    This is super helpful! thank you for the information and clearing up a lot of stuff that either had no idea about or had the wrong idea of.
    Just started jigging out on the West Coast of Canada (Halibut, lingcod, rockfish and ect) and over here we don't really carry these kinds of hooks except for the Owner Aki and other various hooks.
    I made some assist hooks with Gami 510's and those worked great for the fast jigging but now I see they aren't great for slow jigging and the Gami tarpon SC17 for slow jigging and those work really well.

      Hi Pete, welcome aboard! Glad the video cleared things up :) I think you can check out your local VMC dealer as they have started to stock specific jigging hooks in the US, so it might be that Canada would have them too.

      Thanks! depends on what trolling lure you are talking about. There are trolling plugs like Rapala, Skirts like Pakula and Black Bart etc. There's a lot out there, you need to be more specific.

    Have you tried using Owner Gorilla Light hooks as assist hooks? They work in a pinch if you don't need larger than 4/0

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  3 года назад +1

      Any thin hook will work just as long as they are thin and strong enough for slow jigging - thicker hooks (but not too thick) will work for fast jigging.

    Oh god I’m super bad for this. I had watch your video about jig para jig. I bought the jig para live bait one in 30g and 60g, looks like the hook seem weak because the fish I will be using for is in 5kg-25kg. What hook size should I buy for assist hook? I saw they have 1/0-5/0. Not sure which one is good? And if you use a bigger hooks, will it kill the action of the jig?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  2 года назад

      the shop can recommend which assist hooks to use most times. bigger hooks, bigger drag. so it will somewhat have an effect but it only takes that small amount on days when the fish are weird.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  3 года назад +1

      I've actually used them years ago. I caught fish on them too, they work, but are not as effective. they will hook the fish in the mouth, no problem, but remember for slow jigs, you want the other hook/hooks to snag the fish. I used them on fast jigs with some success as mentioned above, but just not as effective.

    Hi..
    What means PE 2 ..PE 3..PE 4
    What is the pounds of the line at PE 2 PE 3 & PE 3 line ?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Год назад +2

      It is the Japanese standard sizing of spooled lines, not just fishing line. (Guo standard) it is a measure of DIAMETER, not breaking strain. The breaking strain depends on how the line is made, for example, one manufacturer's PE 2 would break at 20lb, while another company's PE 2 would break at 40LB.
