- SPEED COMPARISON 3D: STAR WARS
This video took me a lot of time. Calculating the speed and distance traveled was easy, but building the scene was a bit difficult. In this video, we compared the fastest STAR WARS starships. We looked at atmospheric speed. MGLT and HCR It's a bit hard to understand, and the StarWars website itself says that it doesn't match our math and physics to calculate them. So, it's not clear what speed they are traveling in space. enjoy 😉

Props to the cameraman for travelling all the way to another galaxy to film and measure the speeds of these vehicles
😅
@@REDSIDEofficial or he got the info from Lucasfilm
Especially a galaxy so far, far away
I’m standing behind you Eric.
Lolzzz
Those speeder bikes go over 300mph??
Driving those through a dense forest is crazy impressive
There's no way the riders would be able to handle the drag while going at those speeds. It's probably just the maxium speed without a rider.
@@spacemiaou67impressive or meaningless
Yeah that kind of data kills the lore a bit….
@@helljester8097Hey nobody said they were going full speed
Even at 100mph with those scout helmets the rider wouldn’t be able to keep his head down.
Try riding a motorbike at 100mph and then lift your visor and you’ll realise very quickly that’s kind of impractical.
I was NOT expecting the Bespin Twin-Pod to be as fast as it was. Seems a bit overkill lol
If you've got a planet-wide mining operation going on, I'd want to get between the mining complexes in a reasonable amount of time.
The atmosphere of Bespin is really dense, it's basically overpowered to compensate for that
Equally surprised a lowsy tie can outpace a Scimitar.
Faster than an A-Wing? Insane.
Bespin is HUGE. It's a gas giant. Even that speed might not be fast enough.
The sound design...what a symphony. Amazing work!
true!
Indeed. I am glad that you are a Star Wars fan as well as an automobile fan.
TIE Bomber didn't have the Twin Ion Engine scream tho
@mreggs3731 Imagine if like the Stuka, that sound is just on the TIE to scare the enemies.
The fact that a Providence-class is capable of atmospheric supersonic flight is terrifying. Just imagine being a clone and hearing a sonic boom as a providence just laps a venator.
Nerd jk
I remember reading somejwere that that was a major tactic they used in the war.
They would chase down, broadside the enemy in a devastating barrage of torpedoes and canons, then high-tail it.
which ships are providence class?
@@ringadingding7667 the Invisible Hand is a Providence.
I want whatever the shipwrights were smoking. Wookiepedia also says it has a maximum acceleration of 2,500G.
its so weird that if you don't include hyperspace, we've made PLANES faster than these space craft.
I mean every fighter jet made after the 1970s was faster then every single one of these in earths atmosphere. I mean the slowed 5th gen (current era of fighters is over 1400mph and the f14 tomcat was able to go over 1500mph in 1974
this has to be 'on the deck' speeds, as every one of these ship can effortlessly SSTO, so they're all a lot faster in thinner air.
that being said some of these should be much faster low down, like the Nubian ships that are sleek enough that drag shouldn't be an issue.
edit: the only other explanation i can think of is that the main engines aren't effective in atmosphere, so all these speeds for the starships are on repulserlift only. which would then make sense that they could be outrun by dedicated atmospheric craft.
they're all basically operating in VTOL mode.
@@MarkoDash agreed
Ahhh but that's where context comes into paly: we have planes faster than these spacecraft..... *IN A STRAIGHT LINE* . These things are fast in and out of atmosphere, have superior weaponry, and have more maneuver options/fast is more directions and tigther turns since Inertia Dampeners say F-you to high G-forces
Star Wars has always been terrible with numbers.
Incredible on so many levels. Graphically, animation, composition, sound design, even just information level is unreal . 🎉
1:12 That Rebel Transport GR-75 looks like a flying sandwich 🤔
Incredible how you got all these pilots to fly at top speed without crashing into each other. You must've gotten the best pilots to do this
🤣🤣🤣
*Ето χ o χ л ы наступают, сегодня 29 апреля 2023 года будет contrнаступление BCУ'4ek.Кто победит?*
Also, the fact that both factions put aside their differences in the name of science and information!
11:49 I love how you put ‘speed of sound’ in there as a flyby
Even cooler than that, every ship after the speed of sound made a sonic boom (which is what would happen if they were to fly by you in real life). Fantastic attention to detail.
I was curious when the craft would start going hypersonic, and I was surprised the the Falcon and Star Destroyers for example weren't showing above mach 1. But I reckon what would have been cool would be for the vehicle sounds to go silent when the camera swept around 'in front' of the speed of sound. Then hear the noise after they have gone past. That would have been more realistic. At the end you simply wouldn't hear any of the mach 1+ vehicles coming, although they would be noisy after passing. Great video all the same!
At first I thought it was the WiFi symbol 😂
I’ve watched this around 4 or 5 times, and I still can’t get over the fact everyone came back to life and decided to race each other for the fastest vehicle, honestly that would be a great Star Wars crossover
Bro i love this, I love how you went to lengths to give us fly-bys and even give us the speed of sound. I was never thinking about that, and then give us accurate size comparisons? You've brilliantly built on what has come before and compiled something that deserves more likes than it has.
appreciate all the work put into this
I loved the thumb up by the Stormtrooper on the speederbike
Didnt Anakin fly the Naboo Starfighter from the surface to a battle in orbit? Gotta assume escape velocity is higher than 693mph on Naboo.
@@paulnolesI don't think any of these speeds are remotely correct but it was great to see them all fly together 👌🏼
It’s disappointing that the “fastest ship in the galaxy” (Millenium Falcon) is eight times slower than a rebel transport at light speed.
Hell yeah… amazing! 🎉 fantastic work!!!
This level of immersion for a comparison video isnt found anywhere else on the platform. Kudos!!
UNREAL Engine, just warming up. THE models, and landscapes, were relatively easy. Getting everything, to work together; That's the hard part.
I am beyond IMPRESSED! So well-done, very detailed and beautifully rendered. Hands down man.
Yo, this video is incredible. I can't even begin to understand what it must've taken to gather this data, and then sit down and program this. Amazing work.
Could you imagine the amount of wind those capital ships would generate just flying at a low distance at maximum speeds…. Like extremely destructive winds
O shqipe! I know but the scene was on its limits.

The Providence would be terrifying to see. Imagine a ship that big flying through a city at Sonic speed. Like the windows of the entire city would break and literally everybody in the whole city would be deaf
Ikr. The Star Destroyer also looks scary.
AYO WHADDA F*CK WAS THA- **everything explodes**
How did the CIS manage to build a ship that big which can also go to over 2 km per hour? They were genious
@@Christmas_Joe It was designed by the Quaren based on a stolen Mon Calamari design. More than likely it was as fast as it was because it was designed to semi-aquatic (like all Mon Cala Designs) and travel in the water so it's engines would be need to be unusually strong to compensate for drag the water creates.
Love this video idea. Side by side speeding, seeing the scale of things, changing environment, some humour, differing perspective. Damn so good.
I love the juxtaposition of fighters and starships flying over old-school sailing ships.
Can you imagine the reflexes needed to pilot those speeder bikes through the forests of Endor at 300mph
I imagine they don't go full speed. Like imagine going full speed with your car all the time in every situation.
It would be impossible.

@@TheGodParticle did u forget pod racer's it mite be possible.. but fun to watch them at least try
Remember in ROTJ Luke and Leia are force sensitive. All others died.
The moment that storm trooper gave a thumbs up put a smile immediately on my face. Even smallest details convey so much emotions. Amazing content and I look forward to see more in the future.
Ok i wasn't even looking at the ships hyper drive information, seeing every ship jumping to hyperspace both small and big.... man there is one of my favorite things in life hahahahahaha loved that part so much man, HOLY CRAP!!
What i like the most in these speed videos you do, is not only knowing the speeds and the ships names, but also seeing them flying in close formation, that is another thing i enjoy quite a lot, loved that in your aircraft speed, loved that even more in this Star Wars video.
I've never watched Star Wars other than a few movies here and there, so I had no idea how fast these vehicles are, but I've always imagined them to be extremely fast (at least inside planets with atmospheres and drag), I'm surprised to hear that these vehicles are slower than I expected, slower than many current military fighters arrive... For example the Naboo Royal Starship ( 2:24 ), it reminds a lot of an SR-71 but extremely improved and futuristic, but it doesn't even reach Mach 1 while the SR-71 goes up to Mach 3+
These are all shown flying relatively low, the air is much too dense to go any faster. The SR-71 wouldn't be able to even reach Mach 1 when it flies under 15000 feet.
@@spacemiaou67 In the video he does not specify what altitude the aircraft needs to be at for maximum speed, and if it is maximum speed then it is assumed that he is referring to the best situation for this speed.
I like to imagine that because it's Star Wars and it ignores physics most of the time anyways, their max atmospheric speeds probably also ignore altitude requirements and can be reached at both high and low altitudes. Shielding (for ships that have it) probably helps ignore air physics when maneuvering too.
The SR-71 Blackbird on the other hand NEEDS to be at certain altitudes to achieve its top speed which if nothing else gives Star Wars ships a versatility edge (even if it is due to BS). So in all areas except stealth, Starfighters outclass the Blackbird in usefulness. And if we only care about getting from point A to Point B, I would say the Blackbird wins under optimal conditions as long as the destination is on-world. The second the destination is off-world, not only can the Blackbird straight up not get there, but even if it could it suddenly has to compete with hyperdrives and you just ain't winning that one 😅
The fact you haven't watched all of the star wars stuff further proves how much of a ignoramus degenerate you are.
Many of those craft aren’t designed with atmospheric flight in mind. Before Disney, the largest imperial ship designed for atmospheric FLIGHT was the victory class, and also the venators could fly in atmosphere as they could land.
The providence class speed would seem incorrectly based on that one example of the INVISIBLE HANDS atmospheric “flight” down to the surface of coruscant haha
We have to remember, many of Thales ships are designed for SPACE, where there is no atmospheric air resistance, their structural framework, even with integrity fields, shields etc can only tolerate so much, where as earth planes are optimised for such flight
Imagine that giant dreadnought cruising just above the surface at over 1200 mph. The air turbulence alone would be insanely destructive. It would be worse than even the largest tornado.
Hey man, just a massive thanks to the effort you put into these! Throughly enjoy all your content!
God oh mighty this is 1 of the comparisons I’ve been waiting for 🎉❤ detail is just out of this world mate the sounds of them too spot on love it 👍🏻
This is just awesome. Beautifully made!
Dude that was an epic showcase. Came for the speed, stayed for the effort you put into this. Well done!
7:51 ok there is no way the Twin Pod could be that fast. I always saw it as 2 submarines attached together designed to fly safely and slowly through the dense clouds of Bespin lol
And that's the point. They move slow on Bespin because density. But if you put them in earth like atmosphere they can zip like crazy due to the lower air density
Yeah. As cool as the visuals are in this vid, that’s just one of the many examples of inaccurate information.
There’s no way the snow speeder has faster atmospheric speed than ships like slave 1, x wing, falcon, etc. also the pod racers are scaled up to a speed that is laughable.
There are fighter jets faster than that
@@ClaytonBigsby93 yeah no way a human child could withstand that speed in an open cockpit
@@ClaytonBigsby93 Oh don't worry, that 947 km/h speed is actually completely right. That is the canonical speed of Anakin's podracer, and it does track with what we see in the prequels. And yes, most of the starships are not much faster than transsonic in-atmosphere. As for the airspeeder, 1100 km/h IS the high end of its' speed that was used in the video, the low end is is 650 km/h.
Always fun to stumble upon a video where a few of my models are used. Great work with the video!
8:14 that was so badass!!!

I have my reservations about the sequel trilogy, but no doubt about it, Ben Swollo has a sweet ride.
i had no idea pod racers went THAT fast, damn.
Gives Qui-Gon Jinn words heavy weight, you must have Jedi reflexes
I mean we can make cars right now that reach 1000 kph (the veyron) and this is a lose bucket hanging of advanced jet engines, im surprised it doesnt go much faster than that even, this is one of those landspeed record type of vehicles but then even more extreme.
play Star Wars race, Nintendo 64
Shows how great of a pilot the chosen one was!
they are like real fighter jet engines so im not surprised.
I would have thought the Falcon was much quicker than X-wings.
I also love that stormtroopers are piloting the ships. That’s what I’m here for!
She’s the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy

Maybe referring to hyperdrive and piloting skills
@@econ347Yeah, it's specifically the Class 0.5 Hyperdrive.
That thing allowed the Falcon to outrun just about everything in the galaxy when it jumped into hyperspace.
Nothing could ever keep up.
The Falcon's atmospheric and sublight speed is the same as an X-Wing's, but it's hyperdrive is twice as good. "She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
it should be in the top 5 imo
Eerie, captivating, and beautiful. Well done.
I'm sure this took a long time to produce, so props to you on the awesome work!
Lol I love how the speed difference in a lot of these must have been important to chase scenes so that a ship could just about get away or just about be caught, making clusters of ships with near-identical speeds :P
Spotted it before on a list of the ship speeds but seeing it like this is awesome! Thanks for all your hard work, mate!
Man these graphics are crazy for a comparison video....appreciate the hard work behind all this👍🏻👍🏻
I like how you show the speed and then each space craft at hyper speed! Cool stuff
Hats off to the Bespin Twin-Pods...like a sleeper station wagon that is actually a Mustang killer, lol.
Wow surprising to see that these ships aren’t really that fast as expected
they are slower in plantery atmosphere and gravity buy yeah :p
Realistically, a lot of them don't even have the aerodynamics to go as fast as listed. but it's Star Wars so we don't worry about physics because that's for nerds.
@@PRC533 and also they use their FTL drives to travel everywhere
@@PRC533 exactly. This is space opera, not science fiction 😊
"-aren't really that fast-"
Said as the buildings laid down for speed and size perspective rip by.
I really love this work put into the video. My only critique of it is that standard TIE fighters are rarely fitted with hyperdrives. They're ship to ship battalion fighters and though the New Order TIEs sometimes had them installed, most of the Empiric TIEs did not. Even Obi-Wan corrected Luke's assertion that a TIE fighter "must've followed them from Tattooine," when he says "It's a short range fighter. A fighter that size couldn't have gotten out here by itself..."
So while it's certainly possible and it's noted that there were a few times where TIEs were retrofitted with hyperdrives, it was certainly very VERY rare.
The only time the empire had TIEs with hyperdrives was the TIE Advanced (Atleast, it existed in legends, pre disney) that was fitted with a hyperdrive and shield generator
That wasn't hyperdrive, it was megalight. It's the sublight speeds they travel in space.
@@MrClauws The TIE Defender had a hyperdrive
@@TechnoMinarchistBallso did Imperial Guard TIE Interceptors
The main reason most TIEs don't is to make them dependant on a carrier and so they can't just go awol of they wish
Granted most TIEs also don't have the ability to land normally anyways so there is that

I was wondering if these were speeds in atmosphere, because a lot of it wouldn't make sense if it was in space. The description confirmed that, even if it's not said which atmosphere this is exactly. But some of the speeds are still quite hard to believe. The animation is very nicely done, however.

One suggestion :
Dont let similar speed vehicles come from behind and join another same speed vehicle, It kills the illusion of reality, Because a vehicle needs to be faster to catch up to another vehicle.
U can Bring Similar speed vehicles from any Side (Outside the frame) beside current vehicle

I absolutely love videos like this! Question: are all the speeds canon or rough estimates? Or a bit of both?
Those are the listed atomspheric speeds, though tbh some of them seem low for ships that can reach escape velocity. With shields active those with shields are hyupersonic, the ARC 170 for instance is listed at 44,000 KPH.
