this scenario, Le Loi and his Vietnamese rebels must take back the city of Nghe An from the Ming. Your army is split into three separate camps, and you must survive the attack from Wang Tong on your flank. A little hectic at times, but overall quite manageable.

The blood on -La Hire's- Le Trien's sword is almost dry...
Those 4 generals were among the Three-Pronged attack campaign to the North of Vietnam from January of 1426. Le Trien was among Pham Van Xao, Trinh Kha and Do Bi in the 1st Division, about 4000 men. They were tasked to go to the Northwest region. Later this army, alongside the army of Dinh Le and Nguyen Xi (3rd Division - Direct to Hanoi) gave Wang Tong a crushing defeat at Tot Dong - Chuc Dong in Oct 1426 when they slain 50 000 Ming troops and captured 10 000 men, Wang Tong also got injured in this battle. From that, Wang Tong had to change from Attack to Defense mode.
Ofc, historical sources conflict because even though the Battle of Tot Dong - Chuc Dong was an ambush, an army of nearly 10k men would be difficult to take the Ming army (100k men). So it is possible that each Division must have had at least 10k+ men, the number recorded might be known as the Thiet Dot troops (the most elite troops in the Lam Son rebellion).
Unfortunately, Le Trien was killed in the battle of Cao Dong, near Ha Noi in 1427. Dinh Le and Nguyen Xi were captured after the battle of Tay Phu Liet (west of Hanoi) in 1427, Nguyen Xi managed to escape but Dinh Le was executed. Le Trien (real name as Ly Trien) and Dinh Le were among some of the first generals in the rebellion who attended the Lung Nhai Oath Ceremony. Dinh Le's brother, Dinh Liet was a prominent general in the rebellion and later in the Vietnamese Army of the Le dynasty.
Bui Bi and Luu Nhan Chu were the commanders of the 2nd Division which were tasked to go to the Northeast Region. Luu Nhan Chu was renowned among the generals who established the Le. Unfortunately, later, due to the feud with another official, he was poisoned in 1433.
And the devs not even make the most important battle of the whole war, The Chi Lang-Xuong Giang Battle.

Oh god, your central starting base was saved by those water buffalo preventing the BBCs and more from exiting. Hilarious. Only in AoE 2. I kept thinking, where are the bombards? One time the resource carts to Wang Tong never began spawning and he had to go full trash

LOL I just played this on moderate difficulty and the north camp never sends any more supplies than the first cart in the beginning. Is that a bug or just something to do with the difficulty?
Hopefully they will buff the Vietnamese in the next patch

when the enemy gets water buffalo blocked but you get trebuchet blocked
Currently doing this mission I have mainly focused my efforts on Wang tong as he seems to be the most dangerous I'm able to prevent most units and resources getting to him but he's still giving me a good fight. I built at least 2 castles in the base close to Wang tong and it's doing pretty well at holding his forces at bay. My trebs have devastated much of his camp and I'm on the verge of crushing it completely. Should state I'm playing on standard which is pretty easy but not that easy.
My machine is not very good. How can I connect with other players on social media?
Why do I always feel like a young foo when playing this campaign?

@@phamquangminh1995 Thank you! Haha...it sounds so much like young fool to my US English accustomed ears. I'm enjoying learning some Vietnamese history, I mean how it really happened since most Age of Empires campaigns are not very accurate.

u just need to build a dock and a ship to touch the monument to win !
1. I wonder if I can defeat Ai Lao earlier with the monk hero converting elephants.
2. They need to fix the AI of Wang Tong to surrender when they lose their TC and castle. It took too long to defeat them as I had to devastate everything of them.
Starting troops on the east + an additional monk is enough to destroy all Ai Lao's troops. Then, use the converted elephants (monks healing) to destroy the TC and Ai Lao will be still alive (castle) but doing pretty much nothing.
Did you get that castle alllllll the way west? That's what I had to hit to get them to finally fuck off.
I saw that you can build a wonder so could you have won by doing a wonder victory?
if its not in the obj no, you can build it and just waste resource , better save before and know if that work but campaign objective will tell if thats the option (dont think dev will forgot to lock the victory with wonder if they want you to do the mission)

So the reason why it was easy was because you weren't diligent enough collecting Water Buffalo.

this le loi campaign is so hard. i've completed many campaigns on hard and im really struggling with this one

Ai Lao never attacks.
i guess this changed cause i got attacked by a million elite battle and ballista elephants, so brutal
So... I had to defeat everybody because capturing the monument did nothing
I finish this mission 4 hours in moderate i clear all the map haha
Mission 1 n 2 absolutely sucked, miserable. Mission 3 n 4, 60 maxed elite rattan + bombards melts everything in its path, levels of magnitude easier. Wonder what 5 n 6 will bring.
Ugh cyan continually attacking with armies of skirms n ele warriors through that perfectly narrow little entrance at southern part of your main base, little wall, 1 castle with 5 rats inside n a few cav hanging out incase of trebs and you could peacefully fight wang tong. Or just leave it wide open to be a constant pain n threat n make your life much harder than necessary. Why oh why does an expert player like you make the most nonsensical choices sometimes. Idk.
