I wish I had a more helpful answer for you. If you're young and struggling with these types of emotions, just know that they won't last forever. I know how permanent these things can feel when you're young. But emotions aren't permanent, esp those in your youth. If you're truly struggling on a day-to-day basis, and you have access to mental health resources, it certainly can't hurt to have a professional talk you through your anxieties. Good luck. So I already knew a lot about cars and weapons but my mom taught me nothing, just made fun of me when I put on striped pants with a polka dot shirt when I was 5, kinda deal! Who bought me these clothes anyway?! 🤔 One day she just said, "You look like d*@th warmed over! Put on some makeup!" Well I didn't have any yet. Sorry, my gummie has kicked in, back to retail. Helped me learn how to do my makeup and what colors were best for me. Got a new wardrobe at employee price! Spent my paycheck there and then some! So if you have issues with impulsive spending without returning, might not be the best idea but I enjoyed it for a while, especially helping security with shoplifters and grab and runs, which were all prosecuted! I'd hike up my skirt and start running! Got pretty good at it in dress shoes/heels! Sorry... Gummie Oh ya! My point.. So in the areas of your life you don't feel confident, work on them! There's so many resources out there! Way more than when I was a teen, tons more!

This song spoke to my adolescent soul. I used to get so butthurt and JEALOUS like I needed to know everything that his ex was into where she went, who she hung out with, what kind of music she listened to, what shampoo she used, etc… It consumed me. I even found myself trying to do my makeup like hers. It’s refreshing and validating to know that many of us went through this angsty, insecure phase and compared ourselves to other women. I think it was harder in the 2000s since it was more toxic, and pitting women against women and slut shaming was the cultural norm then.

It's refreshing to see someone as real and vulnerable as Olivia. Believe the hype. She's not going places; she's already arrived.
she’s SO good at acting out the awkward insecurity of it all. i’ve been obsessed with exes or “other woman”(s) and wondered about them, watched them like they’re threatening to me and i absolutely hate that i can behave that way and have so much anxiety about them even once they’re long in the past of the person we have in common. i love how olivia sings about that bc i struggle to relate to songs that put down other women competitively. i’m not confident or self assured. i can’t tell myself “he’ll never find better she can’t possibly compare/compete” bc i struggle with feeling like yes he can, yes she can. it’s all unhealthy either way but i like knowing it’s not just me who’s still open about addressing how insecure that shit can make you feel, and how that insecurity makes you spiral into anxieties and behaviors you never thought you’d so easily bend to.

She is a great artist, who overshadows her triumphs. I should support life and innocence. Do not condemn her to death without first holding a trial. She had the opportunity to be born, but she works so that others do not have what she had and in abundance.

Like, maybe she loved him but wasn't IN love with him? So she went back to her ex she was in love with. Maybe she got her dream job offer in LA and he wanted to stay in NYC, so she chose to leave? Maybe she was from a rich family and he from the poor side of town and her parents didn't like him. Maybe she decided she didn't want to be in a relationship at that moment, like, maybe she realized she needed to be single? Maybe they both realized they were better off as just friends? I know it's a fictional song, but these are some reasons people break up besides cheating.

it gets better when you learn to love yourself though. She wasn't even his ex, but a girl he liked and when I found out I used to stalk her accounts like crazy and think about her almost everyday (it was worse I think because she was a different race than me and a lot of people where i live like that race) as if I was in love with her and not him HAHAHA. I was never feeling personally ill towards her or judging how she looks, if i was I would cut that out right then and there. Now, I never think about her.
