Nice job! Monteverdi was a swiss car manufacture in the 1970's and 80's. He built only 2 monteverdi hai." Hai " is the german word for shark. All the best from switzerland
Another great job, Rob. Appreciate you sharing your struggles (with the paint) and your ultimate success! I also noticed how well that caustic soda removed the ‘white crud’ under the bonnet...useful information!
Good luck with yours. I have one as well. Purchased it already paint stripped and taken apart, although it is missing its wheels and axles. Repro wheels are available, and I have to make some new axles. Probably use some small nails for the axles. I'm not sure what colour mine was. There is a green 2 tone and silver 2 tone version as well as the purple.
"I'm not sure where Matchbox came up with this orange,um, but we're going to change that today." Sounds good to me! I had to look this up as well. The body shape has some familiar lines; it turns out that Hai is German for shark. Your restoration is worthy of the HP!
The best thing about Monteverdi is that it was another of the many car companies that were founded as a direct consequence of someone having a fight with Enzo Ferrari. (Other examples include basically every '60s Italian sports car company that wasn't Alfa Romeo or Lancia, including most notably Lamborghini. :)
That's a neat colour. Blends well with the blue windscreen. Ever thought of painting the inside of the doors the same colour as the rest of the interior, like the actual car? I think that would be a nice touch as well. On another note, your kids are very fortunate to have an in-house repair facility for their tiny little cars.
Well done. A masterpiece. Fantastic colour. Much better than the original. And brown interior ... perfect combination. Another car ,i want to have as real car. Great :-).
Great job in the end. The shape reminds me of a Marcos. The detail of the model is exceptional, not just the body but the wipers and rear view mirror on the windscreen.
kool , thanx...yeah , thanx for the trial and error exp. ...Who'd of thought a water mix would do that...? kindof an effect all its own.....all in all tho , great color and finish , neat car Robert
Great job as always. Lovely color. I'm not sure about the interior... it just doesn't look right to me but it is just my opinion and no harm intended . I love your channel.
Good recovery on the paint rob. I tend to use that brand of paint straight from the bottle ,and I use a 0.3 or 0.5 nozzle on my air brush . It's all about trial and error, I've cocked up a lot of paint jobs through one thing or another. But your Moyer turned out great. All the best.
Monteverdi Hai one of the craziest names in car manufacturing I wonder why they didn't sell many? apart from the price. there was a 3 minute ad for Carling in the middle of this one, I sat and watched it all coz it was a band playing rock/punk music in a pub. Look forward to your next one.
You welcome my friend, yep, they are, I look forward to your videos. I just now am getting into doing some matchbox and hot wheels restorations myself, just ordered around 200 bucks worth of tools and items I need to start it! I have collected for a long time, especially matchbox. Looking forward to doing something other then plastic models, which I love to do, just need a break from them at times!...Bill
Another lovely job Rob I was sitting watching and u said you were changing the colour red or purple and I'm shouting purple! Purple! Then u put white on just b4 you said it lol I said oh looks good in white lol 😂👍👍👍👍👍
SALUDOS DESDE COLOMBIA MUY BUENA RESTAURACIÓN EL COLOR LE SIENTA BIEN FELICITACIONES BUENA LA SODA CAUSTICA PARA DESVESTIRSE YO UTILIZO REMOVEDOR DE PINTURA MUY BIEN 🖖👍🤝
Side note: Monteverdi himself had the biggest modelcar collection in europe (around 11000 cars). The museum is no longer existing and the modelcars were sold. I've got two '48 Tucker Torpedos from Solido in 1/43 from even this Monteverdi collection. More about the museum on www.monteverdi.ch
Hi, once again a very well made restoration with a good camera position when you sprayed it. I don't know if I'm right , I think Monteverdi is or was a swiss car manufacturer with very expensive cars in the 70th and 80th. For this nice paint job I give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Greetings !
I'd look up Monteverdi Hai and this Car is real and it's also in red most be rare brand of sport car that not many people are familar with? There are so many rare cars waiting to be decovered.
Whe I have airbrished with some of my Acrylic paints, I have used Rubbing Alcohol as a thinner. no problems when I used it. I don't know how it would react with the brand you are using though. just a thought.
Great job bro! I've been thinking about getting into the small scale work, I build mostly 1/24, 1/25 but I do have some matchbox cars from when I was young (the mid 70's) There all beat up some I even painted when I was around 5 so you can imagine what they look like, Lol. I you the same Vallego paints you use and to thin them try using windshield washer fluid, (the blue stuff not the orange) Just the cheap old window fluid, Not Windex, but the stuff you put in your car, It's mostly wood grain alcohol, distilled water and a little flow agent,it doesn't effect the color but it does dry alot faster so you have to adjust your air pressure so the paint atomizes correctly and doesn't dry before it hits the car, (its ugly turns out rough and pitted) I noticed you used Pledge... I'm guessing you mean Future Pledge acrylic floor shine? Great stuff, I sometimes thin my acrylics with that too, acrylics dry pretty flat but if you thin them with the future pledge wax they gloss up a bit, again thanks for the video great job bud! 👍👍.......................... Mike(Whitey).
nice work as always, but I have a question. Sometimes, when the casting looks so good just polished up, aren't you tempted to just clear it and not prime or paint it?
3:33 - "No comment" 😚 I also have a couple of questions,if you don't mind: - (1) - Wouldn't it be better to paint the doors separately from the body,& then put them back together? (2) - This might be a stupid question, but, regarding the paint stripping process, the boiling water with the caustic soda, does that have to be done in a glass bottle,or could you get away with using a plastic container instead? - Thank You. ----------------------
One of these build's sand it with 600 grit dry then dry to 1000 grit. Then wet sand and use dish soap to lube it when wet sanding . Then wet all the way to 3000 grit then ma Hine buff it . Then go back over it again 1500 to 3000 grit . Then machine polish again . Now clean it good with De greaser or lacquer thinner . Then airbrush some clear coat on it . Check my page to see what I can do at facebook.com/skullreaperzzdesign's . I make some wicked customs !
I love the color and I think this is one of your best!
It's strange because I didn't think this one would do well but it's my best like to dislike ratio yet
Awesome to see you do this car! This is definitely one of my favorites from my childhood and I’ve picked up a few to try myself!
Great color, works well with that blue glass.
Nice job!
Monteverdi was a swiss car manufacture in the 1970's and 80's. He built only 2 monteverdi hai." Hai " is the german word for shark.
All the best from switzerland
Yup. Never went farther than prototype. Then again, he asked 27k$ back then and that was quite a lot for such a car in those days.
I always love the finished product, but what I love best, is the caustic soda paint strip. Magic !
It's great stuff although very dangerous
Nice color, like the uncommon car, nice to see some different and interesting vehicles.
Another great job, Rob. Appreciate you sharing your struggles (with the paint) and your ultimate success! I also noticed how well that caustic soda removed the ‘white crud’ under the bonnet...useful information!
Looks great! Didn't know Matchbox made one of these. I saw the real purple one once and I thought it was gorgeous.
This model has the same door detail and spring set up as the 33c Lamborghini Miura. Nice job!
Nice custom. Beautiful result and a awesome looking color.
Awesome video, great restoration as always, thanks Rob!!
The purple is WAY better than the orange! This is a cool little car. 😎
I love how you've already pre-drilled in every video, and spare us from having to watch it.
Oh yeah, and another great video and restoration!
Very beautiful painting you put, excellent custom, say hello in your next video friend.
Good one. I actually really like the color as I'm trying to restore the Matchbox Cadillac Sixty Special which is a similar shade. Thanks Rob

👍👍👍 The colour is great!
Great custom. Looks better with that colour. Suits it more. Well done.
She's a beauty, very nice and my 10yr old daughter said its a perfect colour and job.

This is the best color purple ever:)

Actually I have considered some door card details but I usually forget
Pretty cool car. I love that color.
Well done. A masterpiece. Fantastic colour. Much better than the original. And brown interior ... perfect combination. Another car ,i want to have as real car. Great :-).
Nice job. Came out well.
Super restorasion top taf cool 😊
The color turned out pretty good. I am not a purple color person but this is ok. 👍
I love the exhaust pipes!
paint turned out great, its lovely
Great for your collection Rob far better colour.
Great colour, Keep up the good work 👍
The dried white substance is probably icecream , or something else..Anyway,a top restoration!!
Great job mate, the purple came out a nice shade. That's one series car I don't own yet.
Very cool result!
Great job in the end. The shape reminds me of a Marcos. The detail of the model is exceptional, not just the body but the wipers and rear view mirror on the windscreen.

Robert
Well it looks the part, different colour makes it better, another one to add to the collection.
Very awesome job on this Rob this paint is usually air brush ready in my experience keep up the great work :3

Looks good in that paint!!
Nice video cool car love the color
Great job as always. Lovely color. I'm not sure about the interior... it just doesn't look right to me but it is just my opinion and no harm intended . I love your channel.
Perfect car and perfect pronunciation. Diez de diez. Saludos desde México!
Good recovery on the paint rob.

It's all about trial and error, I've cocked up a lot of paint jobs through one thing or another.
But your Moyer turned out great.
All the best.
I've only got the one nozzle and unsure what size it is actually

Hahaha FINALLY!!!! You are the first on to pronounce Vallejo properly
I've been practicing
Really nice Rob, looks great, well done my friend!....Bill
Thanks Bill seems my videos are keeping you busy this morning mate. Thanks for watching

Great job Rob, shame about that small imperfection.

Cool color. Nice added content with the water mixture debacle...looks like you should try some glycol
I like to show problems too. It rarely goes perfect..
Excellent Work Keep Up With The Good Work.
I like the color, I have only seen orange original ones
I have a similar in orange and in very very good condition!
Monteverdi had used that Orange on most of their other models, I'm guessing Matchbox did their production run before the actual car hit the market.
Maybe you could revisit this casting and put some greenlight wheels on it.?
SOOOO much better than that hideous orange! What was Matchbox thinking?
I also had problems in the past mixing metallic paints and thinners. Very annoying when you've spend a lot of time and effort on it.....
nice job

Awesome!
I prefer the new color!!
Not big on purple, unless it's a mopar muscle car, or a spectraflame hot wheels. But still a top notch restoration buddy .
I used to have one of these when I was a kid, now I look for them, but somehow I only find ones with both doors missing.

Love that coulor if you polished it up to shine bit more it would make that coulor pop 👍
i have this model as original from my childhood lmfao its from 1973 orange original new model in my vitrine, high collectors worth
Great job bro! 100% paint removal
I do like the chosen color, but I rather see it in 2-tone: bottom part in black, top part in Ferrari red.
Crusty white stuff? The previous owner must have *really* liked this car, lol
nice work as always, but I have a question. Sometimes, when the casting looks so good just polished up, aren't you tempted to just clear it and not prime or paint it?
Every time mate
@@MatchboxGarage I haven't left them unpainted yet, but sometimes I'm very tempted to just clear em so they don't oxidize, and let it go at that.
With your attention to detail I wished you worked at Triumph motorcycles or maybe Lotus. Find an F1 shop, most are in England.
I would love to
Alkaline rather than acid, important info the hospital will want to know. 😎
Have you tried using 90% Rubbing Alcohol or Windex for your paints.
Question.... Do you sand the primer or just airbrush on top ?????
90% of the time airbrush straight over
@@MatchboxGarage ok thanks
Hi love your videos. Can you or anyone recommend a good airbrush compresser.Thanks.
I use a AS186
Where do you dispose of your caustic soda waste?
Down the sink
Oh boy!! I was hoping you weren’t gonna say that 😢
3:33 - "No comment" 😚
I also have a couple of questions,if you don't mind: -
(1) - Wouldn't it be better to paint the doors separately from the body,& then put them back together?
(2) - This might be a stupid question, but, regarding the paint stripping process, the boiling water with the caustic soda, does that have to be done in a glass bottle,or could you get away with using a plastic container instead?

I usually paint them separately.
I've not tried plastic. The jar works well
I used to have this one in Orange , but I can't remember the sticker
One of these build's sand it with 600 grit dry then dry to 1000 grit. Then wet sand and use dish soap to lube it when wet sanding . Then wet all the way to 3000 grit then ma Hine buff it . Audi car
you're splattering your model a lot. i always aim away from the car when pressing the button and then moving it onto the car to avoid splatter.
