With the scans, where did you put the tracking dots on the block to get such a nice scan? I have one of these scanners but am struggling to get it to be as effective as in this demo.
markers should be placed in areas that are flat, too symmetrical, or just areas that you find are generally hard to maintain tracking. make sure you adjust the light as conditions change and your scan settings are set high of course.
@@umax2639 thank you for the reply! So I am currently trying to scan a small fitting that is stainless steel, I didn't have powder on hand so I spray painted it white. It's pretty small so markers don't fit on it super well but I have a circle of markers around the object. For some reason the scanner will not detect it at all, but if I put another object inside the circle it's detected fine. What would you recommend?
@@TyborYT for small objects i would use the fixed scan mode, the handheld mode is not very suited for very small objects. but you could making it work but including your small objects in a big scan. make sure whatever paint you used is matte, super glossy coatings might be too reflective. dry shampoo spray works well if you dont have the real stuff on hand.
I have one of these scanners, and it doesn't perform anything like as well as this. We have to plaster the objects with targets to stand any chance of getting a scan because the texture scans just lose tracking the whole time. It's completely frustrating, especially when I see these demos that look so slick and easy.
Im relieved someone else is having the same issues as I am, I have tried to go just about everything to get the scans to work. Still to no avail. Some objects scan easily but the objects we really need to scan are giving too many issues. It is very frustrating seeing how easily the engine block scans, while when I try and scan an oil pan covered in markers I cannot get a good scan.
@@TyborYT it's very frustrating, isn't it? The demos (real and RUclips) sold it to us, but once the money was paid and the boxes had dropped on our doorstep, the vendor was gone! I think we got in a bit too early. This likely will be a good product - just not yet, outside of a carefully staged demo.
@@TyborYT I'm still battling with our Pro HD to get a useful result. 3 months in - nothing we can really use. I should lose my job really, because I bigged it up and it's a total freakin' PoS! Fortunately, I'm the boss, so my errors don't count. It loses tracking the whole time, and we're reduced to smothering big areas of the object with targets. When I say smother, we're talking no more than 2" apart - normally less. On a large item this can be several hours work. When you see someone scan an engine block in 5 minutes, you want to throw the thing out of the window! Fair to say, this purchase has made me miserable beyond belief. I continue to devote a few hours a day to it, but I know in my heart of hearts, I've been ripped off.
Hey there, i would recommend using hybrid tracking, or even consider using markers if your object does not have alot of unique features! I have used alot of scanners since this video, and i can still say the HD has very solid tracking when used correctly. Good luck!

which scanner is better for scanning woodcarving pro hd or hx.
The HD should do just as well in that application. The feature based tracking will work very nicely.

We have the Pro for scanning woodcarvings. Not good. Try the cheaper one - you may have more luck.
