I was born in 2000 so after the songs release obviously but still since i can remember this song also brings tears to my eyes anytime i hear it
It’s #TIMELESS unlike the music out now well 90% of it
I feel like no one can get through “Dear Mama” without crying
There’s no way. You’d have to be soulless to not be affected by this song.
Yup I’m over here bawling like always. So good!
❤️❤️❤️
Umm I don’t cry so
This song gives me chill to this day, I grew up in the 90s and we lived in a rough neighborhood “the hood” and I had this neighbor who would lift weights outside to Tupac almost every morning……so some day I would wake up to him literally……but when I heard this song …whew…like O said …chills
Pac wasn't just a rapper. He was an artist. A poet
Actor and activist as well
A Rose that grew out of Concrete
@@LordFirekaze I had an English teacher in the year 2000 that was smart enough to use Pac to get through to us. When the topic of poetry came up, we all ignored her. She knew that 2Pac was a favorite rapper for majority of the class. The poetry she chose was "a rose that grew out of concrete." We were all kids that had major behavior issues, or came from broken/abusive homes, and she knew that specific piece of poetry would hit home. As someone that has made a pretty good life for myself (job, family, life in general...) this teacher doesn't know the impact it had. I remember it 22 years later, like it was yesterday. Good teaching, and amazing poetry!
Rhythm and poetry not hip hop
He was a prophet 💯 there was a lot more to him and he seemed to have premonitions I dunno he was just so different trying to push a positive message mostly anyways. RIP 2pac hell always live on

Can't believe it's been almost 30 years since Pac left us. The 90s still feel like 10 years ago for me.
I was 20 when Pac died. Seems like a lifetime ago😭😭
Facts I remember listening to this at age 8. Didn't understand he lyrics at the time but hearing the lyrics now I understand the meaning behind it and its become nostalgic for me. The 90s feels just like it was yesterday for me.
Shhhhh. The 90s were 10 years ago gd it!
Dude I was 7 when this came out and it still had me leaning on every word. Great music everywhere at the time.
Yeah I have that same feeling aswell I feel like the 90s was 10 years ago
Tupac's mother has a great story also. She was a Black Panther who defended herself against government charges and won. Though she had her struggles, she was an amazing woman. RIP.
#RIPAfeni
… not to mention his Panther godmother was also charged for a different political crime, fled to Cuba. Free to this day. - political asylum. Now she was a true hog - a real frontline fighter down with the cause.
She was pregnant with Tupac at the time as well, he mentioned that his embryo was cultivated in jail.
And his step dad mutulu shakur and godfather Geronimo Pratt both political prisoners

Me too, when he started to tear up I did too. It’s a beautiful thing
Tupac was a poet, lyricist, activist, and talented actor ♥️
This is such a beautiful snapshot of the human experience. Made me tear up seeing your dad tear up. This is what music is supposed to represent emotions and feelings that cross generations and cultures.
And somehow we have lost this! There is no emotion in today's music. The "rap or sing" about the samething money, drugs and sex it's just sad
what are you doing here Nick ?!!! HAhahaha , take care
Nick gets around lol 🤣 and perfectly said 👌🏻
You have the coolest nicest dad bruh
Now guys, its time for some protein pudding.

I'm 55, and a white woman. I was a single mother in the 90's, raising three children completely on my own without any support from anywhere, living in public housing and supporting all four of us on $13 an hr. It was rough. This song particularly, helped me get through those years, knowing I was seen and understood so accurately, and appreciated. Tupac was an amazing man aside from his music, well ahead of the consciousness of that era, and even to this day. Much more advanced and elevated in his Soul, like Prince. I will forever and ever hold this man in my heart for all the strength he gave me through his music for a lot of trials and tribulations in a socioeconomic trench. I felt comforted by the lyrics, the beats, the message.....there will never, ever, ever, ever be another Tupac. I hope he really is in Cuba living his life in Peace, but then again....maybe he is in another dimension far away from this nonsense called 'humanity'. Love you forever Pac.
i don't know your kids but i was to say thank you on their behalf !!!!!
Sending you ❤

TO THE DAD: I appreciate you and your emotional availability to your son in this moment. I see your imprint on your son just in his mannerisms and demeanor. His calmness speaks of the work you've done Brother. I applaud you.
It's because his sons favourite father and son activity is to get his dad in a headlock every night, that's why he's really crying just doesn't want to tell his son he dislikes that game

As a father, this resounds with me. I try n be sure to show my son that I am not perfect/ all powerful. I’m human and make mistakes. But I really do try
Tupac Shakur wasn’t just a rapper he was a poet that told stories not just about his experiences but the “black” experience. He was the balance music needed. R.I.P. to the king 🖤🤎
Yes his poetry is the truth, what a beautiful soul he was.
Exactly. Thank you for sharing that.

I feel like all rap is a form of poetry but yes imo he’s was a poet first and foremost before a musician, besides all the many reasons I wish he were still here but I think he would have done more acting an branched out into artistic areas that were not “ acceptable activities “ for rappers in the 90s
Tupac was my mom's favorite rapper and one of his biggest fans . She passed away in 2020 from complications from Covid. This was of her favorite songs from Pac. Much love and respect to you, your dad, and family.

Your mom had great taste, I’m also one of the biggest Tupac fans, still listening to his music, watching his movies, music videos and reading his poetry. Condolences for your precious mom….
What a touching dynamic, Father and Son bonding over music. And Rap which is outside of Dad’s repertoire yet he receives it with an open heart!♥️
In 2009, the song was added to the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress, who deemed it a work that is "culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States."[3] In a press release, the organization called the song "a moving and eloquent homage to both the murdered rapper's own mother and all mothers struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty and societal indifference."
Thank you! Did not know this. Great to see this song recognized to that degree. #Tupacforever

My brother put Dear Mama on a mixtape for my mother when he was a teenager. It 100% perfectly represented our childhood. He is 12 years older than me and we have different fathers. My mother had an addiction problem with heroin, which eventually took her life. It's lovely to share the sentiment of this song with you and your father. Same - there still is powerful rap but it’s not what’s playing constantly on the radio. The 90’s pop culture was about substance.. I wonder why music along that vein can’t break thru to top hits now. Makes ya wonder 🤔
@@ninasacks1980 the internet is a great thing, but if there is one thing that it has done wrong, it is making people impatient. Most people are just looking for the quick dopamine hit while they’re on the way to work. Even our food has become like this with fast food restaurants. Of course, not everyone is affected as greatly, but most aren’t willing to take the extra time to appreciate something deep and complex.

A little background for your father and you to explore...Tupac's mother was Afeni Shakur. She was a Black Panther activist. Read her book. She named Tupac after a revolutionary leader by the name of Tupac Amaru from Peru. Tupac grew up as a young activist. He was an avid reader and a young performer in acting. Often times record labels will push black artists to develop a more edger gangster persona to sell records. Sadly rappers with a more poetic and conscious message are forced to "dumb it down" and play a stereotype to keep their contracts.
She changed his name to Tupac Shakur
Socially, politically, and artfully conscious. Must be sharply pointed, because we can be conscious of anything. That word is not an automatic positive, though we assume.

My son made me a homemade mother's day card when he was 14yrs old and it was some of the lyrics from Dear Moma. I didn't realize that's where the words came from until years later, I was going through all his cards from the past. As a 14yr old he understood the struggles that I was going through for him, because of him and my heart was soo full of love for my child at that point and we connected on so many levels. Well said. I was thinking the same thing.
I can't listen to that song without shedding tears because I can relate. I was in and out of jail, selling drugs since I was 15, then began to use them by 17 and (after a long fight with addiction, incarceration and (everything that comes with it) I got clean 10 yrs later. By then, my younger brother of 11 yrs was doing the same shit only worse and all 3 of us boys had put our single mother thru hell and yet, she was the most selfless person I've ever known the entire time! After my brother put her through over 10 yrs of heartache and constant worries, I was able to buy, gut and remodel a little 2 bedroom 1 bath Condo for her to retire a little early in. Everything was brand new with tags on all the appliances, new kitchen cabinets, granite, floors, doors (literally everything from the drywall in) and she was so excited! One day I was finishing up the bathroom walls and she was supposed to come over and do some touch up in the bedrooms because she wanted to be a part of the whole thing and she was really good at diffrent types of DIY improvements. But, , she didn't show up and after I called her a few times throughout the day without an answer, I had a pit in my stomach and went to her apartment to find her cold and stiff. She died shortly after she told me she was coming over the day before (according to the time of death.) I never got to see the smile on her face when she would've moved in and seen the finished product 2 wks later! She was classy, looked like a million bucks (even though she didn't have 2 nickles to rub together) but, you'd never know that and she'd go without to provide for us.
Yeee.

I was just having a Pac or Biggie convo with someone who brought it up. I overall like Pac more, and Pac sold more. Hehe. I know a lot of details about him. I love that he sampled Joe Sample's In All My Wildest Dreams and The Spinners Sadie. I am a 70's and 90's R&B and jazz fan so this song really emcompasses both era's. I love Tupac and he will forever be a legend!
The background chorus sounds old school because it's a spin on the Spinner's song "Sadie" that talks about mothers. My first 2pac song I've ever heard and I see why he received all the hype. Touching lyrics with the combination of the emotions provoked by the "Sadie" background. Thanks for sharing!

I know what it is to finally realize her strength in such a hard life. I am expanding so much, so late in life, but expansion is never a bad thing.
Expansion is beautiful! ✊🏾🙏🏾
your age has nothing to do with your mental growth. meaning, u can learn and grow at any age - and its ok. so keep doing it
Beautiful. Keep expanding. That’s what I want to do. 💜
It's not thing at all. Keep on expanding 🙂. Growth is great!
Congratulations on continuing to evolve brother.
This is why Pac is the greatest of all time.
PAC was a poet! 😢😢
This content is exactly what i need. I cry at so many songs and it makes me feel weird. Like whats wrong with me? Absolutely nothing is wrong with me. Im a deep empath just like his dad
I’m a 47 year old white guy and never heard this song and I was also crying. My mom passed away in 2017 and this song reminded me of her big time
Beautiful
Sorry you lost your mom, I think it's beautiful this song gave you an emotional release
Sorry for your loss. I'm close to you in age. I'll make sure to appreciate mine more after you saying that..

If Pac was around today to see this reaction he’d be happy, he wanted people to hear the message of his music.
He definitely was ahead of his time.
Your father is such a sweet soul!! I'm glad you share these videos with us!! Love your music reactions!
You gained a new subscriber. Seeing the excitement of the kid to show the song to his father is what was most endearing. The kid is literally a real fan himself.
Pac also did not curse 1 time in this song or anything negative wording..he kept this song as pure as could be..it gets overlooked to its value..its definitely art..Rip Pac
@TheRealSHNEAKO🏳️🌈 they said in thus song cuh

@TheRealSHNEAKO🏳️🌈 but that’s why he was so amazing, he was versatile. That’s why he was/is the goat

Wonderful to see this song vibrate ,so many years later.. Beautiful to see your dad connect with it.. Love it
Just randomly came across this and it was just what I needed. It was more about watching you and your dad and the love between you. I’ve lost my mom, my husband and now just recently a son. They were extremely close. Keep loving each other!
Just had a huge argument with my mom and stormed out the house. This video got me crying and ready to apologize, life is short dude 😪
Definitely appreciate your mom cause once she’s gone, that hole in your heart never quite closed up.💔
Prayers sent to you and your mom!!
You should.
don't apologize....
Go back man. Go hug your momma man
So refreshing to see a older guy be open to different cultures.
Facts I feel some true love in my heart. I love this I love the two generations sharing my culture.

The love for a mother has no cultural barriers really♥️
What a beautiful connection between father and son. Seems that there are tons of respect for one another. That is so nice to watch how they both appreciate each others views, perspectives and feelings. Thumbs up.
As a person who grew up without my father. This song hits soo hard. Hard to get past it without tearing up
Man this father son relationship is something special. Much respect! One of the coolest dad's I've seen!
😎 cool son and Pops...
LOVE IT
True that though, me and my pops cant even speak the same language l
@@do-your-own-research5240 age gap and cultural difference for me and my dad! I'm old school but he's super super old school! Lol
I remember hearing this song for the first time back in 95. I was 16 years old and my mother was very sick. I can’t explain how much this song meant to me. I took care of my mom for the next 3 years while she struggled in and out of the hospital till she passed away in January of 1999. I love you Momma!! ♥️♥️
🙏🏽
All the best for you and your momma bro. Rest in peace. ❤️💜
Respect to you dude that is definitely hard to go through.
She loves you too ❤️🙏🏽
I am sorry, you did right by her❤️ our loved one are always with us.
There's something about the energy between you and your dad that I enjoy on top of the music review. You guys are great!
I lost my Mom a while ago ,this track from 2Pac always makes me tear up ! Great song !!

Yes welldone Sir!. Your boy turned out amazing in such a worrisome generation!
"Dear Mama" was one of 25 recordings selected for preservation at the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress in 2010, making it the third hip hop song to do so, following tracks by Public Enemy and Grandmaster Flash. The Library of Congress has called the song "a moving and eloquent homage to both the murdered rapper's own mother and all mothers struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty and societal indifference."

On mother's day weekend 😢
That's amazing
Now I wanna know which public enemy song is in it hahah
I get emotional every time I listen to this song 😢
First time visitor of this chanel, as a pac's fan i couldn't resist. I love both of your sweet voices and you both seem like two kind loving souls ❤
Oh boy.... I just found you two and I'm already obsessed. You got me in tears over here. Love watching ur reaction to all this good music. So genuine so pure. I love that ur getting to hear all of this good music.... Never to early or to late!
As a black woman and mother, I can’t ever listen to this and not cry. So many ppl I’ve grown up with can relate to this song word for word. That stuff is hard to see and is heartbreaking.
This touched me
Being a black divorced, single mom, you place everything on pause to raise your kids.. And a young black man at that.. You want to be the type of mom/woman your son brings home to you… The entire time I could see your dad reminiscing about his mom… ❤️
Same here, i can’t hear this song without crying. I don’t listen to this song much for that reason. Not that it’s a bad song, far from it. I just relate because, even though I didn’t live the same life that Tupac did, I still felt like I let my mom down in a lot of ways, but we never failed to show each other that unconditional love, no matter how imperfect either of us were. May she Rest In Peace. God bless!
@@bryanfuchs1512 You make your mom proud just by living your life to the fullest.. Good parents don’t care the amount of money you make nor the level of success you have.. Good parents want you to be better version (as far as character) as them.. Happiness, self acceptance, integrity and the love of humanity is what’s important.. Your momma is very very proud.. Don’t ever question it…❤️
❤️ You are appreciated, sis.
My son played this for me and I cried like a baby. He was in and out of juvenile starting at age 14 after his stepdad committed suicide. We went through a lot and I had become a single parent. He’s 32 now and no matter how much I loved him and was there for him he just couldn’t get his life right due to alcohol and drugs. It pains me to say out loud that he is now in prison and it’s sad because he’s really a good person underneath all of that. He’s doing so good now and I’ll be here waiting with open arms when he comes home. Thanks for this video. It really hit home with me and brought back the memory of my first time hearing it with my son.

What a heartfelt and real reaction! That was the real Tupac. Regardless how the media wanted to portray him he was a poet and had way of expressing himself that was heartfelt! Keep up the good work guys! I just liked and subscribed!
Your Dad perfectly described this poetry when he called this “GORGEOUS”...LEGENDARY

This man has been dead for over 25 years and still can impact someone right away. Amazing!!

This father has felt something every black man has felt hearing this song growing up in the 90s ☝🏾☝🏾 we all felt the same pops lol someone cutting onions lmao we all love our momma
👍🏾yes
You know them red onions hit different 😂😂
I love mine!
But no bullshit… this still hits now. I heard it just recently.
Facts
Bro, make sure you cherish your father! Not only is he willing to open his mind to hip hop, he’s also a super intelligent dude!
Reminds me of my father. We sit down every chance we get and listen to music. My father raised me to be strong but my heart to be soft. I love my father this video reminds me of that special bond a son and father have. This is what we all need no matter what your color is and this is what the government stole from the African family. So much pain and hurt in this song it moves my soul and makes me proud that even tho I’m Caucasian I have African family and that we all started at home to make the difference. Let’s send this message in hopes to heal the African family and give their fathers back to them.
@@radicalred474 you blamed the government huh? you keep believing the bs you just said about black fathers, we are definitely in our childrens lives, but the media that look like you dont want to show that. if you want to blame somebody, try systemic racism, redlining, jim crow laws, sundown towns, non equal opportunity employment, and guess who came up with that?..and i can go on and on why black fathers was absent, but you wouldnt like it though..and i definitely know that yte fathers are absent too, so how about you heal yourself, we are just fine.
Im sure he does but wonder if he will ever realize how lucky he is. Probably not but man is he lucky
