Great video. I was lucky since I had this same kind of power up problem with the LHT764 and I was looking for ideas to possibly repair it because the unit was donated to the thrift store I volunteer at. I took a chance and bought a pack of five caps for $6 and just shot gunned the same one figuring it might work. Even with my fat fingers, discrete components aren't too hard to work with. Lo and behold, power! And the disk changer works and plays too. It will go on sale tomorrow in the store. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
I am a retired repair Technician. I'll have to say that Norcal is very good. I would also say that I would have never have tried to repair this unit. They just aren't worth the time and trouble it takes to fix one. Plus you never know if you can get the part even if you find the problem. Last most customers never want to spend much money on them.
From my experience from working on VCR's back in the day, that belt looked way too loose and worn. Probably should of replaced it with a little smaller one or a rubberband lol. Good video bro! Thanks for this one.
@@aleksandarjakimov6830 Thank U sir. Been watching Norcal Vids way before I even started my RUclips Channel lol. Hes also a great teacher, helped me fix quite a few tvs back in the day.
Recently I pulled out LG 50LA660s out of recycling. I have never seen so many screws in a modern TV, unfortunately it seams that the main board is gone. I will try to reflow some components but most probably it will go back to recycling.
good video i have this power supply but the faulty is in power supply help me what is the total voltage on the two series capacitor and the 47uf capacitor that 47uf 450volts
Would it be possible please to show in a future video how to remove components with just wick or the solder sucker as I cannot free the component legs 100% from the pcb or is that why you use the machine.... Do always use 60/40 solder...Geoff
@@norcal715 Hi thank you for the reply the SMPS number on the board is DM 5520SMPS 1.30.9 DM562005RR and the main board isDM5620 MAIN VER:1.3 1.30.1.DM562004RR hope that helps
Nice trouble shooting Steve. It's sad you put all this effort into the repair to have a defective DVD player. Maybe it's just my experience, but I haven't been too impressed with LG products. My brother in-law bought a new LG OLED TV for their Florida winter home, and I'm not impressed with it.
Thats some nice detective work you did there finding that dodgy cap.
