    • @KASLCustoms

      Yes, they are a different design and apparently stiffer then hard top mounts. I guess it’s because the verts needed to stiffen up the front end of the car due to lack of roof rigidity. I guess they actually use the motor mounts to motor to accomplish this

    Great video. I see a wide variation of OEM type mounts in the marketplace. Pricing also varies widely. What manufacturer do you suggest for OEM type mounts? Also, did the fan actually hit the shroud? In retrospect, did you need to loosen the shroud?

      Thank you very much! I can't remember the brand of these mounts now... that said, they are nothing fancy - just better then the ones that were in there LOL! As for the fan, nothing ended up hitting but in order to lift the motor and keep everything attached you do need to loosen the shroud and re adjust once the new mounts are in.

I got all my smog stuff out the car as well and thanks for your reply on that video u did as it help me greatly. I will ask u a dumb question in regards to motor mounts. Is it normal after pulling a transmission out of a foxbody for the engine to be able to freely move back and forward front to back? I would assume it's normal and just flex since that big boat ⚓ anchor AOD I removed is no longer in the car? 😂. I'm thinking maybe just change the mounts out for preventative maintenance while I have the tranny out. anyhow thanks again dude! 🙏 your awesome! Cheers 🥂 🍻 from the states down here in Maryland. • @KASLCustoms
      @KASLCustoms  Год назад

      You’re welcome! Unless your mounts are totally gone, they can be somewhat difficult to diagnose… I would get under the car and inspect them, that will tell you a lot. I can’t remember what brand I used, all i know is they were a OE parts store brand replacement. As for the high speed vibration, does it still do it when you take it out of gear (neutral)? If so, it’s not your motor mounts. I’d look at possibly getting your tires/wheels re balanced.

    Hi @kaslcustoms. Is this the same process you used when you replaced the oil pan gasket? You removed the screws from the fan shroud, removed the single bolts that secure the motor mounts to the frame, and lifted the engine with the lift? My LX 5.0 Foxbody has the original mounts and oil pan gasket. I figured I would take care of both. Does this process provide enough room to remove the oil pan completely away from the car? I would like to clean it before reinstalling it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

      @@KASLCustoms Hi KASLCustoms. She's been sitting in my garage for 9+ years which is why I would prefer to remove the oil pan. So, I will have to flush it like you did. I believe you poured 2 quarts of oil in and allowed it to drain out to accomplish this? Are you using 100% synthetic oil, or the synthetic blend Ford recommended? Also, I am replacing timing chain & gears, water pump, and the harmonic balancer while I am in this area as well. As far as the harmonic balancer, I believe the 1084N is what the factory installed. She will continue to be a daily driver once ready for the road. Would you stay with the 1084N, or upgrade to the 1084ST or 1084SS? I would appreciate your input. Thanks again. Norm - Mustang8846
