I have the XR10 Pro G3X with the 8.5 turn motor in my B7 and its so good!!! Also happy new year!!! Hope 2025 will be a great year for you and your family!
Running XD10 Pro setup on one drift car and a XR10 Stock Spec G2 on the other. There is _very_ little, if any, difference between the two indeed. I can always recommend the Stock Spec G2 as the best bang for buck ESC.
Did you check to the end of this video? Around 14:07 I discuss other options, including one that is MUCH cheaper but performs 98% the same. That is my go-to recommendation!
That's not the newest motor. Regardless, I've never found any of the hobbywing race motors to be any good for drift. Too much magnetic resistance, makes them have a ton of off throttle braking and a less than ideal torque application. That being said, the g3 esc is awesome. I paired one up with a 13.5t D10 motor. Tons of punch from the g3 and all the tuning options you'd want to dial in throttle feel. Also really appreciate the auto fan. In use for me it kicks on for about 30 seconds every 2-5 minutes. Keeps dust and noise down and saves battery.
100%! Yes - their motors are not the BEST for drifting, but you can also tune some of the magnet drag out with coast. I also really like the smart fan. Great add!
Great esc/motor combo but not convinced it's ideal for drift? Not as smooth as I thought it would be, especially with PWM set so high (curious to know how hot things got?). My guess is the high torque/torque density of the G3 can is better suited to off-road, as well as the inherent drag break (regardless of it being turned off). I'd probably spend the extra for the xd10 combo.
Hi there! Is it the 100% best setup for drift? No - I don't think so. But it works really good and would be more than enough for 90% of drivers. Heat: never got hot. The smart-fan was barely running.
I just got my Rev-D ESC and Motor over my stock RDS stuff 😅 Is it necessarily to callibrate it before use ??? Would be cool to know what all those parameters mean in the ESC settings 😊 Do you have any video about that ?
I *almost ordered one when they first came out. But honestly, with so many other good options coming out, my interest has diminished. Do you have one? You like it?
The justock combo is very affordable, that is true. It also lacks some of the key tuning features and doesn't allow for turbo or boost. For roughly the same price, you can actually go to the new 10bl120 g2...which adds some of those features.
@@RoadsideRC thanks for the info, im new to drifting and you have some very informative videos, i ordered a Xerun Bandit G4 Outlaw motor last week to pair with the justock esc and then i saw your video, would the XR10 Pro G2S esc be a better fit for the Bandit motor?
@@nashtwamp 100% do not recommend the Justock as you lose all of the turbo/boost tuning capability and don't really save a bunch of $$$. Here is the ESC I would recommend and still be cheaper than the Pro G2S: alnk.to/ei2Ixsq
Ok xd10 is 160 buck d10 motor is 90 bucks.. on my opinion the d10 motor is far more superior just by the cool factor it has. As for the for the xr10 stock spec u cant go wrong unless u need to do reverse motor rotation
Came to comment the same thing. HobbyWing Direct has most everything on sale. From what I understand the xd10 has a higher pwm possibility which will offer smoother more efficient motor control at the sacrifice of torque. I just wish the XD10 had the smart fan control this G3 does! Ive been asking for that feature on all their esc’s for at least a decade now. At this point Im just over here waiting for the drift crowd to catch onto drone and crawler tech. Im thinking 6 pole in runner stubby motor with an am32 sensor-less esc.

100%!!
Thanks for the feedback!
I use 19t pinion and 84t spur no matter the track or surface in my RD1. Works good enough that I chose to tune around it
Makes sense.
I only change gearing when my main-track gets a different layout.
Is it possible to programming that ESC without Program Card? 😮
You will need either the program card or OTA.
I do suggest the OTA, this one: alnk.to/fHmSVej
Any pointers for a mid range Esc / motor combo. I blew my stock electronics so perfect time to update

good review setup and thoughts mate nice to see the test
🥸fully viewed🤖Au🦘☑thumbs up👍👍
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Hi why you choose the g3 ans not the g4r ?
That is what was available in the combo.
@RoadsideRC oh Ok thanks you

I'd love to see a brushed setup in the car to see how it performs?

Brushed gets a LOT of hate...but it really isn't that bad. Of course, no boost/turbo, etc - but throttle control is great!

Hi there!
100% you have to calibrate it.
I never bought that ESC, so I don't have a video on it. Sorry.
@RoadsideRC I mean in general, even parameters in this video, not all of them clear ))
Are you going to the track any time this week? I'd like to see if you could possibly help me set my car up correctly.
Also. I live in sparta so I'm right down the road..
There is a large group going to Cookeville Hobbies this Saturday.
It is tentatively on my calendar.
@RoadsideRC i plan on being there tomorrow Friday and Saturday. I need to practice lol
Do you have plans for the Traxxas drift car?
I *almost ordered one when they first came out. But honestly, with so many other good options coming out, my interest has diminished.

i have the justock 17.5t combo, works fine for the affordable price tag, anything else is too expensive

@@RoadsideRC thanks
In Germany you can bye the XD10 Pro for about 146€ and the D10 Motor for about 80€...
Nice! How do those prices compare to what you can buy this ESC and motor for?
@@RoadsideRC The XR10 pro g3 ESC is about 193€ and the Motor Xerun V10 Brushless Motor G4R 13.5T about 105€
@michaputzt4933 Interesting! That is a big difference!
Many people here have swapped out the xd10 for this.... I'm not one of them..
If I already had the XD10, I wouldn't change to get this ESC. No real benefit.
@RoadsideRC haha, that's pretty much what they all said too
