I'm 21 and all I do is sit in a chair in front of my pc the whole day. I really hope to work physically starting now so that I can be like you in my future. Thank you for the inspiration.
You can do it!! Check the Kaizen method, and eat lots of healthy, natural stuff and start with easy walks in healthy sunbathes. Don't worry too much about reducing junk food, just focus eating the salads and fruits slowly before other foods, and try to put a 1min gap in between if it stays hard. Even if you don't see a difference at start, the healthy food will start to clean up your system, and things will get easier and easier a few months later. Walks in the sun and Tai Chi also help a lot. After those basics in a few months, when you feel better with basic stamina from sun and walking, you can start integrating basic aerobics, small fast gaps in your day to teach the body to metabolize fat and at anything below 120kg you can get your first rollerblade and start the basic rolling! Be sure to use protective gear. I was so sedentary I'd panick from slow walking (really). Now I can roll up to like 25km in 3h with quick rests in between. May sound weak but it'd take a consistent 8,3km/h walk for 3h. You can do it!!
If you feel bad, do a blood or spine exam or check with your doctor and don't worry about gains, but consistence and not pushing too hard on cardios if you feel bad. If stamina refuses rising, might be lacking chill hours, sun or sleeping early and enough. If you're new to exercises, I recommend not doing them alone to avoid injury and severe exhaustion (indeed not fun stuff).
Thanks for sharing your journey, man! Turned 41 this year, and got back on skates for the first time since I was 18. Muscle memory is still there, the muscles aren't, but I have been loving every second. Keep it up!
Hi! I'm in the exact same situation you describe. Already came out rolling a couple times. Has been exciting and terrifying at the same time. Some regret about drop skating for so long. Good luck!
I can relate man, was rocking my Roces Sea Seattle daily March - October for like 10 years, but they broke and my back broke not that far after. I´m starting again after 12 year, 37 now. We´re getting back on the roads!
As a 45 year old that just started getting back into skating after 20+ years this was really inspirational. I’m also super jealous of those amazing trails. I couldn’t find 40 miles of contiguous skateable roads in my area, never mind perfectly paved nature trails!
I have always been pretty active, roller skated my entire childhood until I left for the military in 1989. At 54, I just picked up inline skating after watching all of you inline skaters who put your videos on RUclips/TikTok. I am used to doing my cardio in a gym but wanted to move that outside with something fun. It is exponentially more difficult to learn something like this at an older age, but I am trying to persevere.
2 Years ago when I was 20 you motivated me to get into skating because it looked so cool to cruise in skates. 2 Years later still at it an getting some new skates! Not sure why you stopped uploading but love you man
"Then I get to play Zelda..." what a legend haha. Well done on hitting your goal. Just coming back from injury myself and feeling motivated to work up to something similar after seeing this.
Nice Video as always. I skate 40 miles on the lake called Bodensee, which corresponds to the entire north shore, but I make two to three swimming stops on the distance. Last year I did it 10 times. That improved my stamina enormously. I use a CadoMotus 4x100 frames and MPC wheels for this. The frame is light but my FR1's are not. I did it once with 4x90, but that didn't convince me, too much efford to keep speed.
That's great, sounds an awesome route you have there and the swimming is good cross training. I should do more cross training, but I just love skating so much. I was surprised to find my carbon FR SL are the same weight as my FR1 Deluxe Intuition boots. I thought carbon would be lighter.
Nice! I’m 32 and just getting back into skating. In high school I did a lot of distance skating growing up in rural MN. Now I live in the Fort Collins Co area so going to try out more urban skating
When I switched from 110 to 125 I didn't expect much of a difference but boy oh boy, it made long distance sessions so much better. It's like leveling up, now doing 50km feels easy and I'm working toward 100km. Try it, it's day and night, now I'm certain that 125 is the only way for the long distance, anything else is just making it hard for yourself, good luck and congrats with the milestone👍.
I’ve got some 3x125 frames arriving in two days! I’ve been wanting to try it forever. Finally saw some cheap used frames and decided to grab them to satisfy my curiosity. I just realized I need to buy wheels so I probably wont get to try them on Tuesday, lol. Thanks for watching!
Yes, I think having a dedicated speed/distance skate setup would help a lot since they are lighter and are more efficient, and doing a marathon as a goal would be better. Great accomplishment doing 40 on your current setup! And congrats on turning 40! Looking forward to seeing you do this when you turn 50! 8^) Just be careful with speed boot setup. They tend to be super tight and can cause foot problems like plantar fasciatis or Morton's Neuroma. Make sure you get custom fitted boots. All the best to you.
Happy 40th! I stumbled upon your incredible video and can't stop devouring your content since. After a hiatus of more than two decades, I'm diving back into the world of skating at 42. Currently, I'm focused on mastering speed control and backward skating as you demonstrate in your videos. You make them look so easy! Your soul slide tutorials have become my go-to practice sessions every single day. Would you kindly share any tips or advice on honing my backward skating skills?
this video is just awesome!! the music the framing the explanations and the good humor make it something unique! keep it up, and ty for this content, I appreciate it from Paris france :)
Hugs from Brazil! Marathoning the channel's videos, here, haha! I almost achieved the dream of buying my first roller skates last year but unfortunately I had to spend the money I saved on something else (and it's ok my mom is healed now that's all that matters❤️) now I'm saving money again and if everything works well, I'll have my Revolt (from traxart) in my hands by the end of this year!❤️
thats awesome, well done. cool video as well. last year I did 53 miles trip in one day (with breaks for meal, but was pushing hard when riding) - it was awesome. My dream is to make 100km trip, but not sure if I will be able to make it this summer.
I did 100km last summer by 35C, in 9,5 hours (Seba FR1 / 3X100 wheels). Not impossible at all for my 38 summers. I did 60km too with 24km/h average speed. Greetings from France 🤙
Nice, im 49 and have done 40 miles a few times, but usually do about 20 or 30 a cpl times a week. I love getting in the zone! Im on 80s, but really want to get 100s for a more comfortable ride. Nice video!
Really cool video! I used to bike to work along that trail from Manayunk to Valley Forge, was very pleasant. Recently picked up inline skating again and hoping to get up to a marathon in the next year :). Keep it up!
Congratulations! Awesome accomplishment. I bet you would easily be able to train for and complete the 88-mile Athens to Atlanta race with the proper setup! I am training for the Northshore marathon in Minnesota next year.
Well done! Congrats on the b-day, the effort, and nailing it! As always thanks for the awesome documentary style on the whole thing! Not to brag but I did go for a 2 mile skate after watching this video, so...watch out?
Congratulations! I've recently got back on the skates after a few years off, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm thinking of entering the Berlin marathon next year with the aim of sub 2 hours. Should be achievable. I can average 13 mph on 4 by 80mm wheels, so with a proper setup and training, I might be pleasantly surprised. Look forward to watching the next one.
Thanks and good luck with marathon training! It seems like the Berlin marathon is THE marathon to do for inline skating. Not very practical for me since I live in the US, but I'd love to do that one for sure.
Thanks for the response. I've entered and can't wait for the race now. I'm now rolling on the seba trix 310 and have recently ordered the endless 110's. Your videos really inspired me to keep skating despite the wet winters here in England. Hope everything is OK with you and you're still rolling even if you're not uploading.
We're roughly the same age and fitness level, whereas I primarily do distance/trail skates. I think you'll see the biggest improvement from developing your double push. Theoretically, imagine the double push gives you a 10% efficiency bonus. That 10% efficiency could mean keeping the same pace at a lower HR zone, or going 10% faster for the same effort. A lighter speed frame might help shave 100-200g but I don't think it's that big of a deal if you're not doing monster distance sessions. Same goes for boot. As you already have a carbon boot, you really wouldn't save much weight unless you went to a proper speed skate boot which has a bunch of technique, strength and skill requirements that may not be worth it if you aren't racing. I have the FR SL Speeds and I think they're mostly a gimmick in the sense that the speed gains are much smaller than the hype surrounding semi race boots. The lightness of carbon is nice, but stride wise it doesn't really offer much difference between my urban boots. The drawback is much less stability: way less confidence in busting out slides, and your shins and back get tired quicker when you roll on rough surfaces. If I could choose again, I'd go for a boot with a cuff for that added lateral support. This is backed up by Victor Thorup's fitness skate vs speed skate comparison (ruclips.net/video/n1X-g9DDkXo/видео.html) where he manages to average 32.5km/h in 3x110 Zetrablades. He concludes that he'd shave at least 5 mins off his marathon time in speed skates, but it's worth noting his speed setup was using bigger 3x125 wheels.
@@Flyzguy Based on his observations, I don't see much point in a speed boot unless you want to compete or are already a speedskater. If just rec/fitness or marathoning to beat your own times, I would personally sacrifice that small speed advantage for comfort and stability.
Just put some skates back on after a very long time off them and I’d love to have long 😊Arya like this near me to go and skate, both alone and with the kids but the best a 2km loop of. Local park. It still works though
Congratulations for your birthday and your effort! I'll be 41 this year too, but things would be easier for me because we use the metric system here and I'd have to skate only 41 kilometers! 😝
i just started rollerblading. 33 years of age. fell down 3 times in the parking lot. used the palms of my hands to break my falls. i fell back all three times. my palms hurt.
i'm 18 now and i've been familiar with skating since i was around 4-6 but i never took it srsly just went for maybe a party or just to go randomly as a surprise. I've always enjoyed it though it's nice and it's very relaxing. i just bought some Speed Skates from story the Story max inline speed skates it'll be my first pair of skates not here for tricks rn i want it for cardio and to be able to get familiar with the skates enough to actually even get boots and a pair. I will update yall on how the speed skates are in like a year or sumn if i remember
well done! It was an interesting upload... Very weird that you mentioned a "proper speed skate" set-up.....I have just bought a speed skate set-up (4x110mm, carbon shoe, no cuff at all). I've only used them twice - I need stronger ankles to feel safe uisng them. Now i know how ladies feel wearing high heels, very wobbly!
with those kinds of skates how easy is it to actually skate on bad roads as I have only ever used skating for tricks and never done actul skating with specific skates?
The first part of this video is literally where I skate currently, is that setup you have good for this surface? I was hoping for something smoother than my 76/80 mission hockey skates.
You prefer taking your backpack on and off and open and closing a Nalgene rather than a bladder/hose/nozzle system, e.g., Camelbak, where you can hydrate whenever?
No I don’t, lol. This is just the Nalgene I drink from all day and take everywhere. A hydration pack or vest would be better for hydrating when I don’t want to stop. But I typically am not distance skating so I don’t mind stopping to drink especially since the backpack can fit more than just the water. I often have a pair of shoes in the backpack as well, for example. I’ve been meaning to look into a new hydration vest, actually. I have a Nathan one from when I ran a marathon, but that doesn’t fit much more than the bladder when it’s full. Might you have any recommendations? Or maybe I could just get a smaller bladder for my vest 🤔
@@rerollinginline I don't usually take shoes with me (because I do more like 2 miles out and back rather than 20 miles 😂), but it's a good idea, no doubt. Walmart's "Outdoor Products" or "Ozark Trail" lines of backpacks have some good ones large enough for shoes that also include a hydration bladder pocket, hose hole, and bladder (of differing sizes). I once fell snowboarding and landed on my back on a rigid water bottle in my backpack which hurt like hell. Never again for me!
I've only been skating for a year, but from the intensive search and discoveries I made on the internet and talking to other skaters, you made a number of mistakes. My suggestions for the future: 1. Your helmet (dome type) good for the skate park. Bad for speed skating / long distance. Look for cycling helmets with good ventilation. Preferably in white color - it absorbs less heat from the sun. 2. Your clothes should be tighter. Tight to the body. Loose clothes flying like a flag cause a loss of speed/energy in speed skating. 3. Heavy skate frames - Endless is too heavy to speed skate. 4. Too soft wheels. Soft wheels give comfort on bad surfaces, but lower speed and energy loss. I use Hard Powerslide Spinners 110mm 88A and the difference is huge. Such wheels give you better speed and you have to put less energy into maintaining high speed. I read that the Undercover Team 125mm 88A are also very good. In general, for long distances, it is worth investing in a lightweight 3x125 frame. 5. Before such a distance, I must do full cleaning / lubrication of bearings with good oil. I recommend that too. What oil do you use for the bearings? The type of oil is also important. I just want to help. In fact, I have achieved a lot on roller skates thanks to your videos. I saw them a year ago. You gave me motivation. Today, rollerblading is my favorite passion. I ride freeride, I take part in competitions. That is why today I am sharing my knowledge and I hope that at least one of these tips will be helpful.
16 miles an hour, great pace. 125mm wheels will be a very small amount faster. Technique wise you look quite good. Double push takes time to learn but is worth it for sprints and fast distance. Aim for Speed skating form/technique for cutting through the headwind better, also that teaches more efficient movement.
Most of my skating is during lunch break. I'm a software engineer who works remotely, so I can usually get a 40 minute skate in during the day. I try to skate every day, if weather and schedule allows. I do longer skates on the weekends or outside work hours.
I'm 21 and all I do is sit in a chair in front of my pc the whole day. I really hope to work physically starting now so that I can be like you in my future. Thank you for the inspiration.

i just bought some
Speed Skates from story
the Story max inline speed skates
it'll be my first pair of skates
not here for tricks rn i want it for cardio and to be able to get familiar with the skates enough to actually even get boots and a pair.
How did you break your collarbone? Glad to see you on the mend and rollin' again!
Inline skating reminds me of road cycling out of saddle.
Please come back
Is there a inline skate shop in that area ?
Great video! What camera setup do you use?
Your pace times are really good. Just sign up for Duluth. You wont regret it.
with those kinds of skates how easy is it to actually skate on bad roads as I have only ever used skating for tricks and never done actul skating with specific skates?
Can't go wrong with Tom Petty backing track.
Where are you?????
Curious, how did he break his collarbone? Was it from rollerblade in the streets?
what was your primary reason for choosing Endless 3x110 versus your Endless Arc frames? distance/speed?
good jod. kudos you didnt cheat using the km
No knee protection is a big no no in roller blades. An accident injuring the knees can have life long complications.
I've only been skating for a year, but from the intensive search and discoveries I made on the internet and talking to other skaters, you made a number of mistakes. My suggestions for the future:
How’s the Fr sl vs speed? Do you have the same sizes for both?
Congrats on the 40 ! What did you think about the new wheels btw ?
Thanks! They're good wheels, especially at the price. I'll be doing a video on Endless wheels soon.
How do you stop
How big are your lower back muscles 😅
Что за камера?
Hello,
Are you skating 6 times per week? What is the duration of your session? Do you have a desk job?
Thank you.
Most of my skating is during lunch break. I'm a software engineer who works remotely, so I can usually get a 40 minute skate in during the day. I try to skate every day, if weather and schedule allows. I do longer skates on the weekends or outside work hours.
I also like to rollerblade and videotape it.
Hello
If Bro wouldent have to concentrade while skating He would smile
