Yeah I would think removing yourself (the dasher) from a vendor looks much better than the vendor asking you never come back. Doordash can't look at a vendor banning someone as positive, he essentially gave SB concent to ban him from door dash entirely, by asking to be banned from the vendor, only. The steps he mentioned earlier being strange and random, were probably the only steps possible for that outcome. I hate Starbucks, and generally the crowd it attracts, but they have a right to, at least, ask you to leave. Vendor contract or not, they could rightfully have the police remove you. Like everyone else has stated, just pass on SB. I have my small blacklist as well

I disagree with your Starbucks assessment. Starbucks is not inviting you into their store, DoorDash is and you agree to go there. I believe the law is you need permission to record at a restaurant/private property. Every one may have an IPhone but are not walking around with it on their head recording. I believe the same applies to when you are delivering to a residence. I find it to be an invasion of privacy without first getting permission. I could imagine sitting in a nice restaurant and the person at the table next to you is recording everything, wouldn’t be pretty.

    • @rjbourgeois5490
      @rjbourgeois5490 Месяц назад +1

No, you don't need permission as long as the store is open to the public. They can trespass you from private property, but that's on them. 1st amendment is part of the supreme law of the land. He is correct here. You can record anything your eyes can see in public, including all stores open to said public.

@@rjbourgeois5490 you need permission to record on private property, you can be asked to leave and if you don’t can be arrested for trespassing. One way or another unless filming something for yourself and someone gets in the picture I believe it is very poor etiquette to walk around door dashing filming people to put on your RUclips channel to make money. Go to a restaurant and film the people sitting next to you eating, see how long it takes to get thrown out on the street and probably get your butt kicked.

Georgia is like Arkansas, one party consent for recording "in public places" but protections are in place for private locations. I believe businesses are considered private and have the law on their side as far as recording - on an order or not, the law probably would look at it as you willfully trespassed (if they were to trespass you) as there was no "imminent danger" to your person for turning down the order.
It is a legal mess and a very costly one to fight.

We have noticed on the other driver shows, they try to keep faces out of their videos. There are people on witness protection, women fleeing abusive husbands, etc. Maybe even one of these Starbucks employees have a story. When I worked in a nursing home, we were not allowed to take pictures of anyone without their permission. Asking for a restaurant to ban you
makes you look bad. Maybe just decline it?Maybe just not film there if they ask you not to? There are people that have reasons not to be filmed. Just becauae everyone has phones that doesn't mean we shouldn't suddenly stop respecting people and getting their permission to be seen by millions of people. Yes, it's a public place and you should be able to film yourself there, but getting people's faces, and that includes your customers, is a different story. As far as I know, the other driver channels keep people's faces out of their videos, unless they ask them if they mind being in their video. There used to be laws about recording people without their permission . I used to minister at a jail with a chaplain who used to be a bad dude, and he, legitimately, did not want to have public pictures of himself, because there were old acquaitances he didn't want to know where he was. Just wanted to get you to see this maybe from another point of view. But, we love you. Love your show. We have a son in Marietta. @@DashingAcrossAmerica chuck this lady said what I had tried to say a while back and then gave up because it’s your life and I don’t wanna argue with you obviously. But she stated all of the things that I thought I can’t remember which ones I actually bothered writing but all those scenarios including the reason they gave, which is minors that work there are really valid.
On top of that you could still take the orders and just leave your phone recording you walking into the store like other people do.
I’m not trying to tell you how to run your channel but unless Georgia is completely different from most places (I’m not sure in this regard which laws are federal versus state) your lawyer/Judge friend is 100% wrong. And if you don’t believe privately owned companies can ask anyone to leave at any time or just stop doing XYZ then 100% when somebody open the front door and you can see into their house and or their face, that’s not ok. They’ve given you permission to come deliver the items. Not everybody on RUclips.
And we know that you aren’t trying to hurt anyone but I’ve been really surprised at all the drama over this. you aren’t even forced to decline. You could simply like I said, leave the camera watching you walk into the store and take it from there when you get back in your car. I’ve been kind of surprised that as you actually put it this is the hill you’re willing to die on?
Also, I know what you mean by they punish you if you don’t accept and actually I guess if you were on earn by time that could technically be true if you had already declined once that hour. But I would just be way more worried about what they’re gonna say when they ban you. Getting banned from any place isn’t great for your record. Obviously, none of us have any idea how that DoorDash works behind the scenes and with the algorithms, but that’s precisely why I would be really concerned to be banned from a restaurant. I doubt there’s a button for them to press like Dasher requested. In addition they’re probably going to mention how they did politely ask you and you continued multiple times to go in there with the camera. I don’t know maybe just do some self reflecting, and ask yourself if this is really worth all this. Even if it gets more views, which because you are polite and a nice respectful guy, I doubt that situation is going to get you new subs. (not saying that you were thinking it was, but just if you are.) on the other hand I have seen numerous people comment lately about some of your indiscretions when it comes to people’s privacy. And so if anything It could lose you subs. I haven’t bothered commenting on these things lately, but since this lady did put everything in such clear terms with good explanation just one last time I’m gonna say is all that really worth it?
you have enough adventures that you could leave the camera in the car when people ask (and turn it away or down when you’re at someone’s door… and then you could talk about whatever they ordered as much as you want!) and you would still have basically the same videos. I would add that turning it down at the restaurant to is good practice, except that most of them are friendly and don’t seem to mind, so that’s another reason I just don’t get why this one place is such a big deal to just respect their wishes.
If the owner is just mad that you were critical of the place (which I haven’t really seen except for wait times but I definitely have not seen every single episode) which I kind of question because he could have banned you much earlier than you even asked. Some of the higher end stores try to stop you when you’re on the sidewalk just filming the outside of the store. And they definitely won’t let you film inside. Like in Beverly Hills stores, like Chanel, etc. I’ve seen police tell somebody who travels the country making videos (it’s weird like 90 something percent of people come out and ask what’s going on and why he’s filming blah blah blah and the occasional owner who is proud of his business, and happy to show and talk about the area let them in - a dude and his son, adult son- offers them a drink etc.) and when the cops are called, what happens frequently with this other channel I was talking about (I just happened to see it a couple times. I don’t even know what it’s called.) they always say yes you can film on the sidewalk. But just like not right in front of the store. And yes, some places worry the customers will not like to be filmed. Often because many have come in and said something about it. Some worry about theft and maybe somebody’s scouting out an area.

Sadly, the way they calculate the AR is very quick to drop but hard to make go back up.
If you decline/accept an order, the 100th oldest order falls off. The problem is when that 99th order is a decline, and you decline the latest. You are thinking, I will lose 1 point. No, you actually lose at least 2 points if the 100th back was an accept, the 99th was a decline, and you decline the newest. That leaves you going down 1 for the newest decline, losing 1 for the 100th order that dropped off.
The same in reverse works against us in improving our AR. If you have a series of declines in the 98th, 99th, and in the 100th place you had an accept and you accept the newest order. Your AR does not change because, technically, it hasn't.
That is how we end up losing so many points when declining one order but not going up when we accept.

Usually the privately owned and operated restaurants, not the franchise or corporate owned restaurants, show more appreciation for drivers. It's always the corporate owned restaurants that think they could boss people around. Look at the reviews on google maps for the kingsland Starbucks. They have had their fair share of negative reviews all about their customer service.
I have always had great experience with privately owned businesses, and those orders usually pay better and have better tips since they also have a higher quality customer base. Corporate owned franchises typically have lower quality customer bases who have no tip or little tip amounts. Losing / ignoring Starbucks is NOT a loss.

When I see the offer I just smile as a decline and proclaim to the air around me “$32 for 6 miles not today semenhorse” a play on restaurant name that accurately describes my disgust for the horrible people that own and operate that cramp dirty lead paint peeling near the outside tables crap basket they they consider a fine dining establishment.

The evidence that he was told to stop recording, and refused to do so, is in his video.

They don't because it would cause a lot of public outrage and likely hurt their bottom line.

These things never work out like the instigator thinks they will and it is the rest of us that have to deal with the consequences.

Who knows, next could be strict rules on filming like Walmart has - it is in the TOS for Spark, we will not film the pick up area, or in store (already a rule for customers in general) while doing a Spark shop and deliver. Next could be similar rules in the TOS for DD and wait till they go through and start deactivating drivers with channels showing them defying the rules (completely in their right to do it).
