  • While I took the giant leap of faith in order to follow my career goals, I'm realizing that I'm getting worse at enjoying life. I now spend so much time working on the job that I love so much, that I'm forgetting to slow down and actually enjoy the other parts of life. So today I got on my Husqvarna 701 Enduro, pressed record, and started talking!

A few years ago my wife said to me "you know baby, ive watched you turn your frown upside down every time you get on your bike. Can i do it too?" so i bought her a pink honda grom 🤣 Anyway she loved it and we rode around town together a lot but last year to celebrate being married for 20 years we bought two mt07s and we are living tbe best life. Weve trsvelled 30 000kms (we Aussies so yes kms) in just over a year. Camping. Seeing our beautiful country. Visiting friends and family and as with riding, everything in between. Its enhanced our life so much.

Still have no idea where life will take me even in 1 month from now, but I atleast have something to look forward too that doesn’t rely on anybody else. Pride, fun, adventure, making new friends, bikes are such an easy way to enrich your life!

Thank you SO much for this pleasant, perfectly lovely road and ride this morning. I'm leaving on one with a buddy today it'll be great. I too have been feeling down in the dumps lately and this hit home, it's straightened out some feelings I've been having. Life is hard (though retirement is great) and riding has been a savior for me at this time. These are strange and lonely times, and no matter how things get, a ride brings me back to my basic self. Enough said. Thanks again!

I'm really, really glad it helped, and also glad to hear I'm not alone! I think realizing that everyone has difficult times, regardless of where they're at in life, can be a really big help. I'm not sure what it is about being outside, especially on a bike, but it always "grounds" me too. Focus on the good, ignore the bad, & put on some miles my friend!!!

Enjoyed the ride along… I’ve collected a few components for my DR that I need to install (seat, tank, tires, and windshield). Kinda stalled out on my garage revamp cause it so hot here. Took some time off with my riding partner to drive to Texas to pick up a 1998 Honda XR400R he purchased

@@SwankyCatProductions Yeah, we traded bikes for the first time a couple weeks ago, riding on dirt/gravel roads near his place in Oglethorpe county. I wanted him to experience the DR, gather an impression before I make these changes. He did not disappoint, said the stock seat was awful, could not stand it much longer ; ) My DR already has the pumper, so my impression/comparison to his XR650 throttle response, DR response is better… I think he was impressed with it too cause we discussed that mod for the XR400 on the way back from Texas ; )

I watch trail riding videos all day, when I get the opportunity. So yeah, I think you should.
As far as the samurai thing, I think it’s a good idea. I have always had a 4x4 toy, in addition to my 4x4 daily driver. And depending on how far I actually take the project, I could usually recoup most of my money back if I decided to sell it. For ex, I have a ‘90 model YJ that I bought for $3k and I dumped about $4k into it and I get offers of 10k for it all the time. I don’t know much about the Samurai, a buddy had one for a while, but he sold it to buy an old Jeep. I already have plans for my next build, a TJ Unlimited.

Nice! I've had a 4x4 truck since I almost lost my license with an 87 Firebird (🤣) but never invested in a Jeep. Always really wanted one, but the fact that the mini rigs I'm looking at can also go on the ATV trails just makes them hard to turn down! I'll still have a jeep someday though!

@@SwankyCatProductions the only reason I like Jeeps is due to the aftermarket parts availability. There is nothing, that I know of that compares to the long arm suspension kits that offer an insanely amount of articulation. If I were you though, I would probably be considering plating a side by side. The state that Live in doesn’t offer DOT license plates for UTVs, but obviously there is a loophole because about six of my buddies all have registered and plated side by sides. Just a thought.

Very easy to get lost in the "work" and forget what got you to where you're at. ESPECIALLY when you start getting into the analytics. Before you know it, every waking moment is numbers and what makes this do that and what makes that do this. Remember you didn't start this as a career and it was that guy that built what you had to a point you could quit your job and "spend more time with your family". while there is a much bigger sense of responsibility that comes with making the decision to make this your main income stream, it does NOT mean that you have to change your angle of approach. As you well know, you will never please everybody 100% of the time and that includes the algorithm gods. Bro, just keep being you, take a step back for a minute and go watch some of those earlier videos every once in a while if you need to and get that reminder. ALWAYS FAMILY FIRST and I realize that's what you're trying to do but don't ever think the work is what that means. They will always need you more than anything money will ever give them. I didn't learn that till my family was gone. Had the house and the cars and the travel ball and all the "stuff of life" but to give it to them I didn't give them me. Fancy videos didn't get you where you're at. Giving your fans you is what got you where you're at. The love of what you were doing created fans. Lose the love, lose the fans. Keep up the good work but don't let the work define you!
