I confess, I am also a Ramin fan...but I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Mutu's rendition of this song. His interpretation is softer, less angry than Mr. Karimloo's interpretation; but it is still lovely and beautifully done. Bravo!
I hate when people say that someone did this song better. I think they all did a really good job and I actually just came across this and it's beautiful.
It's crazy just how Tam exudes so much emotion here. It should also be very illegal to be this gorgeous and talented at the same time. Anyway, I love Tam. :D
I agree 100%! Tam is such an handsome and talented man. I've also heard from fans who have met him, he's one the friendliest actors you'll met at the stage door. Sierra soooo lucky to have him. :)
I saw Tam as the Phantom in Love Never Dies last october when Ramin was doing a dress rehearsal for Les Mis 25th concert, and I was really looking forward to hearing Ramin live but Tam blew me away, I was on the edge of tears for the whole show then at the end I cracked! I had mascara running down my cheeks and walking through the Adelphi afterwards I noticed I wasn't the only one.
I think people are forgetting how DIFFICULT this piece is to sing, and how flawlessly he's hitting these notes with what it sounds like a cover. Sure, Ramin sounds incredible, but so does Tam. It's important to recognize and appreciate the work someone puts into their craft, and clearly Tam works just as hard as Ramin to make his music sound incredible.
considering I am obsessed, OBSESSED with Ramin and his vocal talent, I love Tam's voice. Ramin has this way w/ acing the nuances of a song, and I can hear that Tam has that exact same attack (or approach) that Ramin has, with the push/pull musicality. Plus, you can tell Tam knows that one really has to go for it, especially this particular song and score, which he definitely did (and does). He's extremely talented and intelligent with his performances. I'll even say that the clear-as-a-whistle notes that he's hitting are close to if not on-par as Ramin's! BRAVO, Tam :)
the people were rude, but he persevered beautifully. I think his cleft chin is adorable and his voice is even more wonderful. this performance is one of the best i've heard thus far. fantastic.
2:34, 2:56, his high notes were actually brighter, sharper and more sustained than Ramin's but 3:02, his finish lacked the power and depth that Ramin is known for. I think this guy may be a lyric tenor while Ramin a tenor robusto/de forza or even heldentenor.
Wow, Tam. Excellent. thanks for posting this. Have been looking going to see him in Les Mis. and Javert is my favourite character. Was concerned but now VERY HAPPY!!!
Incredible! I thought Karimloo was the be-all-end-all as far as this song was concerned, but I was obviously mistaken. Mutu has that same crispness and sharpness, as well as range and volume control. Absolutely wonderful!
When you see Tam in the flesh - he's gorgeous! Thought this was a brilliant performance and am booking a ticket to see him in Les Mis soon - with the talented and beautiful Sierra Boggess. How fantastic that they get to work together in the same show.
Aww! Thank you. Now I do like Ben Lewis more but I like how Tam gives it a different portrayal. I want to see what else he can do as his career progresses. I think Tam and Ben are handsome and talented performers. :)
Guys the "I" is fine. He's singing in a hideous outdoor environment, with a handheld mic, with a backing track (I'm guessing) which means he's backphrasing heaps and has to keep a certain tempo the whole way, and its not an easy song anyway. He did that freakin' well.
He and Ramin and Ben are my favorite LND Phantoms. Tam has the chin and voice, Ramin has the feelings and voice, and Ben has the 10 years older Phantom tone to him.
I think Ben sounds like he has some kind of layer to his voice that makes his voice sound muffled in a way I find unpleasant... Therefor I don't like Ben Lewis very much. :/ How do you experience it?
Emil Wingstrand He has a great older Phantom voice, the deepness of his voice captures the esence that ten years had really passed. But I respect your opinion
Jay Salvoro-Patterson And don't forget that Ben has the emotions and voice. He's just more mature, controlled, brutish, a rogue who has a beautiful, dark quality to his rich baritone.
I am a HUGE Ramin Karimloo fan! His performance as the phantom was so magnificent and powerful that it's hard to image another person playing that role. Having said that, i think Tam has a wonderful voice and is a great performer. Let's leave this whole rivalry. this has nothing to do with looks nor Sierra. i think we were just use to Ramin gorgeous voice that it was hard to imagine someone else playing the role. this is just a matter of who you like best, and I like Ramin. Tam is also great.
TheMsiaddict Ha, it's totally up to you, but my point was that it's hard to go to any POTO/LND video without seeing comparison comments like "X was better!" "Y owns this song!", etc.
He is wonderfully entrancing and he really is perfect!!! What a great phantom! i wish i could have seen him live! Full makeup and everything he would be breathtaking !
I saw this show soon after it first opened - and it is VERY interesting to hear how much the lyrics have been tweaked! Still not convinced by them all yet!!
I love ramin karimloo and was disappointed when i showed up at the theatre to realise he wasnt going to play the part that night. But wow Tam changed that straight away, he has an incredible, powerfull voice!
@lunahate had that 'sounds like Ramin' moment in the theatre once. Actually took me a few moments to realize that it was Tam on stage as Phantom that day. He was wonderful - hope I'll get a chance to see/hear him again some day
I couldn't agree more! I am in love with Ramin... but when I heard a video of Tam and Sierra.... oo! Chills. He's great as the Phantom! I wish I lived in London. There just seems to be all this talent brewing there!
have seen both Ramin and Tam as Phantom in LND and they were both fantastic. Hope Tam will be performing as Javert in Les Mis when I'm in London in November, would love to see him live again
I've always loved this song I grew in love with it, I love his voice might be different from others that's make me love it more. That note he hits was amazing in my opinion.
I am so happy to see Tam recieving the praise he deserves. Now that he's playing Javert in Les Miserables, people can finally see him as the talented actor/singer he is. (Chills are running down my spine) Not just the uderstudyy who covered for Ramin. As for the haters. You just watch, he'll be the one taking over the West End and Broadway befroe you know it. And I personally think he is sexy! Sierra Boggess is one lucky girl. :)
This version of the song is pretty good, and I bet he did even better in the actual show. No one else can sing this song like Ramin Karimloo and Ben Lewis, but there are other singers who are okay, and some are better than the others...
I'm the first to admit that I could never sing this song, since I'm a baritone. I could never get up to the high Bb.Hell I can barely hit an F#. So to all you divas and p!ssy attitude queens out there, don't jump all over me for making a negative comment. Tam has a beautiful voice, and sings this song wonderfully, until he gets to the high Bb. Ramin sails up to it with ease, where Tam basically screams it.The Bb at the end is one of those moments that you live for.. and if its not spot on.....
Ramin left LND since 2011 haha the show is still on but whitout him and Sierra. He is on tour right now in USA but in september he'll be in Canada to play Valjean
I did not see the show but i heard an audio of his last performance. H emost certainly did deserve the screaming after he finished "Til i Hear You Sing:. I would have been cheering too. :)
I hate whem people say ramin and sierra should get together, like hellllooo he's already married and has kids. Sierra seems like she has quite a man here! He's so talented!
No sadly he has not been offered to play the Phantom yet. Right now he's playing Javert in Les Miserables on the West End. Last year he co-starred with Sierra who was playing Fantine.
That was awesome. I doubt he was singing in the ~ideal~ environment for this song so kudos on such a great performance. Sometime you wish you could just shout into the monitor to tell the people around him to be quite....Good filming there too. We just did a female version of this if anyones bored.
@misswaffle123 Hi, I use a Panasonic HDC-HS700 which, as you can see gives broadcast quality pictures...sorry for the odd shaking of camera, some nice people kept bumping in to me!
jesus people, why are you being so cruel? Ramin is Ramin Tam is Tam, each person does their very best, and I think they're both very talented. This song is very hard to sing okay? He did a beautiful job, very emotional.
I don't think this is a case of which is better, Ramin is amazing, so is Tam. I think they both give the role their own unique gifts :) They both do a great job with this.
Love Never Dies hasn't been on West End since 2011. Ramin stayed until it closed. It will come back on a UK tour next year and maybe also back to West End.
@CrazyGood88 So do I! He's a tremendous actor who deserves to have every oppertunity to stretch his creative wings. And voice that sends shivers down my spine. I really hope he'll still be in the Broadway Musical Rebecca with Sierra Boggess next year.
Tam, has a lot of talent. it just takes a while to get use to the change. especially if your a huge Ramin fan like me. that song Ramin made it famous with the video and having sung it in award shows that it will take a while to get use to, BUT! i felt the same way when i first heard Ben Lewis sing it. til i got to appreciate his voice to. with all fairness, Tam did a great Job. I can only imagine the pressure he must of been feeling. just look at his expression towards the end. but good job tam!
I confess, I am also a Ramin fan...but I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Mutu's rendition of this song. His interpretation is softer, less angry than Mr. Karimloo's interpretation; but it is still lovely and beautifully done. Bravo!
What a handsome talented singer. This song always brings me to tears. BEAUTIFUL! Thank you.
I hate when people say that someone did this song better. I think they all did a really good job and I actually just came across this and it's beautiful.
yeah, but ramin did do it better
How can anyone dislike this? The notes at the top are soo clean
I think, considering Tam had to sing in front of a crowd that was continually talking, it was miraculous that he got through the song as well he did.
You're so right. What an incredibly rude audience!
Criminally underrated! I had the pleasure of seeing him as the Phantom in "Love Never Dies", and he blew me away.
Whoa! Absolutely stunning! I didn’t know what to expect at first, but I was blown away. Bravo!!
Wow Tam has an Amazing voice!!! I haven't heard him before and I'm happily impressed!
I hate the fact that there are people talking when he's singing, people don't have any respect! He's doing a good job :)
Hate the fact that people push "don't like" only because he isn't Ramin... Tam is great at singing this song, this is undeniable.
Have never heard him before. Sounds amazing! Will def be searching more videos of him! 💯
He is one of my mentors. He is absolutely incredible!
What’s he like IRL?
@dr.philmcbill3931 very very kind and an excellent teacher! He's made me a stronger performer!
considering I am obsessed, OBSESSED with Ramin and his vocal talent, I love Tam's voice. Saw him as Phantom in London's Love Never Dies. Amazing voice, loved the show. This song is so beautiful.
Fairplay i think Tam did a brill job living up to Ramin's performances, and when i think about it they are both as good as eachother! love them both
So good, stop comparing and just enjoy ffs
I'm used to Ramin Karimloo's version but man this is fantastic!!
I actually think this is the only person I can listen to and *not* compare him to Ramin. This guy is equally good and makes the song his own.
2:34, 2:56, his high notes were actually brighter, sharper and more sustained than Ramin's but 3:02, his finish lacked the power and depth that Ramin is known for. I think this guy may be a lyric tenor while Ramin a tenor robusto/de forza or even heldentenor.
he is fabulous--i don't see why people are putting him down! he sounds great and hits all those notes wonderfully! wish i could see him in les mis!
Wow, Tam. Excellent. thanks for posting this. Have been looking going to see him in Les Mis. and Javert is my favourite character. Was concerned but now VERY HAPPY!!!
Beautiful song. Someone dedicated it to me in high school. We were both in the music and theatre department
What a brilliant voice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
Incredible! I thought Karimloo was the be-all-end-all as far as this song was concerned, but I was obviously mistaken. Mutu has that same crispness and sharpness, as well as range and volume control. Absolutely wonderful!
My God...His voice...he's an angel! *-*
So this is the man that captured the heart of Sierra 😍
Not for long..he married someone else.
Not for long tho...😓
He's the only one that brings the song with as much passion as Ramin does :) Also: he reminds of Hercules, haha (the disney version)
When you see Tam in the flesh - he's gorgeous! Thought this was a brilliant performance and am booking a ticket to see him in Les Mis soon - with the talented and beautiful Sierra Boggess. How fantastic that they get to work together in the same show.
Thank you!
Thank you! So glad to see soneone else can see reason. :)
Tam is brilliant!! Great voice!
Beautiful job 😍
Aww! Thank you. Now I do like Ben Lewis more but I like how Tam gives it a different portrayal. I want to see what else he can do as his career progresses. I think Tam and Ben are handsome and talented performers. :)
Nothing beats Ben Lewis’ interpretation as he’s the perfect embodiment of the Phantom: tall, white, soaring vocals and fully emotive.
Thank you. :)
Your voice gave me chills... Oh my goodness you are amazing!!
He sounds amazing!!!
Guys the "I" is fine. He's singing in a hideous outdoor environment, with a handheld mic, with a backing track (I'm guessing) which means he's backphrasing heaps and has to keep a certain tempo the whole way, and its not an easy song anyway.
He did that freakin' well.
Tam is talented and has a great voice. Love the way he sings this song I just wish he did the "and let them die" just like Ramin does.
Awesome !!!!
How do you experience it?
Emil Wingstrand He has a great older Phantom voice, the deepness of his voice captures the esence that ten years had really passed. But I respect your opinion
Okey, I respect yours too, of course and I can see your point even if I don't know if I agree :)
Emil Wingstrand
Don't watch the film, watch the sitzprobe and the raw video from the audience.
Great voice. Wonderful.
Why does it not surprise me that people keep comparing him to Ramin...
Very good performance of Tam. He's got a beautiful voice.
Can we compare him to Ben Lewis instead?
TheMsiaddict
Ha, it's totally up to you, but my point was that it's hard to go to any POTO/LND video without seeing comparison comments like "X was better!" "Y owns this song!", etc.
Weronika K
Grins. He struggled with the high notes. Did he play Valjean too?
TheMsiaddict
Tam actually played Javert and Enjolras in Les Mis.
Weronika K
Enjolras is a tenor, right? Is there a video about him here?
He is wonderfully entrancing and he really is perfect!!! What a great phantom! i wish i could have seen him live! Full makeup and everything he would be breathtaking !
His voice is so beautiful! 👏🙂
Wonderful !
love it, he is a fantastc phantom, I've seen him many times and his voice is FAB!
Ramin and Tam are two talented singers. Don't compare people. THEY'RE BOTH VERY VERY GOOD!! gosh
I saw this show soon after it first opened - and it is VERY interesting to hear how much the lyrics have been tweaked! Still not convinced by them all yet!!

have seen both Ramin and Tam as Phantom in LND and they were both fantastic. Hope Tam will be performing as Javert in Les Mis when I'm in London in November, would love to see him live again
Picking one to be the best is like trying to compare asparagus to potato. Each brings his own unique flavor to the role. Bravo to both!
Jesus guys. All of you commenting on his appearance, has Phantom and Love Never Dies taught you nothing? It's his voice that matters, not his face.
he's amazing..
The chin of this man is... Words cannot describe.
Cor hes a beautiful man 🖤 and that voice 👅
Okay my opinion.
Tam has the looks for the Phantom, but Ramin has the voice.
I've always loved this song I grew in love with it, I love his voice might be different from others that's make me love it more. That note he hits was amazing in my opinion.
Is it just me, or does Tam kinda resemble Loki? (:
I am so happy to see Tam recieving the praise he deserves. Now that he's playing Javert in Les Miserables, people can finally see him as the talented actor/singer he is. He would be perfect as Mr.Rochester.

Why are people rudely talking through his amazing performance?
Ramin left LND since 2011 haha the show is still on but whitout him and Sierra. He is on tour right now in USA but in september he'll be in Canada to play Valjean
You're right.
nice voice aww
Tam and Ramin are both awesome, and talent has nothing to do with why Sierra and him are together instead of her and Ramin. Her and tam love eachother
Tam is incredible as Javert!! saw him last night :)
Pretty good version, but no one will ever be able to sing this song like Ramin. Ramin was one of the best Phantoms ever!
I did not see the show but i heard an audio of his last performance. H emost certainly did deserve the screaming after he finished "Til i Hear You Sing:. I would have been cheering too. :)

Damn that was good
Damn Sierra for getting this guy AND Ramin...
Love Never Dies hasn't been on West End since 2011. Ramin stayed until it closed. It will come back on a UK tour next year and maybe also back to West End.
Between Ramin & Tam, Sierra is one VERY lucky girl!!!
@bookworm266 Hi, thanks for the info much appreciated. Touched lucky on the day getting close to the front to be able to record the footage.
he is good!
@CrazyGood88 So do I! He's a tremendous actor who deserves to have every oppertunity to stretch his creative wings. And voice that sends shivers down my spine. I really hope he'll still be in the Broadway Musical Rebecca with Sierra Boggess next year.
Well, I'm always for team Rierra, but just on stage, Sierra and Tam make such a cute couple in real life! And Tam has a beautiful voice :)
Eu amo a parte "Let hope pass, let dreams pass, let them DIE!"
