Best video yet. Take a bow. I am about to retire and cannot decide which I should buy. Probably both but I will enjoy both for the reasons you outlined. PS you have hundreds of aircraft to finish! Swedish, Dutch, Polish, Latvian etc.
Morning @carlsymington4956 its an interesting tale a 1/32 spitfire for Christmas last, followed by a bunch of ICM and Miniart 1/35's that terrified me followed by 30 odd Spitfires to "practice" on, followed by a crazy idea to start a RUclips channel in February, followed by more 1/35's and 1/72 aircraft which resulted in the minor obsession with "smaller ww2 era air forces" now totaling approx 600 kits, i reckon thats enough for 10+ years of building. as far as i am concerned the Miniarts etc will wait until ive got my head around this modelling malarkey, i am more than happy to use up my Tamiya's first. going to try to do 60/40 1/72 builds to 1/35's for the foreseeable though need to get my scheduling and time management right, everything i do is currently practicing to try and improve the build quality and channel quality. anyhoo thanks for watching and be seeing you.
TBH this vid didn't go according to plan the miniart is built form sooooo mnay different pieces it became almost nonsensical, but i have tried this comparison vid before, i think they worked better than this one , see link for playlist studio.ruclips.net/user/playlistPLq7NxxVyTV6AzfoJKXArAV0IQ6uZu8gHP/videos
Both are good kits and as you say, Tamiya the simpler build for introducing novices to build. Miniart make some lovely kits and I really like their figures. I have finally completed the base interior of my Ryefield model Panzer III ausf. J. Another 3 weeks or so should see it completed!
I bought that Miniart once - cheap on DaveColey - but took one look at the tracks and shelved it. The rest of the build looks fiddly but achievable. Not quick though. The Tamiya isn't state of the art, but you know it's going to be an easy build and paint.
hello there @jabonorte and thanks for watching, yes i have a few more complex kits that are like yours "shelved" until my skill level and patience catches up with my desire to build some of these kits. LOL.
Hi Andy. Its a bit like comparing apples and pears really isn't it. This is where the hobby is today. You can go for an old Airfix kit from the 80's or the same model from the 2000's. Miniart are known for their complexity and Tamiya are known for their ease of building. Whenever I look at the Miniart kit I see a Panzer IV with a Panzer III turret , I think that its the wheels that does it. The Miniart kit is a great kit with plenty to do but it will take some time to put it all together and paint it. The clear parts are the periscopes and lights. For you right now stick to Tamiya for sure. The one tip I will give you is with the individual tracks , and this applies to all these types no matter what the scale. Use liquid poly on them and wait a while , the glue will soften the joints and allow you to pose them how you want them. Also make them into two parts per run. Then you can run them around the sprocket and idler and once their dry remove them for painting. Just one other thing , if you watch MATTS Modelling stuff video of the London plastic model show you will see my models that I won my class with. The Matador with gun , Sherman , M3 halftrack and BMW with sidecar. The time is 18:32 in the video. You will also see what I was up against on my table , I hope you enjoy seeing them. Good video mate. Good luck bud.
Morning Brian LOL the miniarts are interesting but difficult for sure, i think i will not be parting with too much cash on any further difficult kits for a while and yes i WILL be sticking to the Tamiyas and Irtaleri's when it comes to builds though am going to be WITB reviewing all my harder kits over the next few months. I'll check out the vid of your winning kits for sure, though will be when i get up after sleep. TTFN.
How to encourage your kid to pick up plastic modeling? Give him a Tamiya kit. How to discourage your kid from plastic modeling? Give him a Miniart as his first kit.
Tamyia kits are normally easyer to build they are more modeler friendly in design. The minart kit is possibly more detailed and more complex to build but that shouldn't scare you off giving it a go just take your time. Individual trak links are a slog build though cleaning up and pinning them together gets tiresome. I give it a few evenings to complete they do look better than link and length or rubber band type tracks when on the model though.
hello there @johnludmon7419 and thanks for watching. Yes i have a few Miniarts etc and i am quite happy to sit on them for the time being as the Tamiya are far more at my current skill set (which is not a lot LOL) and i'll be building them before moving on to the trickyer stuff in the future.
Hello there @geofschofield7963 and thanks for watching. LOL the pins yes i know, i kinda realised i'd fluffed it when i said it. Have you built yours yet, Miniarts are awesome but beyond my skillset at the moment.
Thanks @bradmarlowe8334 the tracks look like a nightmare but thats what some people want, i am not so fussed my self but in a few years? i will have a go? hmmmmm
Hi Andy, I don’t pretend to know a lot about tanks and I know the Miniart claims to be a Panzer III but the box art looks like an early Panzer IV. As far as I am aware the Panzer III only ever had six road wheels on each side.I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. According to Wikipedia there were plans to build a Panzer III/IV combining parts from both tanks but it never actually happened. All the best, Eric.
Hello again @ericbeaton7211, your the second viewer to comment on the wheel configuration, if you check wiki again and scroll down to "variants and production" Ausf B you'll find the answer to this 8 wheeled conundrum.
GOOD REVIEW ANDY,CALL ME OLD FASHION,BUT I LIKE MY MODELS KITS SIMPLE AND FUN TO BUILD.SOME OF THESE NEWER KITS LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED A ENGINEERING DEGREE.TAKE CARE
@KLOSTER777 Miniart do some amazing kits, really good diorama accessories and figures though the vehicles LOL are pretty difficult, currently well beyond my skills anyhoo, its still in the mechanics shed though they are very close, mucho overtime to do at mo though so building schedule has gone out the window.

Hello there @delcatto60 i am prety much an echo of your comment. hope your Ryefield comes out well, i need to get my hands on one of their kits.
@ I just put together some spare track links…oh boy! Tiny individual pins but a handy device to put the individual links together.
2 very nice looking boxes , great boxart
@KLOSTER777 More bricks for the "kit box hut"

Hello there @wumao6797 and thanks for watching. Even big kids like myself doubt their sanity when looking at the tracks LOL.
Great review Andy, both kits are very nice, the mini art kit is definitely not a weekend build with that amount of sprues 😂
Thanks Kieran TBH i think i bit off a bit more than i could chew with these two

Those pins are the track pins not the wheel and sprocket fixings. I've got the Miniart 'C' version with interior.

Shame that I probably wont live long enough to see the finished Mini Art build - just my advanced age, no diagnosed condition. Best wishes.
@georgeclements2742 i look at my pile of kits and think the same LOL.
Really enjoyed that, the Miniart sounds like a bargain for that price. I think it would fry my brain lol, l just don't have the patience.

Panzer III Ausf. B and C had eight road wheels. I’m no expert but I have Haynes Owners Workshop manual for Panzer III in front of me.
@@delcatto60 Thanks Ok! like I said I am no expert.
@TheNoviceModeller Hi Andy, I stand corrected.☺
The early models of the panzer had different wheels and suspension setups as they were often prototypes.

Hi Chris yes well its a fair point you raise about the level of competence for some kits and i currently can see no fun in those tracks.
Ein very gute panzer morgen to all fellow modelers !,
Guten Morgen auch Ihnen

Hello there @dmvinyl8326 and thanks for the tip, i will check it out.
looks like my "wheel counting" was totally out to lunch - apologies everyone Dane
LOL Dane you werent the only one to query this and TBh i think there were only 10 built this way.
Never heard of Miniart before but it looks like the Eduard of AFV’s kits. Has your swedish triple patrol landed or is it still in flight?
