Love the bookmark! But as someone who used these bookmarks in the 1970s, they stay in place better when you place them around several pages and close the book over both sides of the bookmark. Otherwise, the bookmark is likey to be pulled off if, for instance, you have the book in your purse or bag. Happy crocheting!
I thought of the same thing. I am pre-1970, so I guess I am vintage and not just old. However, I have to admit that my bookmarks were made of felt and not pretty lace like these. I like this design because of the shells around the edge. I look forward to making a few for myself.
¡Hola! I just did this bookmark following your tutorial: it’s sooo beautiful! ❤❤❤ I love it! 😃 Thank you for sharing awesome vintage crochet 💖 I’m writing all the way from Mexico city 🇲🇽
Stumbled across your channel the other day while working on a project and I just want to say I'm super glad that I did! I LOVE vintage things, and vintage crochet especially. After years of not working any crochet I've been slowly getting back into it as something I can share with my mom (who has crocheted so many different clothing accessories for me over the years) and I'm super excited to try out this pattern. The way you break things down and explain them as you go along has been one of the best lessons I've come across on YT. It reminds me of how my mom taught me crochet in the beginning. You've made it very easy to follow along. Thank you for taking the time to make this content and share it with us! I hope you continue to do so and I look forward to crocheting along with you on a few projects (the vintage shawl was actually the video that I first saw but I don't have the spare yarn for that right now so cute bookmarks it is!)
I just ordered the book and it will be here next week. Your instructions are excellent and I have to make one before the book arrives. Looking forward to your series and following along with the written. Thank you for your tutorial.
Indeed! you're very welcome, they will come very soon, I'm working on this 1935 evening gown as we speak and I think another bookmark will be the perfect easy , pallet cleansing project after crocheting this gown haha
So I’ve completed 3 & 4 of the bookmarks. I used the #10 crochet for #3 and Aunt Lydia’s 3 for #4. Haven’t blocked them yet but will do after I do these others. These are wonderful!!!
I want to thank you for showing me how to do this pattern. I have had this same pattern for 10-15 yrs. with all 5 corner markers in it and did not do them because I did not understand everything in the instructions. I have just started crocheting with in the last yr. or so with thread. I have always worked with yarn until lately and have discovered that I love working with thread. I hope that you will do the other patterns before long. I am starting to work this pattern up for some of the ladies at my church for their Bibles. Thank you again.
Just wanted to say that i loved the pink flower and nail polish with the rose thread. It kinda set a mood and felt special. As always, wonderful tutorial!
Just found this tutorial and finished this beautiful bookmark. ooo la la ... my reading people will receive this and/or the others in their holiday cards!!! Thank you for Vintage ... my all time favorite so far!🤩
I want to make all those book marks. I’ve made two of this one using two different types of yarn and both cotton and an acrylic blend worked up beautifully. You’re a great teacher. Cheers and thank you!
Hello, I am new to your channel and first watched your video on the beautiful crochet dress, and then this one popped up. I loved it soo much I immediately sat down and started making one with some slightly thicker yarn that I had (this was at about 8 in the evening). I rushed out the next day and bought some thinner yarn and have just finished making it. I just adore it. but now I need to make another 6 more for my friends and family that love reading - this is the perfect gift. Thank you so much for sharing, your tutorials are awesum and you sound wonderful - some of your comments just crack me up, you are soo funny ❣❣
I’m going to make some for my aunts & uncles, for their bibles ! One aunt has to do bible studies on Wednesdays then on Sunday service ! She’s always telling me she needs bookmarks , so this will be the perfect Mother’s Day gift!
Just found your channel. Appreciate your teaching and patience... can’t wait to try your 1935 dress! Just finished this bookmark and looking forward to others you intend on doing. 😊
Me again! I made it!! I started out using #10 thread and I messed up so switched to a light#2 mercerized cotton and a 2mm hook and it turned out beautiful...not oversized but I have very tight tension. Now that I understand the pattern I may go back to the thread. Either way just beautiful. Thanks again. Just wanted to share my experience!
This looks like a cap for Teddy Bear.... who's been around since the 70s. Any vintage patterns of just decorative roses... posies? Going to try the pattern in the slinky dress pattern. How you manage to excite us about crochet again is absolutely mahvelous! Many blessings ya'll!!
No I have not seen bookcorners before, and yes you are right they are very neat and beautiful. They might also be pretty with a little tangle or tassel
Wow! What a beautiful pattern and awesome concept of being bookmarks.. never in a million would I have thought of a cornered bookmark. Absolutely brilliant and so so pretty. Thank you sooooo much for sharing this pattern and showing us how to do it. It’s a real pleasure watching you work. Keep it up sweetheart 😉
I love these so very much!! I love all of your vintage tutorials!!! Is there any way of getting the patterns??? I sure would appreciate them!!! I really enjoy watching and listening to you!!! You are very talented!!! Thank you!!!!
just crocheted this, and it was pretty easy to follow along with, just had to frog my work once (but that was probably because I got lost, not because of this video 😂), and I love my new bookmark! never seen bookmarks like these before, but I love them, they're so cute! gonna make some more for sure, and I look forward to seeing the 5 other bookmark patterns! 💜
New to your channel. Referred by Lulu loves Crochet. She made beautiful bookmarks! I just checked out your other channel and planning on making the poncho. It is gorgeous.
For paperbacks, I’m going to try making it up to end of row 8 and then adding the outer shell frill for a smaller “taco”. Will let you know how it works up.
That moment when you get to round 12 and realize you've missed a chain 3 from round 9 🤦🏻♀️ I couldn't be bothered to find my hook case, so I used the vintage 8 hook that was with my thread already sitting out. It's a little stiff, and probably smaller than yours, but it still worked up quite nicely. I can't wait to make the other 4! My mom made me some of these when I was little, but your guess is as good as mine as to what ever happened to them.
I have the same book with all these patterns in it and have made multiples of each one. They make great Mother's Day gifts, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts etc. Another idea I had is to make lots of them and donate to my church to give to people when they get saved and are given a Bible, or to parents for baby dedications when the child us presented a Bible.
Just came across your channel and am so happy I did! You have such a fun and unique channel and I’m enjoying catching up with all your videos.❤ I will definitely be trying to make this vintage bookmark- it’s beautiful. Thank you for your videos!
That is very pretty but hard for me. I crochet for charity and have not used small needles and thread for a long time. My hands actually hurt but will do more.
I found it hard to follow this pattern because whenever we go into a fan from a ch3, tr row, she means to fan in the ch2 area and then go into the area between, not into the next chain area. I had to frog each time because I was listening along the first time and didn't see the note, and there was not a note the second time. I had to stop and watch her project closely the second time to figure out what she did a second time because she didn't show her continuing past the 2nd half.
Ok I know I just found you channel yesterday…. Maybe you answer these questions in other videos. Is this US, and are these vintage hooks you are using or can you still buy these size hooks?
no worries, I used a modern 1.90mm steel hook, you can find them anywhere , the pattern called for a 1.80mm hook which you can still find easily anywhere I just did not have one at the time of filming :)
Could you please provide the written instructions? It is hard to follow you as you go so quickly and reword the instructions instead of in order as written so makes it difficult to follow. I even tried to write it down as you went and found that difficult as well. Thank you.
It was just hard to follow to write down or to do as you went as was so fast. I do better from written than video as it takes it at my speed, plus I can make my own notes to highlight items to remember, such as your "fake stitch". I liked that you showed that so plainly and I did make a special defining note on my written directions from your video. I also have trouble with thread crochet in my eyes focusing going from screen to item working on so that is where written directions also help.Your video was good other than that fast factor.
Thank you so much for watching! Please hit the " Like" button above if you did like the pattern and Subscribe for Tutorials like this and more! :)
This so gorgeous - I can't wait for your future videos for the other 5 patterns. You do a wonderful job explaining.
Thank you so much for that 🥰
Love the bookmark! But as someone who used these bookmarks in the 1970s, they stay in place better when you place them around several pages and close the book over both sides of the bookmark. Otherwise, the bookmark is likey to be pulled off if, for instance, you have the book in your purse or bag.

Ohh! thanks for the tip , I never would have thought of that :)
The voice of experience. I want to make these and I will include that tip when I give them as a gift.

They are super neat and I've never seen anything like them before. I'll be making a few as presents 😊
Oh me too!! 😊
I’m so doing this! You’re right, they’re so stinking CUTE! These would make great Mother’s Day gifts for friends and family that do a lot of reading😀
So fun and easy to make, finished it all in one day. Thanks for this tutorial!

Right on😊😊
This is perfect!! They will hold down the page, as well. So pretty! I can’t wait to try this! Thank you, Lovey 💕
this was so fun to make, thank you for sharing it. I look forward to the other book mark patterns.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Beautiful vintage bookmarks. I've never seen something like them before, and I am 62 years old now 🙂
I did not either until I came across this pattern :)
I just turned 74, and they're completely new to me, too!

Absolutely beautiful! All of the corner bookmarks would make great gifts! Thank you for posting this! ❤❤❤
I was given a thin pierced metal page-corner bookmark years ago. But I have never seen a crochet version! This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Oh! That sounds interesting! and you're very welcome :) and thank you

I look forward to the other videos. The 2nd one you pointed to (upper right) is my favorite!
I'm going to try working this in worsted weight and using it as a bag. 😊
Wow, this is so cool! I grew up in Massachusetts in the 70’s and never saw anything like this. Looks like I’ve got another project! Lol
I want to make all those book marks. I’ve made two of this one using two different types of yarn and both cotton and an acrylic blend worked up beautifully. You’re a great teacher. Cheers and thank you!

ohhh, I think we have all been there lol,
I do need to make the rest of these , thanks for the reminder ! :)
This is awesome. Do you ever do a book cover? My bible is getting a bit rough and I'd love to do something to cover it in crochet...
No I have not but I know that there are some really good tutorials here on RUclips and specifically for bibles as well 😊
I have the same book with all these patterns in it and have made multiples of each one. That is very pretty but hard for me. I crochet for charity and have not used small needles and thread for a long time. My hands actually hurt but will do more.
I hear ya , I have to take weeks long breaks after working with the steel hooks , really cramps my hands
I made one! I HATE little tiny thread and little tiny hooks and I LOVED THIS! How and where can I tag you? YAY!!! Hugs
at " Its Not Knit " on facebook ( it's a group) and on Instagram @just_vintage_crochet :)
Awsome tutorial, but you were to fast. I am going to have to purchase the pattern, love this tutorial.
It stays on better if you put only a thickness of pages in the bookmarker so that it all gets pressed between both of the front and back covers.
i have a pattern that says to starch the bookmark to make it stiff and to glue card stock to the top and bottom so that its even stiffer.
I found it hard to follow this pattern because whenever we go into a fan from a ch3, tr row, she means to fan in the ch2 area and then go into the area between, not into the next chain area. This is so beautiful. Will definitely be trying this. Question: how would you make it wider to fit a Bible?
I wouls use a bigger hook, and or a size 3 thread ( fingering weight ) :)

i gotta start over, too much tension :'(
How well would these work on soft cover books?
I'm not entirely sure , I so far only use this one on hard copy books
