    There are different connections to jigs you can use. I explain some of them in this video.
    Each connection has a different effect on the jigs and some effects might be not what you are looking for.
    Connections are very important because they help how the jig moves, depending on what connection you use, the effect on the jig and other benefits it may bring will help you catch more, or will leave your jig on the bottom of the ocean.

    Very useful information. Thank a lot for your detailed explanation. I have started to use black swivels with my slow jigs.

    I know this is older vid and curious of your use/thoughts on Quick links/paper clip? I use them 100% w SPJ ; Crane barrel swivel to leader, quick link to jig eyelet. This helps me quickly change out jigs....maybe im just lazy. It also has the benefit of creating distance from toothy kings. Just sub'd. Cheers

      Anything thats easy to put on will facilitate an easier chance of pulling off - however there are clips like the OTA quick clips from studio ocean mark that have very high stregths - quite a ways from normal for their size - been using them for both casting and jigging more and more

    Why are knots,rings and swivels have lbs specifications? Will they break at some point? And also how are they significant to the rod specs?

    • @megaz01
      @megaz01 2 года назад

      Like, if the rod specs has a required line of 20-30lbs (either braid or mono) will the knots, swivels or rings' lbs be close as to the rod's line? Or it doesn't matter at all? I am a newbie in fishing and a lot of questions in mind.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  2 года назад

      firstly, there are a few systems that exist, the western system uses lb/kg etc. it is to balance your tackle. like with a gun, you can't use a rifle bullet with a pistol. There is no clear reason exactly why the western system uses kg/lb on everything - it is a very old system that no one seems to be able to explain. But the end point of all this is BALANCE. you can not use a very heavy sinker on very light rods so for some rods, you use sinkers and lures that are fit for them. A max 20lb rod takes a max of 20lb line, the casting weight is indicated on the rod as well, for lures and sinkers. It helps guide you to what reel the rod needs, the sinkers you can use and lures etc. Split rings, solid rings, swivels etc are also part of the equation to a certain extent, but at the end of the day, you are looking at rod, reel, line balance. if you hit the numbers right, your combo will function better and wont break.

    How about using snaps like 90lb? Do you prefer swivels than snaps and why ?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  9 месяцев назад

      snaps are weak points and another thing to worry about. No matter how much it says, there is still a chance it would fail..now you have all the other stuff to worry about and adding another one to the equation doesn't make sense. The way I do things is simple - I see where the weak links are and try to make that better...or get rid of it.

    I just bought jig para slow and simi long, should I replace the hooks that came with the jig? If so, what hooks size should I replace them with? They are 20-60g!

      The hooks that came with those are ok. it's the smaller ones that you need to worry about.

    Oh this is new to me, jigging . Just received saltiga sk 20 ounce jig . It has two assist rings tied already in the back, not by the eyes / front so should I move them to front, both ? Or separate them and move only one to front? Gosh I'm confused , maybe line should be tied directly to the back of jig where already rigged ? 🤔

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Год назад +1

      20oz is quite big. You can put another set on too and leave the one on the bottom if it is allowed to use two sets of assist hooks in your waters.

      @@TheFishingKit thank you very much TheFishingKit ! for your advice! If you have time one more question: I bought daiwa certate 19 3000 xh around 8 ounces , would that be too light for a daiwa Overthere 911, 10-60 gram surf / light shore rod? Or should I pair with okuma 4000 which is 10 ounces? The Overthere is 175 grams.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Год назад +1

      @@muskyvictim would be too heavy. 10-60g is your range would be 0.35oz to 2oz. If you over this range, you stand a chance of breaking your rod.

      You would be surprised how many people fish and still go to a shop to have their knots tied. Here in the UAE, there are people calling themselves "pro" or "experts" but have other people tie their knots. RUclips has tons of video, but...well...that's just how some people are.
