    £2,000 is mid range? Top range to me. Good luck to them. Always liked Yamaha as a company. Hope to see them in the hands of big names in the future. It's all relative i suppose.

    This guitar will become a shelf warmer because at €1249 and €2150 they are far too expensive here in Germany! A few years ago, the Pacifica 612 was available here for €549, but now it costs at least €899 and has become a shelf warmer here. The Pacifica Standard and Professional will suffer the same fate.

    Yamaha Pacifica guitars are great 'n all, but what is up with those prices??

    • @ChidOki
      @ChidOki 6 месяцев назад

      They already have beginner to intermediate level model Pacificas; now they're making higher level ones with better specs, and for the Professional level, it's produced in a more expensive country with more experienced craftsman, so that's going to cost more. It's the same with every other guitar brand. I'm sorry if there's something specific you're referring to that I'm missing.

    Beautiful guitar but I am perplexed. Yamaha produced an almost identical guitar in 1994 and 95. The Made in Japan Pacifica 904. Ash over alder body with a Warmoth compound radius neck, Sperzel locking tuners and their own hand wound pickups, contoured heel joint. I am fortunate to own #51 of 500 made in 95. Through the years I have purchased numerous Fender Strats including the recent Elite and Ultra series. Both of which I sold. Still have a 2010 American Deluxe which speaks to me. The 904 is a gem and in all these years I have only had to replace the push/pull pot. For whatever reason as Yamaha migrated manufacturing to Taiwan then Indonesia they adopted a less elegant design and more affordable Pacifica with the standard palm stopping heel joint(the 812 and 604 retained it briefly) as Fender, and less than stellar pickups. Now here we are in 2024 and they decide to revise the 904 with new pickups and a price tag that rivals Fender’s Ultra Deluxe. This is going to be an uphill battle for Yamaha and will scarcely dent Fender’s market share.

    • @ChidOki
      @ChidOki 6 месяцев назад

      I think I'm missing something. If the Yamaha 904 is as good as or better than many Fender Strat Elites and Ultras (it sounds like that's what your implying), then what is so perplexing about them revising and reissuing (in your terms) it, and then pricing it just under an Ultra Deluxe?
      In fact, if Pac 904 is greater than or equal to the Strats you mention, and a Pac Pro is basically a Pac 904, then it sounds like fantastic value if a Pac Pro is greater than or equal to a Ultra Deluxe but costs less.

    • @Taylort3b
      @Taylort3b 5 месяцев назад

      @@ChidOkiIt is Yamaha’s marketing strategy that is perplexing. Why pack the 904 in after 2 years of trying to compete with Fender only to introduce an updated version in direct competition with Fender? I am not questioning the quality of the new model. But with a plethora of competition out there they have essentially launched the rebirth of the 904 with a facelift. Don’t forget, Yamaha also tanked the 812W and the 604W in the late 90s. Both great guitars in their own right and with the same contoured heel as the new professional. I’m just a guitarist. Not a marketing strategist. It will be interesting to see if Yamaha pulls the plug on the new professional model in two years if sales struggle.

    • @ChidOki
      @ChidOki 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Taylort3bI see. Well, however hard it is for a lot of people to view this way, maybe we need to stop viewing it through the lens of competition. Obviously there’s an implicit competition in any space where there are other companies producing the same product at similar price points but this is not like Apple selling phones, where your customer’s either going to buy your iPhone or use an Android. Yamaha’s customer base for these two new Pacifica’s are hobbyist/collector guitar players who are GASing hard enough to own multiple guitars over their lifetime and into it enough they go on RUclips to comment about it (like us 😂). Put out something similar enough to what people know but just different enough to be unique, don’t produce too many or too little of them, and you’re likely to sell a good chunk of them. Honestly, Yamaha is so different from the other guitar companies that I think we forget they can approach the purpose of producing a guitar from a completely different standpoint. They’re not like Fender or PRS or Gibson where all they do is guitars and related equipment…they are a worldwide musical instrument company and guitars are just one division/department, and they sort of are more interested in tickling their own fancy of trying out different things in the lab more than optimizing the mass selling of a a product and measuring success that way. If there’s one thing Yamaha hasn’t done well, it’s marketing themselves. I think they’ve historically underpriced what they produce and have sold a lot less than they could have with a more intentional marketing strategy. It’s really hard for Americans to view this way, but I just don’t think profit is their #1 goal, which we habitually assume, so if we do assume that…yeah. Marketing won’t make sense 😂 haha just some thoughts.
      They might pull the plug in a couple years regardless of sales. You can never tell with Yamaha lol, it’s like you said, why did they ever do away with high line Pacificas originally?
