Dude I had the same problem with my unit after not using it for awhile Funny thing is once I opened it up and spin the fan it stated working again, thank you for being so knowledgeable and detailed with the information.
Ditto! Thanks a million for mentioning this. I noticed that the wires were loose thus I seated them more firmly. Gave the fan a few whirls (minus power). Plugged in and off she went!
Another great walk through, thanks for posting. Good tip on being mindful that the caps can still have a charge even if the device appears to not be working.
Love your desoldering tool !!!!!!! Check all capacitors for High ESR too. Well done Sir.My sentiments exactly. Lets keep E waste bins to a minimum wherever possible.
Help please, pins # 5 & #6 of STRX6729 they have continuity when are conectes at the board? Thanks! Ayuda, pin #5 y #6 del STRX6729 tienen continuidad cuando esta conectado a la placa? Gracias!
Easy fix: I unscrewed the power supply controller IC (without desoldering) then wiggled it around and screwed it back into the heat sink and it powered on just fine after that. He unscrews the black component at 7:55 in case your wondering what it looks like. Perhaps I just got stupid lucky, but I'd recommend giving this a shot before unscrewing any more boards as you can access this piece as soon as you slide the cover off. I did also give the fan a couple turns as well as before trying this another comment recommended it.
Yep a fan can do a few things in ........ A friend called me about a desk top PC, he said the screen said CPU is too hot , so he let it cool down and nada.... I told him if he a spare tower that had the same fan in it , he could use that and he would have it up and running ..... He called me back later on and said it worked just fine.........BTW I just joined your team Mon Ami .............

need help... any ideas might be of help... i have an older jvc mx j900 stereo.. i moved the other day, opened the back door to truck and stereo fell to the ground and now it won't turn on it landed on the top left corner , i have taken it apart and see nothing cracked or unplugged .all looks normal.
just started to look at uk version of same machine sa-pt570 uses a STR-X6768 same fault, that cap in the uk has 320v on it will kill you. so sharp intake of breath here when you touched it. Will try to change chip, definitely not starting to oscillate as Vcc only 10v so only from bootstrap. Only thing found so far was C5726 10mf 50v cap bottom blown out (vcc to s).
I have the Panasonic SA-PT650 and I hooked up a after market sub, i can hear sound from the actual speakers but nothing from the sub. Any clue what that could be?
I have also a no power, verrrry slow starting philips htc 7200/12 player set, and there are a lot of rare noises, when i power on, the touch device is on than off, blinking.. And after 2 minutes there is more power on, and backlicht also on. Now i wil know looking whats the problem, and i think its the same as you show, good video..
I have a sa-bt100 it is getting no power no on lights and not making any clicks or noises . I have tried multiple power cords to see if they were bad but not working still . What should I do next
Hi, I have the SA-PT470 and it does the same two clicks than yours do, will check it later but it's probably using the same STR-X6729 controller, did you get any weird measurements in diode function on that component? Thanks from Medellín Colombia.
Thanks for the video! I'm positive this will work (have the 2 clicks w/no power and no fan + it does power on sometimes but then gets warm after watching a film and then shuts off after mere minutes. Was running on wrong voltage, 110v, when it should've been running on 220v. Power controller probably damaged now). Does the SK number matter? Code on power controller is as follows: STR X6768 (SK 9526N). KSA/Middle Eastern version SA PT-875.
What if i cant switch to aux or dvd with remote or manually it only changes to radio staions volume up n down it was working fine yesterday ..what could it be if u could help me out would really apreciate it
You can do a basic check if you can get an internal view, Usually if you google the part number you can find it. At least you can check diode junctions and some resistor values that way.
I am having the exact same issue with mine. However it still does the same thing after I replace the 6729 chip. However, when I check two of the 33k resistors like you did I only get 31.86. The 22k and the 33k next to it have good readings but those other two are low. Could that be the issue? Do I need to replace those? Where do I purchase them or is it not worth it?
I have Panasonic SA-PT870 with the same issue, after plugged into 240V socket with voltage switch as 110V (yes, this is a dual voltage version). It worked for a while after my mistake and now it is dead with this two relay clicks. I replaced STR-X6729, but it still has no power. I took the board out and checked the rest of diodes, transistors and caps and so on, all seems just fine, but the STR-6729 is simply not oscillating!! Vcc is only at 8V after I took the board out and shorted the relay contacts. The 10uf/50V cap is also fine. I am running out of idea on how to isolate the issues. Any ideas on what else I should look for will be greatly appreciated.
Hai.. My panasonic sa pt980 model home theatre are not audio output problem. Power on running successfully. But play song audio output was not coming.. Ask to service center he says audio board was problem u can change the board issue was solved. They are costly... Any solution?
I have this same unit and same exact issue with the two clicks and no power. Should I assume it's most likely the same issue or is there a high probability it's something else also? Don't want to waste my time trying to fix it if it could be a number of things.
It does look a bit brown on top. If it looks bad, and measures high ESR (or is open) - I'd recommend replacing it. I can't tell if it's a peaking coil or a cap from this angle. A close-up view would show more clearly.
@@norcal715 Why would there be paint on top of a capacitor? I understand sometimes the factory mark them with a blue, green or red felt pen but brown paint looks a bit unusual - especially on one cap.

Interesting and excellent repair! Thanks
Do the high-value resistors, when opened, prevent bleeding the charge capacitors; then the unit only power's every 3 days or a long time after?

Look in the owners manual for a factory reset procedure. Try that first. Is should restore it to like new out of the box condition.
How you rectify STR IC is faulty without checking values in multimeter
